Chicago Cubs Win Historic 2016 World Series

Game 7 of the 2016 World Series took place. Kyle Hendricks faced Corey Kluber with the series tied 3-3 at Progressive Field.


Kluber pitched a strike to Dexter Fowler. Kluber evened the count by pitching a ball. Dexter Fowler hit a home run even though I saw the ball land in Cleveland’s center fielders glove.


Kyle Schwarber got on base in the top of the first inning. Kris Bryant hit a line drive that resulted in an out. Anthony Rizzo stepped up to bat. Rajai Davis caught an out from Rizzo.


Schwarber stole second base with two outs. Lonnie Chisenhall caught the final out Ben Zobrist hit his way. Kluber had a rough first inning with 19 pitches. Cleveland can still win if Kluber limits things to just that 1 run in 4-6 innings, but this was a great start for the Chicago Cubs in a critical game 7 that was a must win for both teams.


Carlos Santana stepped up to bat. Kyle Hendricks finally took the mound hoping to make up the game 3 loss at Wrigley Field to Josh Tomlin. Kyle Hendricks threw a pitch to Carlos Santana that resulted in a line drive caught for an out by right fielder Jason Heyward.


Jason Kipnis stepped up to bat. Hendricks threw two strikes to KIpnis. Hendricks got a strikeout on Kipnis.


Francisco Lindor stepped up to bat. Hendricks threw an 89-mile per hour cutter in the world series. The Cubs made a bad throw when Javier Baez threw an error to Anthony Rizzo that was impossible to catch. Lindor got on base.


Mike Napoli stepped up to bat. Hendricks threw an 88-mile per hour sinker for strike one. Kyle Hendricks only threw 9 pitches in the top of the first inning. Hendricks may be able to pitch 7 innings if he can remain that dominant getting batters out and retiring the side in less than 10 pitches. Kluber was already at 19 pitches through 1 inning.


Addison Russell stepped up to bat. Russell hit a pop up to Lindor for the first out in the top of the second inning.


Wilson Contreras stepped up to bat. Kluber got Contreras out pretty quickly. Kluber did an awesome job using his curveball to get Contreras out.


Jason Heyward broke hit bat. Lindor caught that pop up to end the inning. Kluber only threw 7 pitches that inning. Kluber had 26 pitches through two innings.


Kyle Hendricks threw to Jose Ramirez in the bottom of the second inning. Ramirez got ahead in the count at 3-1. What would Hendricks do under pressure. He pitched an 88-mile per hour cutter fastball to make it a full count at 3-2. Addison Russell had an error after moving to shortstop. That allowed Ramirez to get on base. Raimirez did a great job making the ball spin.


Lonnie Chisenhall stepped up to bat. Hendricks threw ball one to Chisenhall on a 73-mile per hour curveball. Then his 87-mile per hour cutter fastball set up a foul ball to make it 1-1. Hendricks caught Ramirez for a first out. Lonnie Chisenhall got a base hit.


Rajai Davis stepped up to bat. Davis hit an 87-miler per hour cutter fastball. That set up a double play for the Cubs. Ramirez really cost Cleveland a critical chance to score that inning. Hendricks threw 19 pitches through 2 innings.


Javier Baez stepped up to bat. Kluber threw an 84-mile per hour curveball to make it strike one before throwing a 92-mile per hour sinker. Kluber threw an 83-mile per hour curveball that Baez hit for an out to left fielder Coco Crisp.


Dexter Fowler stepped up to bat. Fowler got out on the line drive that Chisenhall caught after Fowler became the first player to hit a lead off home run in game 7 of a World Series.


Kluber pitched a 90-mile per hour slider to Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber went for a double, but got tagged out to end the inning. Corey Kluber threw 32 pitches through 3 innings.


Coco Crisp stepped up to bat. Hendricks threw an 88-mile per hour cutter fastball for strike one. Crisp hit a double to lead off the bottom of the third inning.


Roberto Perez stepped up to bat. Many Cubs were expecting Perez to bunt as Perez kept getting advice from Cleveland’s third base coach. Perez had a sacrifice bunt that put Crisp at third base.


Carlos Santana stepped up to bat. Hendricks threw an 88-mile per hour cutter fastball for ball one. Santana tied the game by getting Crisp home. That tied the game at 1 in the bottom of the third inning.


Jason Kipnis stepped up to bat with Santana on first base and one out in the bottom of the third inning. Kipnis got ahead in the count at 2-1. Hendricks threw a foul ball to Kipnis on an 87-mile per hour sinker which made it 2-2. It looked like the Cubs were gonna get a double play, but both runners were on base with Francisco Lindor about to step up to bat.


Hendricks through ball one to Lindor. Hendricks threw another ball to Lindor to make it 2-0. Hendricks made it 3-0. Lindor hit a foul ball. Hendricks picked up a huge out on Francisco Lindor when Zobrist caught a pop up on a line drive.


Mike Napoli stepped up to bat. The count was 0-2 with Hendricks getting ahead. Hendricks threw a ball to make it 1-2 after throwing the 87-mile per hour sinker for strike two. Kris Bryant caught a huge third out to end the bottom of the third inning. Hendricks threw 21 pitches in the bottom of the third inning with Kluber at 32 pitches and Hendricks now at 40 pitches through 3 innings.


Kris Bryant stepped up to bat. Kluber pitched a 92-mile per hour sinker for ball one. Kluber pitched an 84-mile per hour curveball to make it 1-1 in the count. Kluber pitched a 93-mile per hour sinker to make it 2-1. Then he pitched a 91-mile per hour slider to make it 2-2. Bryant hit another foul ball after Kluber pitched a 94-mile per hour sinker. Kluber threw a 94-mile per hour 4-seam fastball to make it a full count at 3-2. Kris Bryant hit a foul ball on a 95-mile per hour sinker. Bryant got a base hit on a 93-mile per hour 4-seam fastball.


Anthony Rizzo stepped up to bat with Kris Bryant on first base in the top of the fourth inning. Anthony Rizzo hit an 89-mile per hour slider for a foul ball. Rizzo hit another foul ball on an 88-mile per hour slider. That made it 0-2 in the top of the fourth inning. Corey Kluber accidentally hit Anthony Rizzo on a 93-mile per hour sinker. That put Bryant and Rizzo on base with no outs.


Ben Zobrist stepped up to bat. Napoli threw an out to Lindor. The Cubs had runners on first and third with one out.


Addison Russell stepped up to bat. Bryant tagged home to score even though it looked like an out. For most of the series the umps have been helping the Cubs.


Wilson Contreras stepped up to bat. Kluber threw an 84-mile per hour curveball for ball one. Then Contreras hit a foul ball on an 89-mile per hour slider. Kluber threw an 83-mile per hour curveball for ball two. Kluber threw an 84-mile per hour curveball for strike two. Zobrist scored to make it 3-1.


Jason Heyward got ahead in the count to make it 3-1. Lindor caught the out to end the inning. Kluber threw 56 pitches through 4 innings. Kluber threw 26 pitches in the top of the fourth inning. It seems ironic that Kluber has two shitty innings in the first and the fourth just to give Hendricks any wiggle room if Hendricks gets ahead in the pitch count.


Kyle Hendricks returned to the mound even with Jon Lester warming up in the bullpen. Hendricks threw an 87-mile per hour sinker to Jose Ramirez for ball one. Then Hendrickds threw two strikes to Ramirez to make it 1-2. Hendricks tagged first base for out one.


Lonnie Chisenhall stepped up to bat. Kyle Hendricks threw a 72-mile per hour curveball and an 87-mile per hour cutter to get ahead 0-2 in the count. Hendricks watched Zobrist catch the second out in the bottom of the fourth inning.


Rajai Davis stepped up to bat. Hendricks pitched two strikes to Rajai Davis one was an 87-mile per hour sinker. After getting ahead in the count at 0-2, Davis hit a pop up out to Jason Heyward. Hendricks threw 50 pitches through 4 innings while Kluber was at 56 pitches.


Javier Baez hit a solo home run. That made it a 4-1 game in the top of the fifth inning.


Andrew Miller came in. Cleveland got a critical double play in the top of the fifth inning. Chicago led 5-1 after five innings.


Hendricks remained in the game. Hendricks threw two outs and kept runners on base. Hendricks had 1 strikeout to set up the second out in the bottom of the fifth inning. Hendricks walked Carlos Santana.


Jon Lester came into the game. Cleveland had runners on second and third with two outs. Cleveland got two runs on a wild pitch. Lester came into the game out of the bullpen. Lester got a strikeout to end the inning.


Andrew Miller threw to Addison Russell in the top fo the sixth inning with Miller setting up a full count. Russell popped up to Napoli in the top of the sixth innng.


David Ross stepped up to bat. Miller got ahead iin the count at 0-2. Then Miller threw a 94-mile per hour 4-seam fastball.


Cleveland scored in the bottom of the eighth inning. Rajai Davis hit a two run home run to tie the game at 6 in the bottom of the eighth inning.


Cody Allen came in to pitch during the top of the seventh with two outs. He walked David Ross in the top of the ninth and the Cubs put a pinch runner on first base.


Jason Heyward stepped up to bat. Allen pitched two balls and a strike to Heyward. The count was at 2-2 after Allen pitched a 93-mile per hour 4-seam fastball. Heyward hit four consecutive foul balls.


Lindor had a chance to make a double play, but did not react. Bryan Shaw came in.


Bryan Shaw came in to pitch. Shaw threw a 94-mile per hour cutter to Javier Baez. Then he threw 3 balls. Jason Heyward stole second and third base on an error. The play was at full count. Baez bunted with two strikes and hit a foul ball making him out. Shaw recorded his first strikeout of the night.


Bryan Shaw threw a 95-mile per hour cutter fastball to Dexter Fowler. That made it 1-0 with two outs and a runner on third in th etop of the ninth inning. Shaw went back to his 95-miler per hour cutter fastball. Lindor made an awesome stop to get Shaw out of a jam. The game remained tied at 6 in the bottom of the ninth inning.


Aroldis Chapman returned to the game even after his pitching in the bottom of the eighth inning. Carlos Santana stepped up to bat in the bottom of the ninth inning. Chapman threw another ball. Chapman made it a full count with Santana up at the plate. Ben Zobrist caught it for the first out in the bottom of the ninth inning.


Chapman threw a strike to Chapman on an 84-mile per hour slider. Chapman threw a ball on an 85-mile per hour slider to make it 1-1. Chapman threw an 84-mile per hour slider that Kipnis hit into foul territory. It looked like a possible game-winning home run, but it was foul. Chapman threw a ball on an 87-mile per hour slider to make it 2-2. Then Chapman threw an 84-mile per hour slider to make it a full count at 3-2. Kipnis hit another foul ball on another 84-mile per hour slider. Chapman struck out Kipnis.


Francisco Lindor stepped up to bat. Lindor was 0-4 n game 7. Now he was 0-5 after Jason Heyward caught a pop up from him. The game remained tied at 6 after 9 innings. This game was heading to the top of the tenth inning.


A rain delay prevented the start of the extra innings. Bryan Shaw began the top of the tenth by pitching a ball to Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber got on base. The Cubs took Schwarber out to put a pinch runner in.


Kris Bryant stepped up to bat. Shaw fired back-to-back 94-mile per hour cutter fastballs. Shaw threw another cutter to make it 1-2. Then Shaw threw a fourth consecutive cutter which was a 95-mile per hour cutter fastball to make it 2-2. THe pinch runner got on second even though Bryant was out.


Albert Almora Jr. was on second base with one out as Anthony Rizzo stepped up to bat. Bryan Shaw had 1 out so far in the top of the tenth inning.


Shaw intentionally walked Anthony Rizzo. That put Albert Almora Jr. on second base and Anthony Rizzo on first base with one out.


Ben Zobrist stepped up to bat. Bryan Shaw threw a 93-mile per hour cutter fastball which made it 1-0. Shaw threw a 92-mile per hour cutter fastball to make it 1-1. Shaw threw a 94-mile per hour cutter fastball to make it 1-2. Shaw threw another 94-mile per hour cutter fastball that was a foul ball. Ben Zobrist hit a double to bring a runner home. The Cubs took a 7-6 lead in the top of the tenth inning. Shaw walked the batter to load the bases with one out in the top of the tenth inning.


Cleveland walked a batter in the top of the tenth to load the bases. Cleveland brought Trevor Bauer out of the bullpen. Chicago led 8-6 after the top of the tenth inning.


Carl Edwards Jr. came into the game. Mike Napoli was 0-4 and up at the plate. Carl Edwrds Jr. Cubs walked a batter with two outs. Rajai Davis hit an RBI to make it 8-7 with two outs.


Michael Martinez stepped up to bat with Michael Montgomery up to bat. The Chicago Cubs won 8-7 in extra innings.
