2026 NFL Mock Draft: Debut

Round 1 Picks 1-16

The 2026 NFL Draft is headlined by LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. Find out who got him in my first 2026 NFL Mock Draft.

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: August 4, 2025.

  1. New York Giants: Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU

If the New York Giants end up with the leagues worst record in 2025 after rotating Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, and this years first round pick Jaxson Dart, it means the current regime failed. It also means a new regime at General Manager and head coach steps in. New regimes mean new quarterbacks.

I got three quarterbacks with the exact same potential grade with a 92/99. All three quarterbacks can make 1-step or 3-step throws. All three quarterbacks can make 5/6 progressions. These three quarterbacks are LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik, and Penn State quarterback Drew Allar. I had a 91 for potential on Cam Ward and a 93 on Shedeur Sanders despite the fact that Ward had a significantly higher floor than Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft. Garrett Nussmeier has the best floor among the quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft, but his floor is lower than last years number one overall pick Cam Ward with potentially a higher ceiling.

The 6-1 205 lb Garrett Nussmeier had 4,052 passing yards, 29 passing touchdowns, 3 rushing touchdowns, 32 total touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and a 64.2% completion percentage after taking over for Jayden Daniels as the starting quarterback at LSU in 2024. Garrett Nussmeier will have a weaker supporting cast at LSU in 2025 and can only run two offensive schemes with a shotgun spread offense and a vertical offense. Nussmeier struggled when his first read wasn't open and opposing defenses managed to get pressure on him on the same exact play. This happened quite a bit, but the good outweighed the bad when it came to decision making from Garrett Nussmeier.

The New York Giants will have a good supporting cast for Garrett Nussmeier on offense including Andrew Thomas at left tackle, John Michael Schmitz at center, Jermaine Elumenor at right tackle, Malik Nabers as their flanker wide receiver, and Theo Johnson at tight end. The New York Giants defense has Dexter Lawrence at 3-4 nose tackle along with three quality pass rushers in Abdul Carter at 3-4 right outisde linebacker, Brian Burns at 3-4 left outside linebacker, Bobby Okereke at 3-4 middle linebacker, Micah McFadden at 3-4 middle linebacker, and Kayvon Thibodeaux as the backup 3-4 outside linebacker, Paulson Adebo at field cornerback, Deonte Banks at boundary cornerback, Dru Phillips at nickel cornerback, Jevon Holland at strong safety, and Tyler Nubin at free with both safeties having the versatility to play either safety role. New York is a place where Garrett Nussmeier should see success as long as the right hires at General Manager and Head Coach are made.

  2. New Orleans Saints: Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson

I love the New Orleans Saints offensive line, but if New Orleans is picking this high it means their quarterback trio failed as well even with a reliable number one wide receiver when healthy in Chris Olave. Tyler Shough, Spencer Rattler, and Jake Haener were all drafted outside of the first round and none of these three look dominant enough to run away with the starting quarterback job with Kellen Moore playing one quarterback on each down in some New Orleans Saints training camp sessions.

The 6-2 210 lb Cade Klubnik had 3,639 passing yards, 463 rushing yards, 4,102 total yards, 36 passing touchdowns, 7 rushing touchdowns, 43 total touchdowns, 6 interceptions, and a 63.4% completion percentage as a junior in 2024. Cade Klubnik opens up the season with Clemson against LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier in a game that may end up deciding the first quarterback drafted in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Cade Klubnik can play in a balanced run first offense, a vertical offense, and a shotgun spread offense. He can run more schemes than Garrett Nussmeier and he's the best quarterback at throwing on the run. His accuracy was inconsistent in last years ACC Championship on tape and that part of Klubnik's game will need to get cleaned up if he's going to succeed in the NFL.

  3. Tennessee Titans: T.J. Parker, 3-4 ROLB, Clemson

T.J. Parker is the best pass rusher in the 2026 NFL Draft. He can line up at 4-3 right end, 4-3 left end, 3-4 right end, 3-4 left end, 3-4 right outside linebacker, and 3-4 left outside linebacker with his versatility.

The 6-3 265 lb T.J. Parker had 17 solo tackles, 15 assisted tackles, 32 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for a loss, 7 quarterback hurries, 5.5 sacks, and 2 deflections from pass breakups as a true freshman in 2023. T.J. Parker had 35 solo tackles, 22 assisted tackles, 57 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 5 quarterback hurries, and 1 deflection from a pass breakup as a true sophomore in 2024.

T.J. Parker's consistency in terms of production and versatility make him the biggest asset among pass rushers in the 2026 NFL Draft. However his motor isn't as consistent as I would like it to be as this feels like a area of improvement in 2026. T.J. Parker relies on his speed to win one-on-ones as you'd like to see him incorporate some rip and swim moves into his game as a pass rusher. I got a 95/99 for potential on T.J. Parker making Parker the second best player on my big board for the 2026 NFL Draft, but I would say T.J. Parker's floor is closer to an 75 than an 85 meaning he may take four years to develop versus two. I'll give Parker a floor of 80 right now meaning Parker probably reaches his ceiling in year 3 of his NFL career in terms of trajectory.

  4. Cleveland Browns: Caleb Downs, FS, Ohio State

Cleveland could go a number of different options at 4. Quarterback is an option, but I do not think there's a quarterback with a higher ceiling than Shedeur Sanders in the 2026 NFL Draft. Left tackle and a 4-3 left end next to Myles Garrett are also options. Tight end, cornerback, and free safety are also options. The number one player on my big board for the 2026 NFL Draft is Ohio State free safety Caleb Downs. He would compliment field cornerback Denzel Ward and strong safety Grant Delpit quite well on this defense.

The 6-0 205 lb Caleb Downs had 70 solo tackles, 37 assisted tackles, 107 total tackles, 4 deflections from pass breakups, 3.5 tackles for a loss, 2 interceptions, 4 returns for 87 yards on punt returns, and 1 special teams touchdown as a true freshman after being a five star recruit in High School in 2023. Caleb Downs had 49 solo tackles, 33 assisted tackles, 82 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss, 6 deflections from pass breakups, 2 interceptions, 1 quarterback hurry, 0.5 sack, 6 returns for 98 yards, and 1 touchdown on special teams leading Ohio State to a National Championship as the top true sophomore in the nation in 2024.

Caleb Downs got an A+ in man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage. Caleb Downs can play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 defense. Eric Berry and Kyle Hamilton were the only two safeties to begin and end their draft years with an A+ in all three coverage categories. Caleb Downs ran a 4.43 40-yard dash this Spring and is closer to Eric Berry than Kyle Hamilton in terms of game speed, but without the versatility to play all three defensive back roles at nickel cornerback, strong safety, and free safety that you want a defensive back that plays safety in the NFL to play. Caleb Downs is a pure free safety, but he fills a need and is arguably the best overall player in the entire 2026 NFL Draft.

  5. New York Jets: Drew Allar, QB, Penn State

New York drafts a quarterback to compete with Justin Fields if the New York Jets finish this badly in 2025. Penn State quarterback Drew Allar is the best quarterback on the board.

The 6-5 235 lb Drew Allar had 3,327 passing yards, 302 rushing yards, 3,629 total yards, 24 passing touchdowns, 6 rushing touchdowns, 30 total touchdowns, 8 interceptions, and a 66.5% completion percentage in 2024. Both Cade Klubnik and Drew Allar were five star recruits coming out of High School. Klubnik started halfway through his true freshman season while Allar didn't start full-time until his sophomore season in 2023.

Drew Allar can play in any offensive scheme whether its a shotgun spread, a balanced run first offense, a west coast offense where he is under center, or a vertical offense. Allar is the only quarterback that has shown me he can play in any offensive scheme. His production is slightly below Nussmeier and Klubnik. He can make a 5-step drop in addition to a 1-step and 3-step drop, but in addition to inconsistent accuracy, Allar also displays choppy sloppy footwork on throws at times.

Drew Allar leads a Penn State team that is my pick to win the 2025 College Football Playoff. Penn State has as many as 9 players with the upside and potential to develop into Pro Bowl talents in the 2026 NFL Draft. Penn State quarterback Drew Allar headlines this group. I got a feeling Drew Allar and Gavin McKenna the top pick in the 2026 NHL Draft both end up leading their teams to National Championships.

  6. Las Vegas Raiders: Anthony Hill Jr., MLB, Texas

Anthony Hill Jr. grades as a 95/99 for potential. After Roquan Smith who got a 98/99 for potential and Tremaine Edmunds a 97/99 for potential, Anthony Hill Jr. is my highest graded middle linebacker since the top two middle linebackers drafted in the 2018 NFL Draft. I have Anthony Hill Jr. third on my early big board behind Caleb Downs and T.J. Parker. I think you could make a very strong case for putting Anthony Hill Jr. at 2 on that big board behind Caleb Downs.

The 6-3 235 lb Anthony Hill Jr. had 59 solo tackles, 54 assisted tackles, 113 total tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss, 8 sackes, 4 quarterback hurries, 4 forced fumbles, 1 deflection from a pass breakup, and 1 interception as a true sophomore in 2024. If Anthony Hill Jr. finds a way to improve on this in 2025, it is going to be very hard to keep him out of the top 10.

Elandon Roberts is a decent stop gap. Tommy Eichenberg has potential to develop into a high end starter, but he's not someone in the blue chip linebacker tier. Anthony Hill Jr. was my first middle linebacker to get an A+ in pass rushing, run stopping, and zone coverage since Roquan Smith. My floor for Anthony Hill Jr is Roquan Smith and my ceiling for Anthony Hill Jr. as far as player comparisons go is former Chicago Bears Hall Of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary.

  7. Minnesota Vikings: Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee

Minnesota will need another cornerback to pair with Mekhi Becton if Byron Murphy Jr. leaves in Free Agency. Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy is one of five players on my big board with a 94/99 for potential. He's also the top cornerback in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The 6-0 193 lb Jermod McCoy had 26 solo tackles, 18 assisted tackles, 44 total tackles, 9 deflections from pass breakups, 4 interceptions, and 0.5 tackles for a loss in 2024. Jermod McCoy was not targeted once in Ohio State's blowout win over Tennessee in the 2024-2025 College Football Playoff which shows you how much Will Howard respected Jermod McCoy's presence on Tennessee's defense.

I gave Jermod McCoy an A+ in man coverage, an A- in zone coverage, and an A in press coverage because even though McCoy is deadly in press coverage, he does keep his hands on receivers too long when playing press coverage and that does lead to penalties which is the biggest reason why I gave McCoy an A instead of an A+ in press coverage. Jermod McCoy can play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 defense. Jermod McCoy tore his ACL back in January and may not play at all in 2025. Jermod McCoy had a 99.9 game athleticism score on Pro Football Focus and is the first defensive back on Tennessee to score that highly since Eric Berry who went fifth overall in the 2010 NFL Draft.

  8. Los Angeles Rams: Lanorris Sellers, QB, South Carolina

Lanorris Sellers only makes 1/6 progressions. He makes up for his lack of progressions by having the strong arm strength and velocity among any quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. I got a 91/99 potential on Lanorris Sellers, but his floor is probably at a 61 right now with Sellers having a similar floor and ceiling to Cleveland Browns third round pick Dillon Gabriel. He's also a duel threat quarterback whose cousins of WNBA draft pick Shyanne Sellers. Sellers is raw, but he could thrive learning under Matthew Stafford for a year in Sean McVay's offense.

The 6-3 240 lb Lanorris Sellers had 2,534 passing yards, 674 rushing yards, 3,208 total yards, 18 passing touchdowns, 7 rushing touchdowns, 25 total touchdowns, and 7 interceptions in his first year as a starting quarterback after taking over for Spencer Rattler in 2024. Lanorris Sellers struggled against LSU early in the season and came within two point of beating Jalen Milroe in Tuscaloosa. He looked much better down the stretch in South Carolina's final three regular season games against Missouri, Wofford, and Clemson where Lanoris Sellers bested Cade Klubnik by helping South Carolina defeat Clemson.

Lanorris Sellers would be set up for failure on most NFL teams unless he took a massive leap in 2025. On the Los Angeles Rams he gets the best coach for a rookie quarterback as well as hands on mentorship from a Super Bowl winning quarterback in Matthew Stafford. That is what gives Lanorris Sellers a fighting chance to reach his potential and be the steal of the 2026 NFL Draft.

  9. Seattle Seahawks: Kyle Louis, 3-4 ROLB, Pittsburgh

Seattle gets a pass rusher for their 3-4 defense. One of the best pass rushers in the 2026 NFL Draft that isn't getting enough attention is Pittsburgh linebacker Kyle Louis who can be utilized as an edge rusher, run stuffer, and a coverage linebacker. He is extremely versatile as well.

Kyle Louis can play 4-3 right end, 4-3 left end, 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 middle linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, 3-4 right outside linebacker, 3-4 middle linebacker, and 3-4 left outside linebacker. This guy is like a swiss army knife in the front 7 that Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi operates.

The 6-0 225 Kyle Louis had 45 solo tackles, 56 assisted tackles, 101 total tackles, 15.5 tackles for a loss, 9 quarterback hurries, 7 sacks, 4 interceptions, 3 deflections from pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, 1 blocked kick/punt, and 1 defensive touchdown on a pick 6 in 2024. Kyle Louis also got an A+ grade in both man coverage and zone coverage which is pretty rare for a linebacker. I have a 93/99 potential on Kyle Louis as Louis is my tenth best player in my early 2026 NFL Draft big board making him an ideal fit for the Seattle Seahawks with the ninth pick in this 2026 NFL Mock Draft.

  10. Denver Broncos: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State

Denver gets a number two wide receiver to pair with Courtland Sutton on the outside. This also allows Marvin Mims Jr. to move to slot receiver. Evan Engram is now the starting tight end. Drafting Jordyn Tyson the top wide receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft as a number two wide receiver next to Courtland Sutton gives Bo Nix another weapon in the Denver Broncos offense.

The 6-1 195 lb Jordyn Tyson had 75 receptions, 1,101 receiving yards, and 10 receiving touchdowns as a sophomore in 2024. I got a 94/99 for potential on Jordyn Tyson. He is the only wide receiver currently in the top 10 of my big board for the 2026 NFL Draft.

Jordyn Tyson ran 14/30 routes on the route tree. That is slightly below average, but if he can build on his spectacular sophomore season and improve his route tree, he could go even higher than where he is currently projected. On the flip side, if he regresses he could fall in the draft.

  11. Miami Dolphins: Kendrick Faulk, 3-4 LOLB, Auburn

Kendrick Faulk lined up at 4-3 right end, 4-3 left end, 3-4 right outside linebacker, and 3-4 left outside linebacker at Auburn this past season. Most have Kendrick Faulk as the second best pass rusher behind T.J. Parker, but Kyle Louis impressed me more on film which is why Faulk fell out of the top 10. Miami can draft Faulk as a replacement to Jaelan Phillips with either Bradley Chubb or Chop Robinson as the main 3-4 right outside linebacker complimenting him.

The 6-5 288 lb Kendrick Faulk had 29 solo tackles, 16 assisted tackles, 45 total tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, 7 sacks, 7 quarterback hurries, 1 forced fumble, and 1 deflection from a pass breakup in 2024. Kendrick Faulk may have the size of a 5-technique, but he only has the experience of lining up as an edge rusher versus playing on the interior as a 3-4 defensive end.

  12. Dallas Cowboys: Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame

Dallas drafts a running back here. Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love is fourth on my big board with a 95/99 potential and is the best player on my big board by quite a margin at this point in the draft.

The 6-0 214 lb Jeremyiah Love had 153 carries, 1,125 rushing yards, 17 rushing touchdowns, 28 receptions, 237 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns, 181 touches, 1,362 total yards, and 19 total touchdowns in 2024.

Jeremiyah Love has the speed, pass catching, ball carrier vision, and pass blocking you want in an NFL running back. His predecessors Kyren Williams and Audric Estime checked off these boxes as well and Love looks like he should be better than Estime and has a shot to be just as good as Kyren Williams with potentialy more game speed. Giving the Dallas Cowboys offensive line and quarterback Dak Prescott a bell cow like this for the first time since Ezekiel Elliott was on his rookie deal would do wonders for the Dallas Cowboys offense.

  13. Chicago Bears: Nicholas Singleton, RB, Penn State

Chicago gets a running back to compliment D'Andre Swift in the short-term and replace Swift in the long-term. Detroit drafted Jahmyr Gibbs in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft to compliment David Montgomery before making him the bell cow when Ben Johnson was Detroit's offensive coordinator. There were a lot of rumors about Ashton Jeanty to Chicago last year even though that never transpired. I believe Johnson will try to bring the two running back system he had in Detroit to Chicago should Caleb Williams fail to get Chicago to the playoffs in year two. I think Caleb Williams can get Chicago to the playoffs by his third season, but Chicago's schedule is just hell this season.

Not only would Caleb Williams have a run heavy offense like Detroit. Caleb Williams would have weapons like D.J. Moore, Rome Oduzne, and Luther Burden III at wide receiver. Caleb Williams would also have a two tight end set with Cole Kmet and Coslton Loveland with the addition of Nicholas Singleton in this backfield. There would be zero excuses for Caleb Williams entering his third season in 2026.

The 6-0 224 lb Nicholas Singleton had 156 carries, 1,061 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 11 receptions, 85 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 167 touches, 1,146 total yards, and 13 total touchdowns as a true freshman in 2022. Nicholas Singleton had 171 carries, 752 rushing yards, 8 rushing touchdowns, 26 receptions, 308 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns, 197 touches, 1,060 total yards, and 10 total touchdowns as a sophomore in 2023. Nicholas Singleton had 172 carries, 1,099 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 41 receptions, 375 receiving yards, 5 receiving touchdowns, 213 touches, 1,376 total yards, and 17 total touchdowns as a junior in 2024.

Nicholas Singleton could have declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, but he opted to return to Penn State for his senior season. Nicholas Singleton has the speed, pass catching, ball carrier vision, and pass blocking. He checks every box you want in an NFL running back like Jeremiyah Love, but doesn't have the top end game speed Love has which is why he is the second best running back in this draft behind Love.

  14. Carolina Panthers: Spencer Fano, RT, Utah

Carolina is going to have to extend Ikem Ekwonu their 2022 first round pick soon and Taylor Moton enters the final year of his contract after being Carolina's 2017 second round pick. Carolina is probably letting Moton walk and reloading at offensive tackle if Ikem Ekwonu gets extended. Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano has experience on both sides of the offensive line and makes a lot of sense for Carolina. The last offensive tackle Carolina drafted out of Utah was Jordan Gross and that worked out well for the Carolina Panthers before injuries caught up to Gross.

The 6-6 302 lb Spencer Fano has the pass blocking, pass blocking strength, pass blocking footwork, run blocking, run blocking strength, run blocking footwork, zone blocking, pancake blocking, pull blocking, and cut blocking you want in an offensive tackle. Having the versatility to play both offensive tackle roles starting at left tackle as a true freshman before moving to right tackle as a true sophomore shows he is versatile enough to plug into either offensive tackle role. I have a 94/99 on two offensive tackles in the 2026 NFL Draft with one of those being Utah right tackle Spencer Fano and Alabama left tackle Kadyn Proctor. Fano had way better tape than Proctor from what I saw.

If Bryce Young turns the corner this year, you will have to worry about paying him. If that happens, Carolina will most likely only have enough money for either Ikem Ekwonu or Tayor Moton which is why Spencer Fano comes into play here. I have Carolina leading the NFC South down the stretch before losing a week 18 road contest to the eventual NFC South Champion. Carolina would likely have Ikem Ekwonu at left tackle, Damien Lewis at left guard, Robert Hunt at right guard, and Spencer Fano at right tackle if Carolina cannot keep Taylor Moton around.

  15. Green Bay Packers: Kadyn Proctor, LT, Alabama

Green Bay extended right tackle Zach Tom. Left tackle Rasheed Walker will probably get replaced. Alabama left tackle Kadyn Proctor makes sense here.

The 6-7 360 lb Kadyn Proctor has the pass blocking, pass blocking strength, pass blocking footwork, run blocking, run blocking strength, and pancake blocking you want. His run blocking footwork is abysmal as Proctor is a liability as a run blocker when he doesn't get his hands on a defender. He is not a great zone blocker and does not seem like someone who excels as a pull blocker or a cut blocker despite his massive size.

Kadyn Proctor could be the top left tackle in the 2026 NFL Draft. He transferred to Iowa twice for more NIl money before going back to Alabama. He also has character issues despite his immense potential. Taking him at 5 feels a fireable offense, but a team like the Green Bay Packers may be able to get the most out of him giving Jordan Love a premium blindside if they can fix the weaknessess Proctor has as well as his attitude. Green Bay would have Kadyn Proctor at left tackle, Aaron Banks at left guard, Elgton Jenkins at center, Jordan Morgan at right guard, and Zach Tom at right tackle with that offensive line doing wonders for quarterback Jordan Love and running back Josh Jacobs.

  16. Indianapolis Colts: Avieon Terrell, CB, Clemson

Indianapolis gets a shutdown cornerback to compliment Charvarius Ward. If Indianapolis somehow lives up to my 8-9 projection, which they probably will not, then Anthony Richardson gets a fourth year. In this scenario, getting a cornerback to pair with Charvarius Ward becomes an option. Justin Walley might end up supplanting both JuJu Brents and Jaylon Jones as a starting cornerback after being the Colts 2025 third round pick and if Walley does, he could replace Kenny Moore II as the nickel cornerback. Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell is the younger brother of Atlanta Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell as Avieon Terrell makes a lot of sense for the Indianapolis Colts here.

The 5-11 180 lb Avieon Terrell had 45 solo tackles, 13 assisted tackles, 58 total tackles, 12 deflections from pass breakups, 4.5 tackles for a loss, 3 forced fumbles, 2 interceptions, and 1 sack in 2024. Avieon Terrell should be even better in 2025.

I gave Avieon Terrell an A+ in man coverage, a C+ in zone coverage, and a A+ in press coverage. Avieon Terrell can play in a cover 0, cover 1, or cover 2 defense. Avieon Terrell will struggle in cover 3 if he is playing zone coverage and will absolutely struggle in cover 4 since zone coverage is his weakness. Terrell can emerge as a challenger to Jermod McCoy for the top cornerback in the 2026 NFL Draft if he fixes his zone coverage since McCoy may miss all of this season recovering from a torn ACL back in a January practice after Tennessee lost their playoff game to Ohio State.
