Welcome to the Albany Devils team page. Here you will find out about everything going on about the Albany Devils.
Albany Devils Likely To Keep Goalie Keith Kinkaid For One More Year

One player who was instrumental to the playoff run by the Albany Devils last season was goaltender Keith Kinkaid. Kinkaid was one of the AHLs better goaltenders considering what he did with the Devils.
There is a chance that Kinkaid could be a backup to Cory Schneider this season. New Jersey signed 37-year-old Scott Clemmensen as a backup goalie for one year. Clemmensen played 40 games for the Devils going 25-13-1 for New Jersey back in 2008-2009.
The following season, Florida added him as an insurance policy behind Tomas Vokoun aware of the fact that he was an effective backup. Clemmensen struggled in Florida despite being a member of the Panthers for five seasons. In each of his last two seasons he has posted a save percentage below .900
If you ask me, Clemmensen should be starting in Albany. Keith Kinkaid has been that good. Kinkaid posted a 2.94 GAA in his first season with the Albany Devils. Two years ago he posted a 2.58 GAA continuing to make improvements. Year three in Albany was a breakout season for the Devils posting a 2.29 GAA while leading Albany to the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Kinkaid said he was ready to be Schneiders backup in July. It is hard to make an argument as to why he should not be the backup to Schneider. Maybe Kinkaid should work on winning a playoff series with this weak Albany supporting cast to show the Devils he can play in the NHL. Signing Clemmensen is pointless if you have a goalie in the AHL as talented as Kinkaid.
What happens to Kinkaid will remain a mystery. One thing for sure is that the Albany Devils will fail to duplicate last seasons success without Keith Kinkaid.
