2015 NBA Mock Draft: 2 Rounds

Round 1 Picks 16-30

Posted By: Chris Ransom Last Updated: June, 25, 2015

  1. Boston Celtics: Sam Dekker, SF, Wisconsin

Boston needs a small forward. Sam Dekker is the best available player on the board. Boston will grab Dekker in a heartbeat if he slips out of the top 15. Louisville point guard Terry Rozier is another player the Celtics are high on, but Dekker is simply too good to pass on here at 16.

  2. Milwaukee Bucks: R.J. Hunter, SG, Georgia State

R.J. Hunter has good shooting range and accuracy with short range, medium range, and long range shots. I think the Bucks add R.J. Hunter as a building block around Jabari Parker with this pick.

Previous Pick: Kelly Oubre, SF, Kansas

  3. Houston Rockets: Terry Rozier, PG, Louisville

Houston needs a new point guard now that Jeremy Lin is on the Lakers. Jerian Grant has the versatility to play either point guard or shooting guard and he's a top 20 talent after a dominant 2015 NCAA Tournament.

Terry Rozier had a breakout season n 2014-2015 where he posted 17.1 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, 3 assists per game, and 2 steals per game. Rozier looks like a pretty complete point guard. I cannot see him escaping the top 20 overall.

Previous Pick: Jerian Grant, SG, Notre Dame

  4. Washington Wizards: Christian Wood, PF, UNLV

Washington has the luxury to go with the best player available. At this point that player is UNLV power forward Christian Wood.

  5. Toronto Raptors: Rashad Vaughn, SG, UNLV

Toronto could gets a guard for depth. Rashad Vaughn is the best player on the board a a second straight UNLV player rounds out our top 20.

  6. Dallas Mavericks: Delon Wright, PG, Utah

Dallas had a good starting 5. Marcus Paige is returning to school. Also, center Tyson Chandler and point guard Rajon Ronndo are unrestricted Free Agents after this season.

Dallas has to get a point guard or center in the first round. Delon Wright has the versatility to play point guard or shooting guard. That's why I got the Mavericks adding Wright at 21.

Previous Pick: Terry Rozier, PG, Louisville

  7. Chicago Bulls: Norman Powell, SG, UCLA

Chicago needs a shooting guard for depth. The Chicago Bulls gave Norman Powell a late first round grade. The 6-4 215 lb Powell was the best player for UCLA during the Bruins NCAA Tournament run to the Sweet 16.

Previous Pick: Mario Hezonja, SG, F.C. Barcelona

  8. Portland Trail Blazers: Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, SF, Arizona

Portland could use an upgrade at small forward. Ronda Hollis-Jefferson falls quite a bit on Draft Day. He won't make it past the Trail Blazers.

  9. Cleveland Cavaliers: Kevon Looney, PF, UCLA

Cleveland is looking at 3 different power forwards at 24. Those guys are Kevon Looney out of UCLA, Chris McCullough out of Syracuse, and Montrezl Harrell out of Louisville.

Cleveland seems to prefer Looney over the other two guys. I have to admit that Looney would make a solid backup to Kevin Love. If Love opts out of his deal, Looney would have to start right away in Cleveland.

Previous Pick: Dakari Johnson, C, Kentucky

  10. Memphis Grizzlies: Dakari Johnson, C, Kentucky

Marc Gasol will be a free agent in 2015. Memphis will need a new center if Gasol bolts for another big market team as expected. The Grizzlies backup center is also a free agent. Kaleb Tarczewski is returning to Arizona for his senior season after most of Arizona's starters left for the NBA.

Dakari Johnson is the top center available. He'd be a great fit for Memphis at 25.

Previous Pick: Robert Upshaw, C, Washington

  11. San Antonio Spurs: Kelly Oubre, SF, Kansas

Kawhi Leonard may not be back next year. How the hell did Kelly Oubre slip to 26 in our final mock? He's too talented to slide that far.

Previous Pick: Montrezl Harrell, PF, Louisville

  12. Los Angeles Lakers: Justin Anderson, SF, Virginia

The Lakers need a starting small forward really bad. They can use this pick to get one.

  13. Boston Celtics: Montrezl Harrell, PF, Louisville

Boston has Jared Sullinger. At the same time the Celtics have two power forwards with expiring contracts in Brandon Bass and Jonas Jerebko.

Louisville power forward Montrezl Harrell is a guy that the Celtics have scouted extensively. Boston is extremely impressed with teh top 2 student athletes coached by Rick Pitino who used to coach the Boston Celtics in the NBA I believe.

Previous Pick: Cliff Alexander, PF, Kansas

  14. Brooklyn Nets: Chris McCullough, PF, Syracuse

Brooklyn desperately needs a power forward after losing Kevin Garnett. Chris McCullough, a local in state kid from Syracuse, is a first to second round prospect that makes a lot of sense at 29.

Previous Pick: Jonathan Holmes, PF, Kansas

  15. Golden State Warriors: Jonathan Holmes, PF, Texas

Golden State has most of their players under contract until 2017 with point guard Steph Curry, small forward Andre Iguodala, and center Andrew Bogut all under contract until then. Shooting guard Klay Thompson is under contract until 2020. Starting power forward Draymond Green will be a restricted Free Agent this offseason. David Lee the backup power forward who headed into the season as the starting power forward prior to an injury will have an expiring contract next season along with starting small forward Harrison Barnes.

Jonathan Holmes is the top power forward available. Golden State takes him to wrap up the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft.

Previous Pick: Rakeem Christmas, PF, Syracuse
