Round 2

Last Updated April 25, 2015

  1. Tennessee Titans: P.J. Williams, CB, Florida State

Scott DelleFave had the first pick in the second round. With this pick, Scott chose P.J. Williams after Williams fell to round 2 in this mock.

P.J. Williams is the best player available. The Titans need to add as many defensive pieces as possible because the goal should be to reload on defense and then get Zach Mettenberger's replacement in 2016, if Mettenberger fails to step up in 2015.

  2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: D.J. Humphries, LT, Florida

Chris Ransom picked next in round 2. He chose to build around Jameis Winston by adding a blindside to protect him up front on the offensive line.

D.J. Humphries now weighs 6-4 307 lbs. Humphries showed the versatility to play left tackle or right tackle on the offensive line. Daniel Jeremiah and Matt Miller of Bleacher Report both believe that Humphries is the top offensive tackle in the Draft. T.J. Clemmings out of Pittsburgh and Jake Fisher out of Oregon are both options with both players falling to round 2 as well. At the end of the day, I just see the Buccaneers getting Humphries to compliment Damar Dotson if he doesn't go in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

  3. Oakland Raiders: Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Oklahoma

Oren Shiri picked here. Shiri chose Dorial Green-Beckham the former Missouri wide receiver who transferred to Oklahoma in round 2.

Oakland needs a #1 receiver. This draft is so deep at wide receiver, that Oakland can find a #1 target atop the second round assuming Leonard Williams or Danny Shelton is there at 4.

  4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Devin Smith, WR, Ohio State

Robert Cobb picked here. This time Rob went with a wide receiver once again. Devin Smith from Rob's Ohio State Buckeyes was the pick.

Cecil Shorts is gone and Justin Blackmon is a bust. Jacksonville drafts another receiver in round 2 of a heavy 2015 NFL Draft.

  5. New York Jets: Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami FL

Andrew Kermish picked with this pick. He chose Phillip Dorsett out of Miami FL.

Teams usually take offensive players to build around the quarterback. Adding a slot receiver like Phillip Dorsett to play on the inside next to Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.

  6. Washington Redskins: Eli Harold, 3-4 LOLB, Virginia

Kristopher John picked here. John had a tough time deciding what to do here. In the end, John went with Eli Harold.

Trent Murphy is not a 3 down player. Eli Harold is. Harold can play defensive end or outside linebacker on either side with his versatility. With Brian Orakpo gone, Ryan Kerrigan will be the 3-4 right outside linebacker with Eli Harold as the 3-4 left outside linebacker.

  7. Chicago Bears: Denzel Perryman, 3-4 MLB, Miami FL

Jesse Lucas picked here. Lucas went with Denzel Perryman out of Miami FL.

Chicago needs a middle linebacker for their 3-4 scheme they plan on switching to. Perryman is the top linebacker available with 110 tackles in 2014. If he can play outside linebacker in a 4-3, you'd think he's capable of playing in a 3-4 as well.

  8. New York Giants: Jake Fisher, LT, Oregon

Stephen Coganator picked here. Stephen went with Oregon left tackle Jake Fisher in round 2 after passing on a left tackle for Landon Collins in round 1.

The Giants need a left tackle. Jake Fisher was simply too good to pass up on at this point in round 2.

  9. St. Louis Rams: Byron Jones, CB, Connecticut

Joshua Johnson picked here. He chose Byron Jones out of Connecticut.

Byron Jones is the best player available. That's why I picked him at 41.

  10. Atlanta Falcons: Eric Rowe, FS, Utah

Scott Carasik picked here. Scott chose Eric Rowe out of Utah.

Atlanta desperately needs a starting free safety. Eric Rowe has the best zone coverage in the entire draft. That's why I took Rowe here.

  11. Cleveland Browns: Maxx Williams, TE, Minnesota

Joey Potter picked here. Joey chose Maxx Williams out of Minnesota.

I was torn between Auburn wide receiver Sammie Coates and Minnesota tight end Maxx Williams. In the end the Golden Gophers tight end won out because he provides better value and fills a bigger need at tight end with Dwayne Bowe and Brian Hartline joining the Browns at wide receiver.

  12. New Orleans Saints: Stephone Anthony, 3-4 MLB, Clemson

Oren Shiri picked here. Oren chose Stephone Anthony out of Clemson.

The Saints need a 3-4 middle linebacker. Stephone Anthony can play in a 4-3 or a 3-4 scheme. With 10 quarterback hurries in 2014, he's the best player to replace Curtis Lofton at inside linebacker.

  13. Minnesota Vikings: Benardrick McKinney, MLB, Mississippi State

Shane Hallam picked here. Shane chose Benardrick McKinney at middle linebacker.

The Vikings need a middle linebacker up front. With Jasper Brinkley gone, Benardrick McKinney seems like an ideal fit at middle linebacker in Minnesota's 4-3 scheme.

  14. San Francisco 49ers: Tre Jackson, RG, Florida State

Michael Harris picked here. Harris chose right guard Tre Jackson with this pick.

Tre Jackson might not be a left guard. However I don't believe any of the left guards after La'El Collins and Brandon Scherff are capable of replacing Mike Iupati.

  15. Miami Dolphins: Laken Tomlinson, LG, Duke

Joey Potter picked here. Potter chose Laken Tomlinson out of Duke.

Miami will move Mike Pouncey back to center after playing him at left guard. The Dolphins get a new starting left guard with this pick to fill the void that Richie Incognito once left by drafting Duke's guard with this pick.

  16. San Diego Chargers: Nate Orchard, 3-4 ROLB, Utah

Michael Gartman was on the clock. Gartman went with pass rusher Nate Orchard.

Nate Orchard had 18.5 sacks in 2014. He'd be the perfect candidate to replace Dwight Freeney.

  17. Kansas City Chiefs: Chris Conley, WR, Georgia

Michael Harris is on the clock. The Chiefs select Chris Conley with this pick.

Georgia wide receiver Chris Conley is my favorite receiver left. After taking Brandon Scherff in round 1, Kansas City goes out and finds somebody to compliment Jeremy Maclin.

  18. Buffalo Bills: Jordan Phillips, NT, Oklahoma

Scott DelleFave is on the clock. He went with Oklahoma nose tackle Jordan Phillips.

Buffalo has the luxury of taking the best player available. At this point in the second round, I believe that player is Jordan Phillips.

  19. Houston Texans: Nelson Agholor, WR, USC

Michael Gartman picked here. He chose USC wide receiver Nelson Agholor with this pick.

Houston may have added Cecil Shorts to compliment DeAndre Hopkins. A third wide receiver is still needed.

  20. Philadelphia Eagles: Sammie Coates, WR, Auburn

Walter Cherepinsky picked here. Walt took Sammie Coates out of Auburn with this selection.

Sammie Coates is without a doubt the best player available. I'm amazed that Coates is still available. There were a lot of picks that made me scratch my head.

  21. Cincinnati Bengals: Arik Armstead, DT, Oregon

Jason Bantle selected here. Jason took Arik Armstead as a 4-3 defensive tackle.

Arik Armstead may very well be a better fit in a 3-4 defense. Still, he's too good to pass on here and is just as capable of playing in a 4-3 defense.

  22. Detroit Lions: Steven Nelson, CB, Oregon State

Joshua Johnson picked here. Josh chose Oregon State cornerback Steven Nelson.

The Detroit Lions need a cornerback. Oregon State cornerback Steven Nelson would make an immediate upgrade over Darius Slay at boundary cornerback.

  23. Arizona Cardinals: Ronald Darby, CB, Florida State

Stephen Coganator picked here. He chose Florida State cornerback Ronald Darby.

Not only does Ronald Darby have better character than P.J. Williams he also did better in the workouts. He's not a guy I'd take in round 1 because he's a boom or bust player, but he's most definitely a guy to add in round 2. Worst case scenario you got a nickel corner in the mold of Greg Toler. Best case scenario, you got the next Antonio Cromartie.

  24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Anthony Harris, SS, Virginia

Shane Hallam picked here. Shane chose Anthony Harris out of Virginia.

Troy Polamalu is gone. They will need another strong safety to take his spot. Harris has the versatility to play both free safety and strong safety plus Pittsburgh needs upgrades at both safety positions.

  25. Carolina Panthers: Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State

Scott Carasik went with the top wide receiver left. At this point that guy was Tyler Lockett.

Tyler Lockett is the top receiver left. Carolina has to take Tyler Lockett because he provides the best value.

  26. Baltimore Ravens: Alex Carter, CB, Stanford

Jesse Lucas picked here. He chose to gave Alex Carter here.

Baltimore needs a corner. I feel like Alex Carter is a first round corner and want to see him on the Patriots. That means Baltimore has to draft him for depth if he slips this far.

  27. Denver Broncos: Quentin Rollins, CB, Miami Ohio

Kristopher John picked here. He chose Miami Ohio cornerback Quentin Rollins.

I know Denver is stacked at cornerback. Rollins is too good to pass on. Why was Kayvon Webster at the nickel last season? Having Roby move from the dime to the boundary with Rollins starting at nickel would make this secondary much tougher to throw against.

  28. Dallas Cowboys: Derron Smith, FS, Fresno State

Andrew Kermish picked here. Andrew went with Fresno State free safety Derron Smith.

After Landon Collins, my favorite safety in this draft is Derron Smith. Smith would be another good addition to the Cowboys in the late second round.

  29. Indianapolis Colts: Hroniss Grasu, C, Oregon

Scott DelleFave picked here. He went with Hroniss Grasu out of Oregon.

Andrew Luck needs a quality center behind him. Peyton Manning had Jeff Saturday. Grasu makes too much sense here.

  30. Green Bay Packers: Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, CB, Oregon

Jason Bantle picked here. Jason went with Oregon cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu.

Green Bay needs a cornerback. I took Melvin Gordon based on value in round 1. The Packers can still obtain Ifo Ekpre-Olomu in the second round.

  31. Seattle Seahawks: Xavier Cooper, DT, Washington State

Scott DelleFave picked here. Scott went with Xavier Cooper a defensive tackle/3-4 right end out of Washington State.

Xavier Cooper has immense talent. He could go anywhere from the late second round to the early fourth. I had a chance to interview Cooper, and I just get a feeling that he will be Pro Bowler because he signed with the same agency as Leonard Williams.

  32. New England Patriots: Jacoby Glenn, CB, Central Florida

Chris Ransom picked here. Chris went with Jacoby Glenn out of Central Florida.

Jacoby Glenn was the only good cornerback left with a ton of teams taking cornerbacks near the end of the second round. Jacob Glenn had 7 interceptions and 11 pass breakups in 2014. Covering Breshad Perriman in one-on-one drills during practice also helps. I just feel like Glenn is the best cornerback left, even though there is a significant drop off after Ifo Ekpre-Olomu and the other cornerbacks taken in the first two rounds of our 2015 NFL Group Mock Draft.
