Josiah Ray's 2018 NFL Mock Draft: 2.0

Round 1 Picks 17-32

Josiah Ray Last Updated: April 2, 2018.

  1. Los Angeles Chargers: Derwin James, SS, Florida State

James is locked in as the best DB prospect, hits hard, can play any position in the secondary, his pro comparison is Ramsey and he would bolster a chargers D that's borderline elite, having him on the back would improve them drastically assuming everyone stays healthy and they get a kicker they could be playoffs, but its the Chargers so you know.

  2. Seattle Seahawks: Chukwuma Okorafor, LT, Western Michigan

He's a underrated talent at LT and gives Seattle a solid piece on their OL as they try build a run game and retool their offense.

Previous Pick: Orlando Brown Jr., LT, Oklahoma

  3. Dallas Cowboys: Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State

Ward is a good corner but is getting rated alot higher than his talent. He's a solid guy and should fill a hole at corner for Dallas though with them signing Hurns I think corner and pass rush is their biggest needs now.

Previous Pick: Clelin Ferrell, RE, Clemson

  4. Detroit Lions: Da'Ron Payne, DT, Alabama

Detroit needs a DL and Payne may be the best player they had since Suh, he's a versatile and athletic guy who can play any position on the DL and has a unusual combo strength and speed, 8 honestly feel he may be the steal of the draft right here.

Previous Pick: Derrick Nnadi, DT, Florida State

  5. Cincinnati Bengals: Arden Key, ROLB, LSU

Cincinnati is looking to move on from Burfict or at least tried to so giving them a top pass rusher to replace or help is a good move, they added Glenn to shore up the OL so now they can focus on defense.

Previous Pick: Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU

  6. Cleveland Browns: Derrius Guice, RB, LSU

Cleveland signed Hyde but they still add a rb likely, a lot of people have Barkley mocked to them at either 1 or 4 but trading down allows them to add a star tackle to help replace Joe Thomas and also get Derrius Guice who would be a RB1 in most draft classes, Dorsey adds a franchise QB, franchise LT, and franchise RB in the 1st and still has a bunch of picks later on, exec of the year?

Previous Pick: Will Hernandez, LG, UTEP

  7. Los Angeles Rams: Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M

Kirk reminds me of Antonio brown hes a great route runner and is very elusive and versatile. Adding him replaces Watkins and improves on that position giving Goff and McVay another weapon in their quest to be the top NFC team.

Previous Pick: Tarvarus McFadden, CB, Florida State

  8. Carolina Panthers: Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville

Carolina hasn't had a legitimate #1 corner since norman and Alexander is that guy, he was the top dog according to many at the start of the year before injuries hurt him. He played well when he did play however and is healthy now, I think Carolina takes a chance and could end up with a all pro CB if he stays healthy. The upside is too great to pass on.

Previous Pick: Trey Adams, LT, Washington

  9. Tennessee Titans: D.J. Chark, WR, LSU

Mariota is decent albeit still young, Henry takes over as the top RB with Lewis to complement him. Decker leaves meaning they have a hole, Davis did well towards the end but Mariota needs weapons so that should be priority #1, Chark is the fastest wr in this draft and is a great route runner and playmaker, he can be even better than Davis who was picked much higher. If they both reach their potential Davis and chark may be the top duo in the league for years.

Previous Pick: Bradley Chubb, RE, North Carolina State

  10. Atlanta Falcons: Taven Bryan, DT, Florida

Atlanta lost poe and has a hole at DT, Bryant is a beast though and should be a upgrade. And much younger.

Previous Pick: Martinas Rankin, LT, Mississippi State

  11. New Orleans Saints: Vita Vea, DT, Washington

Vea is very athletic and is a great NT to eat up space he should be a huge help and get Jordan better match ups and more sacks.

Previous Pick: Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State

  12. Pittsburgh Steelers: Rashaan Evans, 3-4 MLB, Alabama

With Shazier hurt and not likely to play this year they have a big hole at ILB. With Ben in his final years they will be wanting to contend and fill that hole with Evans who is a natural LB with great instinct.

Previous Pick: Ronnie Harrison, FS, Alabama

  13. Jacksonville Jaguars: Malik Jefferson, LOLB, Texas

Jefferson is a solid LB that can play ILB and OLB, he's versatile and will be a solid addition to the top D in the league. Tight end is also a possibility here with likely mark Andrews from OU being the target.

Previous Pick: Martez Ivey, LG, Florida

  14. Minnesota Vikings: Kolton Miller, LT, UCLA

Minnesota has few holes so they take a lineman to improve the most important group in football. Their offensive tackles Riley Reiff and Mike Remmers are solid for the short-term, but neither is a long-term answer. Luckily for Minnesota, Miller is raw, but has great athleticism so if they develop him they can get their future blindside and then cut Reiff or Remmers in 2019 whoever sucks more to save cap space.

Previous Pick: Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

  15. New England Patriots: Donte Jackson, CB, LSU

New England lost Butler and has a huge need with unproven guys, Jackson also brings lots more with elite speed and ability to play ST and even offense.

Previous Pick: Tyquan Lewis, LE, Ohio State

  16. Philadelphia Eagles: Harold Landry, LOLB, Boston College

Philadelphia gets a steal in a OLB to make their front 7 the undisputed best, they may even be the best ever. With Wentz returning their offense looks fine so building on their strength is gonna be huge in their mission to repeat.

Previous Pick: Derrius Guice, RB, LSU
