Elias Salomonsson entered the year as the ninth best player in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft heading into the season. He still hasn't gotten promoted to the SHL despite playing a first line defenseman role on Skelleftea AIK Under 20 Team. He played in 3 SHL games at the end of last season and had 0 points so maybe the organization doesn't believe he's ready to play against men. Corey Prongman and Scott Wheeler of The Athletic had an interesting choice of words when describing Salomonsson. Prongman praised his offense "He's a 6-foot-2, mobile defenseman with offense. The skill won’t jump out at you, but he can make strong outlets, has some offensive zone instincts and a hard point shot.", while Wheeler critiqued his defense, "Salomonsson's defensive game has some warts. His positioning and reads can be sloppy, but some of that will polish over time. I really like his comfort level under pressure and confidence for a player as young as he is." This will probably be the last time I have Elias Salomonsson in my top 10. He's one player that's moved out of my top 10 in my next NHL Mock Draft after further evaluating him since he's not playing in the SHL at a consistent level yet.
