2019 NFL Week 3 Game Recaps

Lamar Jackson faces Patrick Mahomes. Find out who we like in week 3.

Chris Ransom Last Updated: September 24, 2019.

Tennessee Titans 1-2-0
Jacksonville Jaguars 1-2-0

Game Recap: JACKSONVILLE-Gardner Minshew II dominated in the first half going 13/18 with 125 passing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. Both of Minshew's touchdowns came in the first quarter.

Cam Robinson returned at left tackle. Jacksonville had a team high 9 sacks. This was just a fantastic team win by Jacksonville controlling this game from start to finish. Jalen Ramsey wanted his final game with Jacksonville to be an audition that would allow him to sell himself. Ramsey credited the defense instead of taking all of the credit.

Minshew carved those Titans corners. Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan both looked lost as Minshew made really accurate throws with really tight windows to work with.

Marcus Mariota dominated in Cleveland at FirstEnergy Stadium. He's struggled in his last two games against AFC South opponents.

Cincinnati Bengals 0-3-0
Buffalo Bills 3-0-0

Game Recap: BUFFALO-John Ross led the NFL in receiving yards even with A.J. Green's injury. Buffalo traded the pick that would have landed them Patrick Mahomes for LSU cornerback Tre'Davious White.

Tre'Davious White did his job against John Ross. John Ross was blanketed all day by Ross. White had 2 interceptions in this game and limited Ross to 2 receptions for 22 receiving yards.

Neither quarterback looked spectacular and neither running back was 100 percent. Buffalo is now 3-0 and hosts the deending Super Bowl Champions next week.

Detroit Lions 2-0-1
Philadelphia Eagles 1-2-0

Game Recap: PHILADELPHIA-Detroit is hoping to extend their streak for the cash in Philadelphia. Sorry ESPN, not sorry we're the Utopia Of Sports.

Philadelphia got the ball first to start the game. A nine play drive resulted in a field goal. Detroit returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Jordan Howard ran it in. Philadelphia led 10-7.

Detroit scored on a 13-play 75-yard drive where Kerryon Johnson put Detroit ahead 14-10.

Detroit went on a 13-0 run in the second quarter. The Lions led 20-10 at halftime after getting two field goals in the second quarter.

Carson Wentz threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Nelson Agholor. Detroit led 20-17 after three quarters of play.

Marvin Jones was the player of the game. He caught the game-winning touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

New York Jets 0-3-0
New England Patriots 3-0-0

Game Recap: NEW ENGLAND-What do Luke Falk and Tom Brady have in common? Both were the 199th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

New England won this game in huge fashion. This defense has yet to allow a touchdown as Tom Brady and company took care of business once again.

Oakland Raiders 1-2-0
Minnesota Vikings 2-1-0

Game Recap: MINNESOTA-Dalvin Cook led the NFL in rushing yards heading into this game. Cook has been a machine for Fantasy owners in 2019.

Kirk Cousins threw a touchdown to Adam Thielien. Minnesota took a 7-0 lead.

Dalvin Cook ran it in for a rushing touchdown. Minnesota let 14-0.

Minnesota took a 21-0 lead before Oakland scored. Minnesota won 34-21 with running back Dalvin Cook and Adam Thielien leadin the way for Minnesota.

Baltimore Ravens 2-1-0
Kansas City Chiefs 3-0-0

Game Recap: KANSAS CITY-Lamar Jackson VS Patrick Mahomes is being hyped up to be the new Manning VS Brady rivalry. The hype is certainly worth it.

Patrick Mahomes is continuing to make things happen even without Eric Fisher and Tyreek Hill with his number one left tackle and wide receiver injured. Mahomes is showing why he deserves the big bucks.

Patrick Mahomes went 27/37 with 374 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. I think Mahomes just may be able to get Kansas City to Super Bowl 54 since he's showing he's just as hungry as Brady.

Atlanta Falcons 1-2-0
Indianapolis Colts 2-1-0

Game Recap: INDIANAPOLIS-Atlanta's offensive line is vulnerable. Jabaal Sheard is back.

Jacoby Brissett dominated in this game. This was Brissett's first signature game. Even when Hilton got injured, Brissett thrived against an Atlanta secondary that was fully healthy with quality talent.

This game showed me that Brissett may have the leadership to get the Indianapolis Colts to the playoffs.

Denver Broncos 0-3-0
Green Bay Packers 3-0-0

Game Recap: GREEN BAY-Green Bay did not do well offensively. This team has some holes offensively and while that is evident, I wish Good Morning Football would credit Denver's defense to a degree without using emotional intelligence to convey how Aaron Rodgers needs to pick up the pace.

Z'Darius Smith, Rashan Gary, Darnell Savage, and Blake Martinez all clicked as a unit. Even Jaire Alexander did well. This 27-16 win shows that Green Bay's defense is stronger than I realized.

If Green Bay's offense can step up in December and this defense continues to play well, then watch out. Otherwise, Green Bay may let their guard up eventually.

Miami Dolphins 0-3-0
Dallas Cowboys 3-0-0

Game Recap: DALLAS-Josh Rosen made his debut. Robert Quinn also returned.

Rosen looked awful. This was due to the effectiveness of Quinn and Lawrence of the edge. Rosen played solid early, but Quinn wanted to stick it to Miami for letting him go and boy did he. Dallas looks like a team that could make a strong push in the NFC.

New York Giants 1-2-0
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1-2-0

Game Recap: TAMPA BAY-Daniel Jones filled in for Eli Manning. Jameis Winston was hoping to build confidence from his debut.

Saquon Barkley got injured in the second quarter. Daniel Jones led the New York Giants to a fourth quarter comeback in his debut going 23/36 wiht 336 passing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Carolina Panthers 1-2-0
Arizona Cardinals 0-2-1

Game Recap: ARIZONA-Kyle Allen made his debut. Kyle Allen looked strong in relief of Cam Newton. Allen will be starting again next week.

Pittsburgh Steelers 0-3-0
San Francisco 49ers 3-0-0

Game Recap: SAN FRANCISCO-Mason Rudolph made his first career start. Jimmy Garoppolo got injured in week 3 last year. Would he survive this time around?

Jimmy Garoppolo got picked off on his first drive by T.J. Watt. Mason Rudolph could only lead Pittsburgh downfield for a field goal. Minkah Fitzpatrick made a strong first impression for Pittsburgh. Mason Rudolph could only get a field goal on his first drive.

Pro Bowl quarterbacks and Hall Of Fame quarterbacks turn interceptions into touchdowns. That's what Big Ben does. While I believe Mason could still be a solid starter when Ben retires, he will not have the same impact Roethlisberger.

Pittsburgh led 6-0 after one quarter of play and San Francisco made it a 6-3 game at halftime. The first half was tale of field goals.

Both teams adjusted offensively in the second half. Even though Mason Rudolph won the turnover battle, Jimmy Garoppolo made more deep throws and San Francisco dominated in third down conversion percentage 54% to 26% which explains why San Francisco edged out Pittsburgh in Mason Rudolph's debut even with Mason Rudolph injured.

New Orleans Saints 2-1-0
Seattle Seahawks 2-1-0

Game Recap: SEATTLE-Teddy Bridgewater headed into Seattle. This was the team that traded his draft rights away in the 2014 NFL Draft if anyone recalls.

Bridgewater didn't wow you. Yet, at the same time, he played turnover free football and invaded Seattle and got a W in Seattle for New Orleans for the first time since 2005. Back then New Orleans did not have Sean Payton, Drew Brees, Hurricane Katrina, and Ricky Williams was on the brink of getting busted for getting high.

Houston Texans 2-1-0
Los Angeles Chargers 1-2-0

Game Recap: LOS ANGELES-Los Angeles led in the first half. Houston rallied back with a 20-3 run in the second half.

Deshaun Watson went 25/34 with 351 passing yards, 3 passing yards, and 0 interceptions. Watson did well enough to improve Houston to 2-1 after the week 1 fiasco against New Orleans.

Los Angeles Rams 3-0-0
Cleveland Browns 1-2-0

Game Recap: CLEVELAND-Los Angeles looks like their back to what they did last season. They dominated in Cleveland thanks to Goff's weapons getting by Cleveland's defense. It's not that Cleveland's defense is that bad like my Browns buddy Joseph Potter believes.

Personally, I think the Rams defeated Cleveland due to having more depth offensively with Cleveland being top heavy defensively, but also being very thin outside of their starting edges and corners. Los Angeles on the other hand is deep at running back, wide receiver, tight end, and offensive tackle. That depth was able to overpower Cleveland's top heavy defense. While I expected this game to be closer, the Rams won as expected. What surprised me the most was how effortless Los Angeles made it look.

Chicago Bears 1-2-0
Washington Redskins 0-3-0

Game Recap: WASHINGTON-Chicago took care of business early. The Bears led 28-3 at on point, but unlike the Super Bowl 51 Falcons they did not blow their lead.
