Chicago was active adding both Buffalo Bills middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and Philadelphia Eagles middle linebacker T.J. Edwards in Free Agency. Edwards will probably move to a 4-3 right outside linebacker role with Jack Sanborn moving to 4-3 left outside linebacker.
The 6-3 235 lb Bumper Pool had 37 solo tackles, 55 assisted tackles, 92 total tackles, 5 quarterback hurries, 4.5 tackles for a loss, 3 deflections from pass breakups, and 2 sacks in 2022. Bumper Pool finished his career at Arkansas with 441 career tackles surpassing Tony Bua's total of 408 career tackles at Arkansas. Bumper Pool looked better than teammate Drew Sanders when Arkansas faced Texas A&M earlier this season.
The Philadelphia Eagles have Fletcher Cox, Jordan Davis, and Milton Williams at 4-3 defensive tackle. One more guy could be added.
The 6-1 302 lb D.J. Dale had 7 solo tackles, 10 assisted tackles, 17 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, 1 quarterback hurry, and 1 deflection from a pass breakup in 2022. D.J. Dale also ran a 5.26 40 time at the 2023 NFL Combine.
Las Vegas gets a right tackle to compete with Thayer Munford Jr. for the starting right tackle job. Nick Saldiveri out of Old Dominion is a great value pick at right tackle this late in the seventh round.
The 6-6 311 lb Nick Saldiveri played right tackle at Old Dominion. This is a depth player that I see serving as a nice backup right tackle to Thayer Munford Jr..
Indianapolis gets a backup left tackle in the seventh round. My top backup left tackle this late in the draft is Troy Trojans left tackle Austin Stidham.
The 6-5 292 lb Austin Stidham has the pass blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking, run blocking strength, and run blocking footwork. Austin Stidham just needs to add more muscle and improve his pass blocking strength. He's not as big of a project as most people believe and he's an under the radar player at left tackle in the 2023 NFL Draft. He would be a good backup to Bernard Raimannn at left tackle.
I posted a film cut of Troy's offensive line VS Appalachian State. Troy has two draftable offensive linemen in left tackle Austin Stidham and center Jake Andrews.
San Francisco gets another cornerback for depth. One value pick in the seventh round that is really good is Kentucky cornerback Carrington Valentine. Honestly, I think I may have mocked him too low.
The 6-0 193 lb Carrington Valentine got an A- grade in man coverage, an A grade in zone coverage, and a C+ grade in press coverage. Carrington Valentine can play cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 coverage schemes.
Carrington Valentine had 34 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, 48 total tackles, 10 deflections from pass breakups, 1.5 tackles for a loss, 1 interception, 1 sack, 1 quarterback hurry, and 1 fumble recovery in 2022. Carrington Valentine stood out on tape against Florida with his man and zone coverage, but needs to improve his press coverage.
Carrington Valentine didn't work out at the 2023 NFL Combine. He worked out at Kentucky's 2023 Pro Day where he had a 4.38 40 yard dash, a 39 inch vertical, and 9 reps on the bench press.
The Los Angeles Rams get a left guard here in the seventh round. Kansas Jayhawks left tackle Earl Bostick Jr. has the versatility to start at left tackle, left guard, right guard, and right tackle.
The 6-5 311 lb Earl Bostick Jr. began his career as a bookend at right tackle to Hakeem Adeniji who played left tackle at Kansas prior to being drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020. Earl Bostick Jr. moved to left tackle shortly after that. Earl Bostick Jr. showed the versatiity to play both left guard and right guard at the 2023 East West Shrine Bowl. Los Angeles drafts Earl Bostick Jr. as a left guard in round 7.
Los Angeles now has Joseph Noteboom at left tackle, Earl Bostick Jr. at left guard, Brian Allen at center, Logan Bruss at right guard, and Rob Havenstein at right tackle.
The Atlanta Falcons draft a guy who can compete for a slot receiver job in the seventh round. Stanford wide receiver Michael Wilson impressed me against Washington despite failing to wow me. Washington produces a lot of NFL cornerbacks, so if Wilson can play against Washington he warrants a flyer here in the seventh round.
The 6-1 216 lb Michael Wilson ha 26 receptions, 418 receiving yards, and 4 receiving touchdowns in 2022. He could challenge for the slot receiver job.
Atlanta gets a safety for depth here. Jay Ward can play cornerback and safety with his versatility. Jay Ward will be a backup free safety to Jessie Bates III in the seventh round.
The 6-1 186 lb Jay Ward is versatile enough to play cornerback and free safety. He's a great value pick for Atlanta since he played both nickel cornerback and free safety at LSU.
Jacksonville got this seventh round pick from Carolina in the C.J. Henderson trade. I am giving Jacksonville a nose tackle to compliment Davon Hamilton.
The 6-3 343 lb Jerrod Clark would compliment Davon Hamilton at nose tackle. Davon Hamilton enters the final year of his rookie deal and it's possible Jacksonville doesn't re-sign Hamilton unless he breaks out in the final year of his rookie deal. At the very worst, Clark is a very good backup nose tackle.
Tennessee grabs a tight end for depth to compliment Chigoziem Okonkwo. Jahleel Billingsley is my top tight end on the board in the seventh round. Jahleel billingsley declared for the 2023 NFL Draft.
The 6-4 220 lb Jahleel Billingsley once played at Alabama before transferring to Texas. He only had 3 receptions for 28 receiving yards in 4 games. He improved as a run blocking opening up holes for Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson.
The Cleveland Browns get a third string tight end for depth behind David Njoku and Harrison Bryant. Louisville tight end Marshon Ford is my top tight end available.
The 6-2 240 lb Marshon Ford played both fullback and tight end for Louisville in 2022. Marshon Ford had 20 receptions, 292 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns as a freshman redshirt in 2019. Marshon Ford had 25 receptions, 309 receiving yards, and 6 receiving touchdowns as a sophomore redshirt in 2020. Marshon Ford had 49 receptions, 550 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns as a junior redshirt in 2021. Marshon Ford had 33 receptions, 434 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns as a senior redshirt in 2022.
Houston gets a 4-3 middle linebacker here. Houston added Denzel Perryman by signing him to a one-year deal. I found an FCS player that may be able to develop into a starting middle linebacker.
The 6-0 230 lb Johnny Buchanan had 63 solo tackles, 87 assisted tackles, 150 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, 1 deflection from a pass breakup, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery in 2022. Johnny Buchanan made a statement in Delaware's season opener which was a road win where FCS team Delaware defeated FBS team Navy.
Delaware defeated Navy 14-7. Johnny Buchanan had 9 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, 23 total tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, and 1 forced fumble in Delaware's road win over Navy. Delware kept Navy scoreless for nearly three quarters in this game.
Las Vegas drafts another cornerback for depth here. Virginia cornerback Anthony Johnson is my top ranked cornerback on the board in the seventh round.
The 6-1 207 lb Anthony Johnson had 34 solo tackles, 17 assisted tackles, 51 total tackles, 12 deflections from pass breakups, 3 tackles for a loss, 2 interceptions, and 1 quarterback hurry in 2022. Anthony Johnson is the next NFL product from Virginia's secondary after having guys like Juan Thornhill and Bryce Hall.
I gave Anthony Johnson an A+ grade in man coverage, a D+ grade in zone coverage, an A+ grade in press coverage, an A grade in run stuffing, and a C- grade in wrapping up tackles after watching him against Syracuse in 2022. Anthony Johnson has great game film and impressed me as a physical man press corner that can dominate in cover 0, cover 1, and cover 2 coverage schemes.
I initially gave Anthony Johnson a D- in zone coverage after watching his Syracuse tape in 2022. However, Johnson improved his zone coverage at the 2023 Reese's Senior Bowl to the point where you can argue his zone coverage warrants a C or C- grade instead of a D- grade which is why I bumped him up to a D+ in zone coverage after taking C and D- zone coverage grades to determine the median. If Jim Nagy tells me his zone coverage is better than I'm making it out to be, I'm open to adjusting this grade.
Anthony Johnson won one-on-ones against Andrei Iosivias, Rashee Rice, and Jonathan Mingo during both 1-on-1 practice sessions with WRs vs DBs and the 2023 Reese's Senior Bowl Game showcasing his elite man and press coverage in front of NFL scouts. Anthony Johnson ran a 4.62 40-yard dash at the 2023 NFL Combine, but he needs to be drafted despite his 40 time since he's so freaking dominant when playing man and press coverage. If I had to pick one player from this years Senior Bowl that Reese's Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy hasn't tweeted about enough my nominee is Virginia cornerback Anthony Johnson since Nagy has tweeted about both Iosivas and Mingo who lost one-on-ones to Anthony Johnson in Mobile.
Green Bay gets a third running back to compliment Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon in the seventh round. Tulsa running back Deneric Prince makes a lot of sense in the seventh round.
A.J. Dillon is in the final year of his rookie deal. Deneric Prince has the speed, pass catching, and ball carrier vision. His pass blocking isn't a strength, but it's not a weakness either. There was one play where Deneric Prince pass blocked well and then transitioned from blocker to receiving target by catching a pass.
The 5-11 217 lb Deneric Prince had 126 carries, 729 rushing yards, 5 rushing touchdowns, 9 receptions, 84 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 135 touches, 865 total yards, and 6 total touchdowns in 2022. Deneric Prince did well at the 2023 East West Shrine Bowl.
Deneric Prince followed his performance at the 2023 East West Shrine Bowl up with a strong showing at the 2023 NFL Combine. Prince had a good pro day at Tulsa's 2023 Pro Day. Prince talked about improving his power, patience, and pass blocking at Tulsa's 2023 Pro Day.
Washington gets a right guard to replace Brandon Scherff in the seventh round. I've neglected right guard because there wasn't a value pick on the board for Washington at the position. That changes now with the final guard in my guard rankings being available for Washington in the seventh round.
The 6-1 298 lb Jovaughn Gwyn has the pass blocking, pass blocking strength, pass blocking footwork, run blocking, run blocking strength, run blocking footwork, zone blocking, pancake blocking, and pull blocking you want an NFL guard to have. Jovaughn Gwyn was a four year starter at right guard for South Carolina. You'd like to see him add some muscle to get over 300 lbs, but everything else is there.
Los Angeles got this pick in the Allen Robinson trade. Bryce-Ford Wheaton is my top wide receiver on the board in the seventh round.
The 6-3 223 lb Bryce-Ford Wheaton had 62 receptions, 675 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2022. Bryce-Ford Wheaton had 9 recpetions, 97 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns in West Virginia's season opener against Pittsburgh. He followed that up with 11 receptions, 152 receiving touchdowns, and 2 receiving touchdowns against Kansas. He peaked after his first two games.
Sports Illustrated gave Bryce Ford-Wheaton an undrafted grade because he constantly dropped passes. Bryce Ford-Wheaton ran a 4.38 40 yard dash at the 2023 NFL Combine. He also caught everything in the gauntlet drill. Bryce Ford-Wheaton may be a project wide receiver that a team stashes for depth, but he's too big and too talented to go undrafted. The Rams can have Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson in a contract year, TuTu Atwell as a slot receiver, and Ben Skowronek for depth. Bryce Ford-Wheaton is a guy you can develop for a year before he competes for the number two wide receiver spot next to Cooper Kupp on the Rams in 2024.
The Green Bay Packers moved on from Mason Crosby. Alabama kicker Will Reichard would be a good replacement here, but he went back to school. This means Missouri kicker Harrison Mevis and Alabama kicker Will Reichard are the top kickers in the 2024 NFL Draft. Georgia Bulldogs kicker Jack Podlesny is Green Bay's pick here.
The 6-1 180 lb Jack Podlesny was one of the two kickers in the 2023 Reese's Senior Bowl replacing Alabama kicker Will Reichard after Reichard opted to return to Alabama. Jack Podlesny nicknamed "Hot Pod" was Georgia's starting kicker for each of the past three years.
Jack Podlesny went 13/16 on field goals and 38/38 on extra points with the one called Hot Pod going 3/3 on field goals 50 yards or longer taking over for his Georgia predecessor Rodrigo Blankenship in 2020. Jack Podlesny went 22/27 on field goals nad 71/72 on extra points with a 49 yard field goal being his longest kick in 2021 when Georgia won their first Championship in the Collegee Football Playoff era. Jack Podlesny went 26/31 on field goals, 73/74 on extra points, and made a 50 yard field goal in 2022 before winning SEC Special Teams Player Of The Year in 2022 edging out Will Reichard for that award.
Jack Podlesny won back-to-back championships at Georgia as their kicker. Jack Podlesney was kicking for the American Team in the 2023 Reese's Senior Bowl.
Indianapolis gets a second pass rusher. Viliami Fehoko is my top player on the board this late in the seventh round. Viliami Fehoko has superb twitch and he knows how to use his hands on rip moves, swim moves, and spin moves.
The 6-3 267 lb Viliami Fehoko had 41 solo tackles, 28 assisted tackles, 69 total tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, 9 sacks, 7 quarterback hurries, 2 forced fumbles, 1 deflection from a pass breakup, and 1 fumble recovery next to San Jose State teammate Cade Hall, who entered the season as San Jose State's top pass rusher in 2022. Viliami Fehoko had the last laugh though with an invite to the 2023 East West Shrine Bowl and the 2023 NFL Combine despite Cade Hall's contributions in 2021 leading up to the season as Hall led San Jose State in sacks in 2021 before Fehoko led San Jose State in sacks in 2022. Viliami Fehoko also worked out and did well at San Jose State's 2023 Pro Day.
I posted a Viliami Fehoko Interview from the 2023 East West Shrine Bowl. You can click the link to listen to the Interview.
The Seattle Seahawks draft a replacement to Ryan Neal in the seventh round. Ryan Neal filled in for Jamal Adams at strong safety, but now he's on Tampa Bay.
The 6-0 213 lb DeMarcco Hellams played both strong safety and free safety at Alabama showcasing his versatility. Seattle drafts him as a replacement for Ryan Neal in the seventh round.
Miami has Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Cedrick Wilson, Roby Anderson, Braxton Berrios, Erik Ezukanma, and Freddie Swain, and River Cracraft at wide receiver. I'm giving Miami the best wide receiver on the board in round seven to compete for a roster spot. There's a chance whoever Miami drafts here ends up on the Miami Dolphins practice squad with how deep this wide receiver room is.
The 5-11 192 lb Rakim Jarrett had 40 receeptions, 471 receiving yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns in 2022. Rakim Jarrett ran a 4.42 40 yard dash and did 20 reps on the bench press at the 2023 NFL Combine. Jarrett did well enough at the 2023 NFL Combine to warrant a tryout this late in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Los Angeles Chargers get a backup 3-4 right end to Sebastian Joseph-Day. Sebasitan Joseph-Day transitioned from nose tackle on the Rams during their Super Bowl 56 team to 3-4 right end with the Los Angeles Chargers before a season ending injury down the stretch in 2022.
The 6-6 292 lb Mike Morris lined up at 4-3 right end, 4-3 left end, 3-4 right end, 3-4 left end, 3-4 right outside linebacker, and 3-4 left outside linebacker. Mike Morris had 17 solo tackles, 6 assisted tackles, 23 total tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, 4 quarterback hurries, and 3 deflections from pass breakups in 2022.
Mike Morris has good, but not great speed for a defensive lineman. He can play 4-technique, 5-technique, 6-technique, or 7-technique.
The New York Giants do not have a fullback on their roster. New York surprises everyone and drafts my second best fullback. Southern Illinois fullback Javon Williams was once considered the top fullback in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The 6-2 237 lb Javon Williams had 415 rushing yards, 245 receiving yards, 140 passing yards, 800 total yards, and 9 rushing touchdowns with Southern Illinois in 2022. He lined up as a pass catching running back, wide receiver out of the slot occassionally, and as a second tight end in goal line situations. Javon Williams went 11/17 on completions, and if you're looking for a skill position player with a similar skill set to Taysom Hill, Javon Williams is your man.
Pittsburgh still has Kenny Pickett and Mitchell Trubisky. However, Pittsburgh does not have a replacement to Mason Rudolph and cut their 2022 seventh round pick out of South Dakota State. Getting a third stringer here in the seventh round isn't the worst idea.
The 6-0 206 lb Tommy Devito had 2,650 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, and 4 interceptions in 2022. Tommy Devito only had one game where he exceeded 300 passing yards and played turnover free ball and that was against FCS opponent Chattanooga. He was very inconsistent throughout the week of the 2023 East West Shrine Bowl. He might get picked in the seventh round by a team desperate to bring in a third string quarterback for competition like Pittsburgh.
Green Bay has Jaire Alexander at field cornerback, Eric Stokes at boundary cornerback, and Rasul Douglas at nickel cornerback. Green Bay lacks depth at cornerback and once Eric Stokes went down with a season ending injury, Green Bay's cornerback room got exposed.
The 6-2 205 lb Jaylon Jones is a great value pick in the seventh round. I gave Jaylon Jones an A grade in man coverage, a B grade in zone coverage, and an A grade in press coverage. He's someone who will thrive in cover 0, cover 1, and cover 2 schemes.
Jaylon Jones ran a 4.57 40 yard dash and did 14 reps on the bench press at the 2023 NFL Combine. He did well enough on tape against Miami FL making things difficult for Miami Hurricanes quarterback Tyler Van Dyke in that game to get drafted.
New York drafts a backup left tackle to Andrew Thomas here in the seventh round. Appalachian State left tackle Anderson Hardy is my best player on the board at this point in the seventh round.
The 6-6 290 lb Anderson Hardy showed the pass blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking strength, and run blocking footwork that you want from an NFL left tackle. New York is drafting him as a backup to Andrew Thomas this late in the seventh round.
I posted a film cut of Appalachian State's offensive line VS Troy. Appalachian State has two draftable offensive tackles. Left tackle Anderson Hardy and right tackle Cooper Hodges are both guys who I had fifth to sixth round grades on that fell to round 7 due to most teams being set at offensive tackle. New York addressed most of their needs, so I went for value over need in the seventh round.
Dallas drafts a fullback here. Griffin Hebert out of Louisiana Tech is my top fullback on the board at this point in the seventh round.
The 6-2 229 lb Griffin Hebert is the top fullback on my board. Griffin Hebert had the number one relative athletic score for a fullback from 1987-2023. That's first out of over 500 fullbacks. He was also a tight end on Louisiana Tech's depth chart.
New England drafts a second cornerback in this really deep cornerback class. Minnesota cornerback Terrell Smith really impressed me on tape, so he warranted this selection in the seventh round.
The 6-4 207 lb Terrell Smith had 34 solo tackles, 4 assisted tackles, 38 total tackles, 5 deflections from pass breakups, 4.5 tackles for a loss, 2 innterceptions, 2 sacks, and 1 forced fumble in 2022. I gave Terrell Smith an A grade in man coverage, an A- grade in zone coverage, and a B+ grade in press coverage. He can play in any coverage scheme whether it's a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 scheme. He can line up as a nickel cornerback or play on the outside in a boundary or field cornerback role. I watched Terrell Smith in three games against Purdue, Michigan State, and Illinois before posting my coverage grades for Smith.
His versatility makes him a perfect fit for New England. Terrell Smith ran a 4.42 40 yard dash and did 14 reps on the bench press at the 2023 NFL Combine.
Cincinnati replaced long-time punter Kevin Huber with Drue Chrisman. Chrisman is an ERFA in 2024, but not an established punter. Cincinnati drafts Michigan State punter Bryce Barringer hoping to bring in competition at punter for Drue Chrisman.
The 6-3 215 lb Bryce Barringer averaged 49 yards a punt in 2022. He owns Michigan State's school record for the longest punt at 46 yards per punt. Bryce Barringer had 161 career punts for 7,406 yards. Not only is this an all time best among Michigan State punters it's also a Big 10 All Time best.
I have Rutgers punter Adam Korsak and Oklahoma punter Michael Turk as my top two punters. However, a case can be made for Bryce Barringer as the top punter in the 2023 NFL Draft.
San Francisco gets a kicker here. Zane Gonzalez had a season ending quad injury in week 15 of the 2021 NFL Season. He also re-aggrivated that quad in the final preseason game missing all of 2022 for Carolina. San Francisco needs to draft a kicker for insurance in case Zane Gonzalez cannot stay healthy..
The 6-0 183 lb Chad Ryland transferred from Eastern Michigan to Maryland for his senior season. Chad Ryland went 19/23 on field goals going 9/9 on fields goals under 40 yards and also went 39/40 on extra point attempts. Chad Ryland went 4/5 on field goals in the 2023 Reese's Senior Bowl game when kicking for the American Team which was the winning team.
Chad Ryland also got touchbacks on 70% of his kickoffs. My friend C.J. Cuevas, who picked Chad Ryland in our private group mock on Facebook gave me this stat.
Philadelphia gets a center for depth to groom behind Jason Kelce. LaQuinston Sharp is a bargain here.
The 6-3 310 lb LaQuinston Sharp has the pass blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking, run blocking strength, and run blocking footwork. You want to see LaQuinston Sharp improve his pass blocking strength, but he held Bowling Green defensive tackle Karl Brooks in check during the one-on-ones when Mississippi State clobbered Bowling Green.
Kansas City grabs a fullback to replace starting fullback Michael Burton. Brad Roberts played both running back and fullback for Air Force in the Air Force Falcons option offense which features two running backs with a running back and fullback which is treated as a running back.
The 5-11 215 lb Brad Roberts played fullback at Air Force the last two years despite having the body of a running back. Kansas City will draft him to be the Chiefs new fullback despite his size.
Brad Roberts had 299 carries, 1,356 rushing yards, and 13 rushing touchdowns en route to winning the rushing title for most rushing yards in the NCAA despite being the starting fullback on the Air Force Falcons in 2021. Brad Roberts had 345 carries, 1,728 rushing yards, and 17 rushing touchdowns in 2022 improving what he did in 2021 after losing two of the teams five starters on the offensive line. Air Force listed him as a fullback on their depth chart this past Summer, but everyone on Air Force said he played running back for the team this past season.
Brad Roberts is an excellent pass blocker despite the fact that he was hardly used in the passing game. With his size, pass blocking, and ball carrier vision, he seems like a guy who could be used as a running back or a fullback. Since Kansas City lost fullback Michael Burton, I'm giving them Brad Roberts as a fullback.
Brad Roberts father John Roberts played in the NFL. John Roberts played for the Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins back in the day before Washington renamed their team.
Kansas City is projected to get this compensation pick at 250 for losing 4-3 defensive tackle Jarran Reed, who signed a one year deal with the Green Bay Packers. Kansas City could get a defensive tackle here.
Kansas City signed Blaine Gabbert and has Shane Buechele from their practice squad competing for the right to be the backup to Patrick Mahomes thanks to Chad Henne retiring. Kansas City can go with Taron Vincent or Tanner Morgan here, but I went with Vincent simply because he's younger and provides more longevity despite mocking two defensive tackles to Kansas City earlier.
Kansas City has Chris Jones and Derrick Nnadi as returning starters. I mocked LSU defensive tackle Jacquelin Roy in the third round and Wake Forest defensive tackle Kobie Turner in the fourth round. Kansas City will extend Jones, but probably let Nnadi walk in 2024 after this season. Taron Vincent would be on Kansas City's practice squad for a year before taking over as a reserve defensive tackle on the final three years of his rookie deal.
The 6-3 300 lb Taron Vincent commanded a lot of double teams at Ohio State. Taron Vincent is the son of former New England Patriots defensive back Troy Vincent. Taron Vincent was one of the standouts on Ohio State at the 2023 East West Shrine Bowl.
Los Angeles is projected to get this compensation pick at 251 for losing 4-3 left end Ogbonnia Okoronkwo. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo signed a contract with the Houston Texans during the 2022 NFL Free Agency Period. Los Angeles traded this pick to Pittsburgh when trading Allen Robinson to Pittsburgh, but managed to swap seventh round picks in the trade by moving up to Pittsburgh's pick despite the fact that Pittsburgh now picks at 251.
The Pittsburgh Steelers use this pick on a backup tight end to Pat Freirmuth. Brenton Strange went to Penn State just like Pat Freirmuth, so this would be a decent pick.
The 6-3 247 lb Brenton Strange had 32 receptions, 362 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns in 2022. Brenton Strange ran a 4.70 40 time at the 2023 NFL Combine and rounded out my tight end rankings as the worst tight end in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Tampa Bay is projected to get this compensation pick at 252 for losing tight end O.J. Howard. O.J. Howard signed a one year contract with the Buffalo Bills during the 2022 NFL Free Agency period. After Buffalo, cut Howard in training camp, he signed a contract with the Houston Texans.
The 6-3 257 lb Habakkuk Baldonado would become the first player from Italy to be drafted since Mykkele Thompson the New York Giants 2015 draft pick. Habakkuk Baldonado would also be the first player from Rome, Italy to get drafted and the twenty fourth player from Italy to play in the NFL.
Habakkuk Baldonado had 25 solo tackles, 16 assisted tackles, 41 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, 9 sacks, and 9 quarterback hurries in 2021. Habakkuk Baldonado had 9 solo tackles, 16 assisted tackles, 25 total tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 5 quarterback hurries, 2 sacks, and 2 deflections from pass breakups in 2022. Habakkuk Baldonado impressed me much more on film than defensive lineman Calijah Kancey in 2021, but regressed in 2022 while Kancey improved his level of play.
Tampa Bay has Shaquille Barrett at 3-4 right outside linebacker and Joe Tryon at 3-4 left outside linebacker. Tampa Bay can draft Haakkuk Baldonado for depth here at 3-4 outside linebacker in the seventh round.
San Francisco is projected to get this compensation pick at 253 for losing running back Raheem Mostert. Raheem Mostert signed with the Miami Dolphins during the 2022 NFL Free Agency Period.
San Francisco currently has Brock Purdy who was Mr. Irrelvant in the 2022 NFL Draft before going 7-1 as a rookie starter, Trey Lance the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft who lost his starting job, and Sam Darnold the third pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, whose now on his third NFL team since being drafted as their three quarterbacks for the 2023 NFL Season.
San Francisco scouted Brock Purdy at the 2022 East West Shrine Bowl. San Francisco was scouting quarterbacks at the 2023 East West Shrine Bowl, and the 49ers select another quarterback from the 2023 East West Shrine Bowl in the seventh round here.
The 6-0 208 lb Jake Haener had 4,096 passing yards, 33 passing touchdowns, a 67.1% completion percentage, and 9 interceptions in 2021. Jake Haener went 2-1 against ranked opponents playing well in a loss to Oregon, leading Fresno State to an upset win over UCLA and their quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and defeated eventual Mountain West Champion San Diego State in 2021. Jake Haener had 2,836 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, a 72% completion percentage which is the best completion percentage of any quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft, and 3 interceptions in 2022. Jake Haener could have done more if he didn't miss some time with injuries in 2022.
The 6-0 205 lb Tanner Morgan is the best quarterback on the board in the seventh round. I put twenty quarterbacks in my quarterback rankings for the 2023 NFL Draft and Tanner Morgan is the nineteenth quarterback and final quarterback to come off the board in this mock draft.
Worst case scenario, San Francisco stashes Tanner Morgan on their practice squad for a year. Best case scenario, he plays well enough in the preseason to earn a roster spot as a third string quarterback forcing San Francisco to either trade Trey Lance or cut Sam Darnold.
New York is projected to get this compensation pick at 254 for losing cornerback Keion Crossen. Keion Crossen signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins during the 2022 NFL Free Agency period.
The 6-4 305 lb Cooper Hodges was a bookend right tackle to Anderson Hardy at Appalachain State. Cooper Hodges is just as lethal as his counterpart Anderson Hardy.
Cooper Hodges showed the pass blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking strength, and run blocking footwork that you want from an NFL rightt tackle. New York is drafting him to compete with 2020 third round pick Matt Peart for the backup right tackle role behind Evan Neal.
San Francisco is projected to get this compensation pick at 255 for losing cornerback K'Wuan Williams to the Denver Broncos during the 2022 NFL Free Agency Period. Denver kept Williams on their roster for the 2023 NFL Season after cutting Ronald Darby to save cap space meaning Williams will most likely be Denver's nickel cornerback unless the Broncos bring in a rookie cornerback to compete with him for that job.
The 6-2 236 lb Nick Hampton is versatile enough to play 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, 3-4 right outside linebacker, and 3-4 left outside linebacker. Nick Hampton was utilized as an edge rusher in Appalchain State's 3-4 defense, but he's so good in zone coverage that he was my only outside linebacker to get an A+ grade in zone coverage for the entire 2023 NFL Draft.
Nick Hampton had 36 solo tackles, 32 assisted tackles, 68 total tackles, 17.5 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks, 5 quarterback hurries, and 2 deflections from pass breakups while leading Appalachian State in sacks in 2021. Nick Hampton had 19 solo tackles, 20 assisted tackles, 39 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for a loss, 8 sacks, 5 quarterback hurries, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 deflection from pass breakups.
Nick Hampton did enough to earn an invite to the 2023 Reese's Senior Bowl. He did not get an invite to the 2023 NFL Combine as Hampton was the final player to crack my outside linebacker rankings.
Green Bay is projected to get this compensation pick at 256 for losing cornerback Chandon Sullivan. Chandon Sullivan signed with Green Bay's NFC North division rival, the Minnesota Vikings during the 2022 NFL Free Agency Period.
The 6-4 305 lb Spencer Anderson was the starting right tackle on Maryland as a bookend to Jaelyn Duncan. Both offensive tackles protected Taulia Tagovailoa. Spencer Anderson has the pass blocking and pass blocking footwork you want from a bookend right tackle. Green Bay can have Spencer Anderson compete with Rashaan Walker and Sean Rhyan for a roster spot after both of those two 2022 draft picks failed to secure a top 4 spot at offensive tackle on Green Bay's depth chart.
I posted a Spencer Anderson Interview from the 2023 East West Shrine Bowl. You can click the link to listen to the Interview.
New Orleans is projected to get this compensation pick at 257. New Orleans got this compensation pick due to net value and honestly, I have no freaking clue what that means.
New Orleans has Cameron Jordan, Payton Turner, and a defensive end replacing Marcus Davenport with their first round pick. New Orleans can draft a number four defensive end as a backup for insurance late in the seventh round.
The 6-2 269 lb M.J. Anderson played defensive end at Iowa State complimenting Will McDonald IV off the edge. New Orleans adds him for depth late in the seventh round.
Chicago is projected to get this compensation pick at 258. Chicago is getting awarded a supplemental pick along with the other team that has the Mr. Irrelevant pick. I don't know why Chicago got this pick.
The 6-5 284 lb Colby Wooden lined up at both 4-3 left end next to Derick Hall at defensive end. Colby Wooden also lined up inside as a 4-3 defensive tackle.
Colby Wooden was Auburn's fourth best defensive player. Derick Hall, Owen Pappoe, and Nehemiah Pritchett, a cornerback who returned to Auburn for his senior season are all better draft prospects than Colby Wooden. This isn't up for debate, this is the bottom line as well as the reality of the situation with Auburn's defense. However, Colby Wooden is a bargain this late in the seventh round at pick 258 one selection before Mr. Irrelevant.
Houston is projected to get this compensation pick at 259. Houston got awarded a supplementala pick like Chicago and this pick in the 2023 NFL Draft is the Mr. Irrelevant pick. Last year there were 262 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft with San Francisco selecting Brock Purdy as Mr Irrelevant. The year before that, Tony Mario correctly guessed that Grant Stuard would be Mr. Irrelevant when Tampa Bay drafted him with their final pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
The 6-4 271 lb Isaiah McGuire is my Mr. Irrelevant for the 2023 NFL Draft giving Houston a fifth pass rusher to compete for a roster spot even if McGuire ends up starting out on Houston's practice squad. Isaiah McGuire had 14 tackles for a loss and 6 sacks leading Missouri in both categories in 2021. Isaiah McGuire had 24 solo tackles, 15 assisted tackles, 39 total tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, 4 quarterback hurries, and 1 forced fumble in 2022. Isaiah McGuire looked good against Georgia's offensive tackle tandem of Broderick Jones and Warren McClendon as Missouri led Georgia for the majority of that contest before the Georgia Bulldogs rallied back to defeat Missouri on the road in Columbia, Missouri.
