Kansas City Royals Win 2015 World Series In Extra Innings

The New York Mets controlled the outcome of this game for the first eight innings. Matt Harvey looked phenomenal, but he should have been pulled after eight innings.
Harvey walked Lorenzo Cain in the top of the ninth with no outs. After that Eric Hosmer hit a double that caused Cain to score with 1 out.
The Mets were one out away from winning game 5, but Hosmer ran from third base to home. That tied the game at 2 with 2 outs in teh top of the ninth inning.
The game remained tied at 2 after nine innings. The game went to extra innings and neither team scored the next two innings.
Kansas City broke this game apart in the top of the 12th inning. Christian Colon, the fourth overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft, hit an RBI coming in as a pinch hitter. Jarrod Dyson gave the Royals a 3-2 lead. Alcides Escobar hit a double which put Paulo Orlando on third and gave Colon his first RBI. That put the Royals up 4-2. Then Lorenzo Cain hit a double. That meant Paulo Orlando, Alcides Escobar, and Ben Zobrist all scored. That gave the Royals a 7-2 lead. The Mets did get out of the inning, but by that point the Royals established such a strong lead that the game was theirs to lose.
Kansas City took care of the Mets pretty quickly. The Royals avenged their 2014 World Series loss to the San Francisco Giants by winning game 5 on the road. You have to tip your hat to the Kansas City Royals as they are now the new 2015 World Series Champions. We'll see if either team can get back to the World Series next year, but for now congrats to the Royals in 2015.
