Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: July 9, 2023.

  1. Seattle Mariners: Charlee Soto, P, Reborn Christian Academy HS (FL)

Seattle has two pitchers with expiring contracts in 2027. Seattle can take a High School pitcher to groom for the future here.

The 6-5 197 lb Charlee Soto has a 97 mile per hour fastball, a 85 mile per hour slider with 2,400 rpm, and an 80 mile per hour changeup. Charlie Soto has a scholarship to Central Florida if he doesn't want to sign with Seattle.

  2. Seattle Mariners: Cameron Johnson, P, IMG Academy (FL)

Cameron Johnson picked up right where Jackson Ferris left off. Cameron Johnson managed to go 4-0 at IMG Academy in 2023.

The 6-4 240 lb Cameron Johnson has a 98 mile per hour fastball. He also has a slider and changeup to compliment his fastball. Cameron Johnson dominated at the 2023 MLB Combine.

  3. Tampa Bay Rays: Walker Martin, SS, Eaton HS (CO)

The Tampa Bay Rays get another shortstop prospect for their farm system. The 6-2 185 lb Walker Martin had a .683 batting average and hit 20 home runs at Eaton High School as his home runs for a high school batter was best in the country for a High School batter.

  4. New York Mets: Colt Emerson, SS, Glenn HS (OH)

New York drafts the best player available. The 6-1 197 lb Colt Emerson has a good batting average and is the best player on the board at this point in the first round.

  5. Milwaukee Brewers: Alexander Clemmey, P, Bishop Hendricken HS (RI)

The 6-5 205 lb Alexander Clemmey had a 98 mile per hour fastball and an 80 mile per hour curveball. He's got a decent changeup which could be a third plus pitch down the road, but he needs to refine his command.

  6. Minnesota Twins: Ralphy Velazquez, C, Huntington Beach HS (CA)

The 6-2 215 lb Ralphy Velazquez hit 23 home runs in high school during his four years at Huntington Beach High School. Ralphy Velazquez also has the versatility to play first baseman as well as catcher.

  7. Miami Marlins: George Lombard Jr., SS, Gulliver Prep HS (FL)

The 6-3 190 lb George Lombard Jr. is the son of Atlanta Braves 1994 second round pick George Lombard. George Lombard Jr. had a .323 batting average in 2023.

  8. Los Angeles Dodgers: Samuel Stafura, SS, Panas HS (NY)

The 6-0 187 lb Samuel Stafura has potential to develop into a 20 to 25 home run hitter. If he doesn't go in the first round, someone will gamble on him in the back half of the first round.

  9. Detroit Tigers: Dillon Head, CF, Homewood-Flossmoor HS (IL)

The 6-0 180 lb Dillon Head projects as a line drive batter in the MLB. Detroit gets a utility outfielder for depth here.

  10. Cincinnati Reds: Travis Sykora, P, Round Rock HS (TX)

The 6-6 220 lb Travis Sykora has a 100 mile per hour fastball, an 85 mile per hour slider, and 80 mile per hour chaneup. Travis Sykora is great at delivering pitches in the bottom of the strikezone and should get picked by someone before the second round.

  11. Oakland Athletics: Joey Volchko, P, Redwood HS (CA)

The 6-4 210 lb Joey Volcho went 4-0 with a 0.26 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 2023. Joey Volchko has a 94 mile per hour fastball, a 77 mile per hour slider, and an 80 mile per hour changeup as his three plus pitches. Joey Volchko could develop into a quality number two starter behind Rhett Lowder.
