2019 NBA Draft Results

Round 1 Picks 16-30

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: June 20, 2019.

  1. Orlando Magic: Chuma Okeke, SF, Auburn A Grade

The 20-year-old Chuma Okeke averaged 12 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game, 1.9 assists per game, a 49.6% field goal percentage, a 72.2% free throw percentage, and a 38.7% three point percentage. Okeke embrassed Nassir Little on tape during the Sweet 16. Orlando gets him for depth at 16.

  2. New Orleans Pelicans: Nickeil-Alexander Walker, SG, Virginia Tech A+ Grade

The New Orleans Pelicans get a shooting guard for depth. The 6-5 205 lb Nickeil-Alexander Walker has the versatility to play shooting guard or point guard with his versatility.

Nickeil-Alexander Walker averaged 16.2 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game, 4.1 assists per game, a 47.4% field goal percentage, a 77.8% free throw percentage, and a 37.4% three point percentage. New Orleans gets a true shooting guard to be groomed behind Jrue Holliday.

  3. Indiana Pacers: Goga Bitadze, C, Georgia F Grade

The Pacers reached here. Indiana gets to celebrate getting the first F grade in this draft.

  4. San Antonio Spurs: Luka Samanic, PF, Croatia F Grade

The Spurs reached just like the Pacers. This is my second F grade.

  5. Philadelphia 76ers: Mattise Thybulle, SG, Washington

The 6-5 195 lb Mattise Thybulle has lined up at point guard, shooting guard, and small forward. Like Nassir Little, he thrives defensively, but struggles offensively. Philadelphia traded 24 and 33 for someone who led the NCAA in steals.

  6. Memphis Grizzlies: Brandon Clarke, PF, Gonzaga A+ Grade

The 6-8 215 lb power forward has the body of a small forward. After averaging 17.5 points per game in 2017-2018 as a sophomore, he only averaged 16.9 points per game in 2018-2019 as a junior. His 8.9 rebounds from last year also dropped to 8.6 rebounds per game. He also saw a decrease in assists per game and three point percentage going from 33.3% to 26.7%.

Clarke improved his field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and steals. Clarke is one of the best blockers in this draft class defensively. Gonzaga's forward would be a depth player on Memphis and this is a role he'd thrive in.

  7. Boston Celtics: Grant Williams, PF, Tennessee C Grade

The 20-year-old Grant Williams averaged 18.8 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game, 3.2 assists per game, a 56.5% field goal percentage, a 81.9% free throw percentage, and a 32.6% three point percentage. Boston got Robert Williams last year so maybe Williams gives Boston another forward for depth who can play power forward or small forward with his versatility at 6-7 235 lbs.

  8. Oklahoma City Thunder: Darius Bazley, SF, Syracuse F Grade

This pick gets an F grade since Bazley never enrolled in College. I'm not sure this pick works out for the Thunder.

  9. Phoenix Suns: Ty Jerome, PG, Virginia C Grade

I have a second round grade on Ty Jerome. Phoenix needed a point guard so you cannot bash this pick.

Ty Jerome averaged 13.6 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, 5.5 assists per game, a 43.5% field goal percentage, a 73.6% field goal percentage, and a 39.9% three point percentage. This is a nice value pick for Phoenix.

  10. Portland Trail Blazers: Nassir Little, SF, North Carolina A+ Grade

Portland takes the best player on the board at 25. Portland has a good starting five with Damian Lillard at point guard, C.J. McCollum at shooting guard, and Jusuf Nurkic at center. Zach Collins can take over at power forward with Enes Kanter gone. Portland just needs a small forward. Nassir Little is grand theft auto robbery this late at 25 so Portland takes him hoping he's the missing piece that allows the Trail Blazers to take over the Western Conference.

The 6-6 220 lb Nassir Little is versatile enough to play small forward or power forward and is a steal here as the top forward on the board. Little is a great defender, but not an elite one. He's very shaky offensively, yet stood out in both the 2019 NBA Combine and at Pro Day Workouts for NBA Teams.

Little may have only averaged 9.8 points per game at North Carolina, but he was a higher graded recruit then teammate Coby White. Maybe working out well for NBA teams will push Little into the lottery range or maybe Little falls late in the first round and ends up being a huge steal for some team.

  11. Cleveland Cavaliers: Dylan Windler, SF, Belmont A+ Grade

Cleveland needed a small forward. They got their guy at 26 after reaching for Darius Garland at 5. Its possible that Cleveland got two starters, but I like this pick better then the Garland pick since they had no small forwards on the active roster.

The 6-8 200 lb Dylan Windler can play small forward or shooting guard with his versatility and he's my top ranked senior in this years NBA Draft after watching his tape where he hit three point shots at will versus Maryland.

One cannot help by raving about his passing, rebounding, offensive awareness, defensive awareness, and basketball IQ. I see someone who has the short-range, mid-range, and long-range shots to dominate on tape as well.

Windler averaged 21.3 points per game, 10.8 rebounds per game, 2.5 assists per game, a 54% field goal percentage, a 84.7% free throw percentage, and a 42.9% three point percentage. Dylan Windler is one of the best shooters and defenders in this class despite his lack of speed or explosiveneess. He's also poised and will not get flustered under pressure. He can contribute with the Cleveland Cavaliers right away.

  12. Los Angeles Clippers: Mfiondu Kabengele, PF, Florida State D Grade

The 6-10 250 lb Mifondu Kabengele is a good depth player, but giving up a second round pick and a 202 first round pick to move up for him seems foolish. His 13.2 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game, and 50.2% field goal percentage are good. He needs to improve as a passer with his offensive awareness though.

  13. Golden State Warriors: Jordan Poole, SG, Michigan F Grade

Jordan Poole is a huge reach at this point. I'm giving the Warriors an F grade he cannot replace Klay Thompson.

  14. San Antonio Spurs: Keldon Johnson, SF, Kentucky A+ Grade

The 6-6 211 lb Keldon Johnson can play small forward or shooting guard with his versatility. I had him going to either Golden State or San Antonio in my very first NBA Mock because I forgot to place him.

The 19-year-old Keldon Johnson was one of the top recruits in College Basketball. Johnson averaged 13.5 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game, 1.6 assists per game, a 46.1% field goal percentage, a 70.3% free throw percentage, and a 38.1% three point percentage.

Keldon Johnson is a small forward for depth worst case scenario. Best case scenario, he wins the small forward job right away next season.

  15. Cleveland Cavaliers: Kevin Porter Jr., SG, USC A Grade

The 6-6 218 lb shooting guard has the ability to shoot a three point shot effectively as well as steal on tape. You have to look past his stats and the also look past the fact that he averages under 9.5 points per game.

This guy checks out all the boxes on tape when healthy. If Kevin Porter Jr. wasn't injured you could honestly argue that this is a top 10 pick for the Cleveland Cavaliers. This pick has A+ grade value, but the Cavaliers gave up four second round picks and cash.
