2017 Fantasy Baseball Third Base Rankings

- Kris Bryant, 3B, Chicago Cubs
- The 2016 NL MVP may be the complete package at third base. He batted .292 in 2016 and is capable of reaching .300. He is a guy who can have a 1.000 fielding percentage. After hitting 39 home runs in 2016 I expect him to reach 40 home runs in 2017. Bryant is also a guy I see getting 20 stolen bases. I expect another big year from Kris Bryant during the regular season making him my top third baseman for now.
- Nolan Arenado, 3B, Colorado Rockies
- Nolan Arenado has back-to-back seasons of 41 home runs and 130 RBI's. There are people that have him ranked ahead of Kris Bryant. That's how high Fantasy Baseball people are on Nolan Arenado.
- Josh Donaldson, 3B, Toronto Blue Jays
- Josh Donaldson can bat .285 consistently. Donaldson can also hit anywhere between 37 and 41 home runs making him a safe bet to exceed 35 home runs. He's worthy of a top 10 pick and a first round lock at this point.
- Manny Machado, 3B, Baltimore Orioles
- Manny Machado is a top 12 player who can consistently hit 35 to 37 home runs and he's only 24-years-old. He's a first round pick in a 12 team league and a very early second round pick in a 10 team league.
- Matt Carpenter, 3B, St. Louis Cardinals
- Matt Carpenter has been one of the more consistent third baseman in the MLB. He has position eligibility to be used as a first baseman in Fantasy leagues as well this year.
- Anthony Rendon, 3B, Washington Nationals
- Anthony Rendon may due for a breakout season after being a highly touted third baseman out of Rice in the 2011 MLB Draft. Rendon is expected to have a .285 batting average with 25 home runs and 100 RBI's. Rendon could be a big time player waiting to blossom in 2017.
- Alex Bregman, 3B, Houston Astros
- The second overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft converted from shortstop to third base. Bregman could have 100 runs, 25 home runs, 75 RBI's, and 10 stolen bases for the Houston Astros. I am expecting Bregman to make a huge splash in 2017.
- Kyle Seager, 3B, Seattle Mariners
- Kyle Seager hit 30 home runs and 99 RBI's in 2016. I think Seager can match his 30 home runs potentially hitting 35 home runs plus hit 100 RBI's in 2017.
- Adrian Beltre, 3B, Texas Rangers
- Adrian Beltre batted .300 and hit 32 home runs in 2016. Beltre is capable of batting .300 again and hitting 35 home runs in 2017. I doubt Beltre hits 100 RBI's, but he's still a top ten third baseman in fantasy baseball.
- Jose Ramirez, 3B, Cleveland Indians
- Jose Ramirez batted .312 after having a minor league batting average in his career of .304 in 2016. I think Ramirez can bat around .304 in 2017, but I expect his batting average to drop. Even though Ramirez batting average will decrease I expect his home runs and RBI's to go up in 2017. Ramirez is only 24-years-old so there is a lot of potential for Ramirez to develop. The sky is the limit with Jose Ramirez.
- Evan Longoria, 3B, Tampa Bay Rays
- Evan Longoria rebounded in 2016 with 36 home runs after two rocky seasons with the Rays. Longoria will be a top ten third baseman once again in 2018 if he can match his 2016 performance in 2017.
- Justin Turner, 3B, Los Angeles Dodgers
- Justin Turner was the top third baseman available on the Free Agency market and he re-signed with the Dodgers. Turner improved from 60 RBI's in 2015 to 90 RBI's in 2016. Turner also improved from 16 home runs in 2015 to 27 home runs in 2016.
- Todd Frazier, 3B, Chicago White Sox
- Todd Frazier has developed into a home run machine. He hit 35 home runs winning the home run derby in 2015 with Cincinnati and 40 home runs in 2016 with the Chicago White Sox.
- Jake Lamb, 3B, Arizona Diamondbacks
- Jake Lamb has potential to be a top 15 third baseman. He's someone you will have to monitor real closely this spring.
- Eugenio Suarez, 3B, Cincinnati Reds
- Eugenio Suarez went from 48 to 70 RBI's in 2016. Suarez may be a breakout player, but I want to see where he ends up in the Reds batting lineup before taking a better look at him.
- Mike Moustakas, 3B, Kansas City Royals
- Mike Moustakas had a down year in 2016. Moustakas enters a contract year with the Royals and that's why I expect him to rebound.
- Nick Castellanos, 3B, Detroit Tigers
- Nick Castellanos has a down year in 2016. He's expected to improve in 2017.
- Ryon Healy, 3B, Oakland Athletics
- Ryon Healy batted .305 with 13 home runs and 37 RBI's. He began last year on the Midland Rockhounds who won the last two Texas League Championships. Healy is going to be used as a utility player, but he's someone you should consider taking if you are in a dynasty league.
- Maikel Franco, 3B, Philadelphia Phillies
- Maikel Franco had 25 home runs and 88 RBI's in 2016. We aren't expecting him to improve those numbers, but we believe he could match the 25 home runs and 88 RBI's he posted last season.
- Jung Ho Kang, 3B, Pittsburgh Pirates
- Jung Ho Kang can be a top 15 third baseman when he is clean off the field. A lot of off the field issues have us in buyer beware mode when it comes to Jung Ho Kang. The Pirates drafted third baseman Will Craig out of Wake Forest in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft. With Jung Ho Kang's off the field incidents you have to believe he's just a fill-in player at third base until Craig finishes developing in the minors.
