2015 NFL Mock Draft: Final Mock 7 Rounds

Round 5

Houston Cougars wide receiver Deontay Greenberry led the Houston Cougars to an incredible comeback win against Pittsburgh in the Armed Forces Bowl. Find out who takes him in round 5.

Posted By Chris Ransom Last Updated: April 30, 2015. Updates Every Thursday leading up to Draft Day.

  1. Minnesota Vikings: Justin Hardy, WR, East Carolina

Minnesota needs another wide receiver. Having Mike Wallace and Cordarrelle Patterson is not enough. Luckily for Minnesota, the Vikings can take Justin Hardy atop round 5.

  2. Tennessee Titans: Leterrius Walton, NT, Central Michigan

The Titans need a defensive tackle for depth. Leterrius Walton makes too much sense here.

  3. Jacksonville Jaguars: James Sample, FS, Louisville

James Sample has the versatility to play strong safety or free safety. Jacksonville has Sample graded out as a top 50 pick so getting him in the fifth round would be huge after addressing a majority of their team needs.

Previous Pick: Houston Bates, LOLB, Louisiana Tech

  4. Oakland Raiders: Austin Shepherd, RT, Alabama

Oakland has to get an offensive tackle for depth behind Donald Penn and Menelik Watson at some point. Shepherd is the best offensive tackle left.

  5. Washington Redskins: Reese Dismukes, C, Auburn

Darrian Miller is a zone blocking left guard. Sure he is undersized at 6-5 293 lbs. The bottom line is he plays a critical position at left guard.

  6. Chicago Bears: Imoan Claiborne, CB, Northwestern State

Chicato happens to like Imoan Claiborne. The hometown cornerback would be a good small school cornerback for the Bears to develop.

  7. Denver Broncos: Jarvis Harrison, LG, Texas A&M

Jarvis Harrison weighs 6-8 350 lbs. Harrison has the versatility to play left guard, right guard, and right tackle. With three offensive linemen drafted, you can spend your remaining picks on defensive players.

  8. New York Giants: Clayton Geathers, SS, Central Florida

The New York Giants need a strong safety. Clayton Geathers makes a lot of sense here.

  9. Philadelphia Eagles: Greg Mancz, RG, Toledo

Greg Mancz from Toledo is a talented prospect. He fits what the Eagles are looking for at right guard. Philadelphia needs a starting right guard with Todd Herremans gone.

  10. Atlanta Falcons: Mario Alford, WR, West Virginia

Atlanta finally addresses wide receiver in round 5. There are a ton of good slot receivers, but Alford might be too good to pass on at this point.

  11. Cleveland Browns: Henry Anderson, 3-4 LE, Stanford

Cleveland needs a 3-4 defensive end that can play the five technique. Henry Anderson was a 3-4 left end at Stanford and makes a lot of sense here.

  12. New Orleans Saints: Zach Vigil, 3-4 MLB, Utah State

The Saints have to obtain a 3-4 middle linebacker for depth behind Dannell Ellerbe. Zach Vigil is a 4-3 outside linebacker and a 3-4 middle linebacker with his versatility. He had 105 total tackles in 2012, 125 total tackles in 2013, and 145 total tackles in 2014.

Vigil's tackles for a loss improved each season too. Vigil had 9.5 tackles for a loss in 2012, 12.5 tackles for a loss in 2013, and 19.5 tackles for a loss in 2014.

The 6-2 240 lb linebacker recorded 9 sacks this past season in 2014. The Saints need a guy like this in round 5.

  13. Miami Dolphins: Jordan Hicks, ROLB, Texas

Jordan Hicks is one of the best 4-3 right outside linebackers. Miami needs help at right outside linebacker, and adding Hicks is a good decision in round 5.

  14. Miami Dolphins: Al Bond, RG, Memphis

Miami can have Dallas Thomas and J.D. Walton compete for the left guard job. Al Bond will challenge Billy Turner for the right guard job after being a dominant run blocking right guard at Memphis.

  15. San Francisco 49ers: Robert Meyers, RG, Tennessee State

San Francisco gets a right guard and finds a second guard to take. Robert Meyers from Tennessee State is a player to keep an eye on.

  16. Houston Texans: Deontay Greenberry, WR, Houston

Houston loved what they saw from Deontay Greenberry. The Texans take Greenberry as their slot receiver.

  17. San Diego Chargers: Max Garcia, C, Florida

Max Garcia has the versatility to play anywhere on the offensive line. Adding him to the Chargers would make a lot of sense in round 5.

  18. New Orleans Saints: Grady Jarrett, 3-4 LE, Clemson

New Orleans gets a 3-4 left end to develop for the future with this pick. Grady Jarrett has the versatility to be a 4-3 defensive tackle, but he will do better as a 3-4 defensive end.

  19. Buffalo Bills: Josh Harper, WR, Fresno State

Buffalo adds Fresno State wide receiver Josh Harper here. Harper makes complete sense for a team looking to make an upgrade in the slot.

  20. Philadelphia Eagles: Dezmin Lewis, WR, Central Arkansas

The Eagles will take a receiver at some point in the later rounds of the draft. Dezmin Lewis weighs 6-3 207 lbs and is an ideal fit for the Eagles in round 5.

  21. Cincinnati Bengals: David Andrews, C, Georgia

Georgia center David Andrews is talented enough to get drafted. I moved him out of my top 10 center rankings because other SEC centers like Reese Dismukes and Max Garcia got Senior Bowl invites over him. Andrews would be an upgrade over Russell Bodine at center with those two SEC centers gone in round 5.

  22. Baltimore Ravens: George Farmar, WR, USC

Baltimore lost Torrey Smith and Steve Smith is on the brink of retirement. George Farmar would be a good slot receiver. I feel like Baltimore takes multiple receivers in the 2015 NFL Draft.

  23. Arizona Cardinals: Tyler Varga, FB, Yale

Arizona needs a fullback. Another running back that would provide depth behind Andre Ellington and Stepfan Taylor would also help.

  24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Mark Glowinski, RG, West Virginia

Pittsburgh has no backup behind David DeCastro as a right guard on the depth chart. Mark Glowinski played right guard at West Virginia.

Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley and offensive line coach Mike Munchak both interviewed the former Mountaineer. Glowinski would be an effective backup right guard behind DeCastro in Pittsburgh.

  25. Carolina Panthers: Houston Bates, LOLB, Louisiana Tech

Houston Bates had 10 sacks at left outside linebacker in 2014. Carolina might need a new starter at 4-3 left outside linebacker in 2015.

Previous Pick: Kyle Emmanuel, LOLB, North Dakota State

  26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Ty Montgomery, WR, Stanford

Tampa Bay finally gets a slot receiver that will play next to Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans. Winston will want a slot receiver to work with in addition to these big guys at some point in the draft, and that's where Montgomery comes into play.

  27. Dallas Cowboys: DeShazor Everett, CB, Texas A&M

Dallas finally drafts a cornerback in round 5. DeShazor Everett is a steal at this point in the third round.

  28. Denver Broncos: Hayes Pullard, 3-4 MLB, USC

Denver needs a 3-4 middle linebacker. Hayes Pullard is a talented ball player with a lot of skill and potential.

  29. Indianapolis Colts: Javorious Allen, RB, USC

The Indianapolis Colts will need a developmental running back with Frank Gore, and Daniel Herron on the roster. Javorious Allen has potential, but he is a project.

When Gore leaves it will be the "Boom" and "Buck" backfield in Indianapolis. Herron's nickname is "Boom" and Allen's nickname is "Buck".

  30. Green Bay Packers: James Vaughters, 3-4 MLB, Stanford

The Green Bay Packers will need a second 3-4 middle linebacker in case Clay Matthews wants to move back to the outside. James Vaughters has the versatility to play 3-4 right outside linebacker, 3-4 middle linebacker, or 3-4 left outside linebacker making him a good late round linebacker to take in round 5.

  31. Seattle Seahawks: Darrian Miller, LG, Kentucky

Seattle needs a left guard now that James Carpenter is gone. Darrian Miller almost makes too much sense.

  32. Detroit Lions: Kevin White, CB, TCU

Kevin White would be a good addition at this point. Detroit does need another cornerback.

  33. Carolina Panthers: David Cobb, RB, Minnesota

Carolina lost DeAngelo Williams to Pittsburgh. They use this pick to get a solid #2 back behind Jonathan Stewart.

  34. Seattle Seahawks: LaDarius Gunter, CB, Miami FL

Time for Miami to add someone to the Legion Of Boom. LaDarius Gunter is the top cornerback left.

  35. Baltimore Ravens: Nick Marshall, CB, Auburn

Auburn's former quarterback goes to a team where he can be either a third string quarterback or a dime cornerback. In this case, Marshall converts to dime cornerback to ensure he gets drafted.

  36. Kansas City Chiefs: Junior Salt, LG, Utah

Kansas City needs insurance in case Ben Grubbs doesn't work out. Junior Salt is 6-4 320 lbs and has the versatility to play left guard or right guard. Salt is better at right guard though.

  37. Kansas City Chiefs: Quayshawn Nealy, 3-4 MLB, Georgia Tech

Kansas City gets a second 3-4 middle linebacker. That player is Quayshawn Nealy out of Georgia Tech, who might be a diamond in the rough at this point in the fifth round.

  38. Houston Texans: Kyle Christy, P, Florida

Carolina drafts a kicker or punter with this compensation pick here. Kyle Christy is the top punter available in the 2015 NFL Draft at this point in round 5.

  39. Houston Texans: Chaz Green, RT, Florida

Houston needs to bring in a developmental right tackle. I know you re-signed Derek Newton, but he's not the long term answer.

  40. Baltimore Ravens: Austin Gund, C, Richmond

Baltimore adds another center for depth. Austin Gund is a good prospect to add at this point with the final pick in the fifth round.
