Jake Guentzel who had 2 goals in game 2 of the 2017 Stanley Cup Finals scored the opening goal for Pittsburgh thanks to an assist by Sidney Crosby. Pittsburgh led 1-0 after one period, but Nashville outshot Pittsburgh 12-6 in the first period.
Roman Josi's power play goal tied the game at 1. Josi dished two more assists in the second period. Frederick Gaudrier got one assist from Josi to make it 2-1. Then former Penguin James Neal who Nashville got in the Patrik Hornqvist trade got another assist from Josi to make it 3-1. Nashville led 3-1 after two periods.
