Baltimore was my preseason pick to win Super Bowl 59 over Detroit. If this Lamar Jackson shows up in January against Buffalo and Kansas City that can happen. Otherwise we'll either see 15 or 17 face Detroit if 8 fails to get Baltimore to New Orleans, Louisiana this February. If you've been watching Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen you know who those quarterbacks are kids.

This was also Carolina's first game as a favorite in 34 games.

I'll get to the Dallas Cowboys player of the game in a second. I want to discuss how momentum affected Bryce Young briefly. Bryce Young began the game 6/6 on completions and 3/3 on his first three third down conversions. He went 0/8 on his final 8 third down attempts after throwing his first incompletion on third and ten thanks to a Cade Mays false start penalty on third and five. Bryce Young's momentum may have easily continued if that penalty never happens. To be fair to Bryce Young, the Dallas Cowboys secondary is at full health which allows the Dallas Cowboys to use rookie cornerback Caelen Carson as a dime cornerback in four cornerback sets while Malik Hooker and Donovan Wilson both play prevent 2 defense by taking Bryce Young's deep passing lanes away with zone coverage. The Dallas Cowboys cornerback quadro of Trevon Diggs, Da'Ron Bland, Jourdan Lewis, and Caelen Carson all match up well against Xavier Legette, Adam Thielen, David Moore, and Jalen Coker in man coverage depsite Bryce Young's rapport with this solid, but not spectacular group of wide receivers. You also have a former head coach in Mike Zimmer calling plays at defensive coordinator against a first year head coach in Dave Canales whose a former offensive coordinator making this a mismatch in the Dallas Cowboys favor in more ways than you'd like to imagine if you happen to be a Carolina Panthers fan. The two fumbles Bryce Young had which Carolina lost on their first drive in each half were also killers for Carolina.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was my player of the game. CeeDee Lamb had 9 receptions on 13 targets, 116 receiving yards, and 1 receiving touchdown. Lamb stepped up and balled out to keep Dallas in the playoff hunt for another week. The Dallas Cowboys only have one path to this years NFL Playoffs and it is very unlikely this scenario happens. Dallas wins out, Philadelphia beats Washington, and Tampa Bay loses one of their final two home games to Carolina or New Orleans. I highly doubt this happens, but it would be pretty freaking wild if New Orleans Saints rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler screwed Mayfield out of the playoffs in week 18 while Dallas won out. It would be like the time Arizona defeated Minnesota with Josh McCown and Anquan Boldin during Josh McCown and Anquan Boldin's rookie season.

Game Recap: CLEVELAND-Kansas City started Joe Thuney who usually plays left guard at left tackle taking a page from what the Cleveland Browns did with Joel Bitonio when it came to injuries. Kansas City also tried moving Joshua Williams from nickel cornerback to boundary cornerback against number two wide receivers with Jaylen Watson out of the lineup which I don't blame the Chiefs for since I think Williams has a higher ceiling than Conner. Cleveland does not have David Njoku at tight end or Cedric Tillman at wide receiver. Kansas City is the healthier of the two teams.

Usually I will go into lengthy detail on scoring drives. There were so many injuries in this game that it broke my spirit. Chamarri Conner and Patrick Mahomes got injured by Kansas City. Marin Emerson Jr., Myles Garrett, and Nick Chubb were the latest victims of the Cleveland Browns Tic Tac Toe Tripple Whammy Of Doom where three different Cleveland Browns get injured each week. Chubb and Garrett are the faces of this franchise on offense and defense. You cannot replicate what those two do. For Clevleand Browns fans this probably feels more repetitive than a Simpsons episode at this point.

Do you really want to know the most infuriating thing about this game? There wasn't a player on the winning team with 300 total yards at quarterback, 100 total yards at running back, 100 receiving yards or total yards by a wide receiver or a tight end, there wasn't a defender with 10 plays, and Harrison Butker spent so much time in the kitchen where he believes he wife belongs that he missed a freaking chip shot field goal right before halftime. The weather did play a role in Butker's missed kick, but if you enjoy the Chiefs as much as my brother or my mom, there's this expectation that you expect Butker to make that damn kick in Cleveland regardless of the conditions.

The brutal honest truth is nobody on either team deserved player of the game. We should just give the player of the game award to long-time Browns commentator Jim Donovan and let him laugh at how bad these two teams played up in Heaven. At the same token, I can see how this comment comes across as disrespectful even if my intentions appear harmless and honorable towards the greatest Browns announcer of All Time. We're giving Patrick Mahomes player of the game again. He's now tied with Lamar Jackson for player of the game with five player of the game awards on this site for the winning quarterback this season even though Lamar had 300 total yards in all five of his player of the game recaps while Mahomes only got 300 total yards three times against Tampa Bay in week 9, against Carolina in week 12, and Las Vegas in week 13. Mahomes ended up with player of the game in weeks 14 and 15 despite having under 300 yards and managing the game well because everyone else on the Chiefs played like crap even though you can argue former kicker Matthew Wright was more deserving than Mahomes last week. Whether Mahomes continues this heater as the Player Of The Game on Draft Utopia continues comes down to the status of Patrick Mahomes high ankle sprain for this Saturday's game against Houston before Kansas City heads to Pittsburgh on Chirstmas. Game Recap: HOUSTON-Miami headed to Houston. The good news is Patrick Paul was back at left tackle for Miami after a strong first game. The bad news is Jackson Carman is now the blindside for Tua since Austin "Waldo" Jackson is on injured reserve. Where is Waldo? Miami needs Jackson back so Tua can have a clean pocket. When the Dolphins miss Waldo I mean Austin Jackson, you kow shit may hit the fan in Miami.

Houston opted to move Tytus Howard to left guard and play rookie 2024 second round pick Blake Fisher at right tackle with Juice Scruggs out at left guard after having more success on the interior offensive line by moving Scruggs from center to left guard. That's how little confidence Houston has in their former 2022 first round pick Kenyon Green. Houston has so little faith in Green they would rather start a rookie second round pick at right tackle even if it means moving Howard to left guard while relying in Fisher if it means keeping Green on the damn sideline.

The good news for Houston is that Christian Harris was finally cleared to play for the first time this season after having to deal with Aziz Al-Shaiir and his Limp Bizkit Roller Ball bullshit hit on Trevor Lawrence after stepping in relief of Christian Harris all season. Harris played 4-3 right outside linebacker last year, but he would play middle linebacker for this game while Henry To'oTo'o would play right outside linebacker. This is the opposite of what those two did under Nick Saban at Alabama, so the choice by head coach DeMeco Ryans to put those two in roles their not used to playing was certainly an interesting one. Foley Fatukasi and Tim Settle were both back at 4-3 defensive tackle too. This would be the first game where Houston had their front 7 at full health. Houston's run defense hasn't been a top 5 unit, but maybe with everyone healthy, they would finally play like one.
