Defensive Backs Combine Recap: The first group featured the cornerbacks with the second group featuring the safeties.

A lot of the cornerbacks did well in the man coverage and zone coverage drills at the 2020 NFL Combine. That's why the 40-times were paramount this year.

Jeffrey Okudah solidified why he was the third overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Okudah showed the speed, man coverage, zone coverage, press coverage, and run stuffing of a blue chip cornerback.

Kristian Fulton, Trevon Diggs, and C.J. Henderson stood out at the 2020 NFL Combine. Those three SEC cornerbacks should be the next three cornerbacks drafted after Okudah. All of these cornerbacks showed the skill set of a first round cornerback at the 2020 NFL Combine.

Jeff Gladney out of TCU is the other guy who could sneak into the first round. Gladney not only ran a good 40-time, but also showed why he is so good in coverage. Gladney also dominated in the Gauntlet Drill.

Virginia cornerback Bryce Hall did not run the 40-yard dash. Hall has fantastic man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage on tape. He should still be a day 2 pick despite not running his 40-time in Indianapolis.

Wake Forest cornerback Essang Bassey dominated the gaunlet drill for the cornerbacks. Bassey looks like a day 3 pick.

Darnay Holmes has been my dark horse cornerback. After impressing me at the 2020 Senior Bowl, he had another strong day at the 2020 NFL Combine. He's one of my favorite nickel cornerbacks in this draft.

Pittsburgh cornerback Dane Jackson and Utah cornerback Jaylon Johnson ran bad 40-times and dropped passes in the Gauntlett Drill. These cornerback still dominated in man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage drills at the 2020 NFL Combine.

Overall the cornerbacks did well. I wanted to see how the safeties did today.

Grant Delpit is still my top ranked safety not named Isaiah Simmons who worked out with the linebackers yesterday. Delpit may have had better tape in 2018, but his only bad game in 2019 was against Alabama when he played injured. Delpit dominated the rest of the regular season on tape.

Xavier McKinney and Kyle Dugger both look like second round talents. McKinney could have been a late first round pick with a strong NFL Combine.

The remaining safeties did well in coverage drills. Every safety in this combine has good zone coverage and the versatility to play safety on either side.

The safeties with speed that can play man and press coverage along with zone will be the safeties that separate themselves from the other players in this draft class.

Overall its a good safety group. I like the versatility these players provide for NFL teams.
