Kerby Rychel Needs One More Year In AHL Before Going To Columbus

The Columbus Blue Jackets drafted Kerby Rychel nineteenth overall in the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Rychel posted 87 points in 2012-2013 and then posted 89 points after being named team captain of the Windsor Spitfires before being traded to the Guelph Storm where he helped the Storm win the OHL Title in 2013-2014.
Rychel got a reality check once he arrived in the AHL where he posted 12 goals, 21 assists, and 33 points in 51 AHL games with the Springfield Falcons. Now Rychel will play for the Lake Erie Monsters who are the Blue Jackets new AHL affiliate.
Kerby Rychel will be playing more games this upcoming season. It's not just that, Rychel is 6-1 203 lbs and he has the versatility to play left wing, center, or right wing in the NHL.
Rychel's play in 2015 will determine whether or not he plays for the Blue Jackets in 2016. Even if Rychel does not arrive in Columbus by 2016, he will be on the Blue Jackets' roster in two years from now in 2017 because his rookie contract is up in 2016-2017, and by then Rychel will want a one-way contract in the NHL after being a top 20 pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
