Los Angeles gets the one nose tackle in this draft that's an upgade over Sebastian Joseph-Day. Los Angeles had a bottom four run defense last year. Drafting Jordan Davis to be the starting nose tackle with Sebastian Joseph-Day complimenting him will fix the run defense for the Los Angeles Chargers.
Philadelphia is gonna get an immediate starter at 18. Trent McDuffie compliments Darius Slay on the outside quite well with Avonte Maddox as the nickel cornerback.
One player the Saints reportedly love is Tulsa left tackle Tyler Smith. He comes in as a replacement for Terron Armstead. With Treylon Burks, a healthy Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara assuming he's not suspended, it wouldn't shock me to see Jameis Winston or Andy Dalton get this Saints team to the playoffs as the 7 seed since Winston is under contract until 2024 while Dalton is on a one year deal. New Orleans doesn't have to draft a quarterback in 2022 if they have confidence in Winston, which I believe is the case.
Malik Willis is raw. He goes to a Pittsburgh Steelers team that reportedly loves Willis. Here, he can learn under former number two overall pick and Free Agent signing Mitchell Trubisky for a year or two and then take over at quarterback once Trubisky slips up.
New England upgrades their offensive line. With the addition of Zion Johnson the Patriots get another high work ethic guy who dominated the Senior Bowl which is what they got with Mac Jones a year ago.
New England fixes their offensive line here after trading Shaq Mason to Tom Brady's current team. New England now has Isaiah Wynn at left tackle, Zion Johnson at left guard, David Andrews at center, Michael Onwenu at right guard, and Trent Brown at right tackle.
The Green Bay Packers got the Raiders first and second round picks after trading Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. Chris Olave becomes the new number one flanker receiver for Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.
Arizona gets a bookend right tackle to left tackle D.J. Humprhies. Charles Cross lined up at left tackle and right tackle at Mississippi State's Pro Day and is an absolute steal at 23. Kyler Murray will have much better pass protection with Humphries and Cross as his bookend offensive tackles. Maybe Murray will be able to play from the pocket once he gets re-signed with D.J. Humphries at left tackle, Justin Pugh at left guard, Rodney Hudson at center, Kelvin Beachum moving from right tackle to right guard in this scenario, and Charles Cross at right tackle.
Dallas has Neville Gallimore their 2020 third round pick from Oklahoma, Trysten Hill their 2019 second round pick, and Osa Odighizuwa their 2021 third round pick giving them solid ability at 4-3 defensive tackle. However, there are rumors that Dallas is targeting a defensive tackle at 24. DeMarvin Leal is my top ranked defensive tackle on the board, plus he's versatile enough to play 4-3 defensive end as well as an edge rusher giving Dallas a day 1 starter on their defensive line.
Buffalo gets a 4-3 defensive tackle to pair with Ed Oliver. Devonte Wyatt would make a good addition for Buffalo at 4-3 defensive tackle now that Harrison Phillips, Star Lotulelei, and Vernon Butler are gone. DaQuan Jones, Jordan Phillips, and Tim Settle are all backups and downgrades over the guys Buffalo had at defensive tackle on their 2021 roster. That's why Devonte Wyatt goes to Buffalo here.
Tennessee now has Kristian Fulton, Caleb Farley, Andrew Booth Jr. in the nickel, and Elijah Molden ready to step into a nickel role if either Farley or Booth Jr. this years version of Farley gets injured.
Tampa Bay gets a 3-4 right end to replace Ndamukong Suh. Travis Jones is versatile enough to play 4-3 defensive tackle, 3-4 right end, 3-4 nose tackle, and 3-4 left end with his versatility. Travis Jones is a fast elite run stuffer with above average pass rushing moves. He commands double teams and triple teams on film which takes pressure off of nose tackle Vita Vea as well as our edge rushers at 3-4 outside linebacker.
Green Bay uses this pick on a replacement for Billy Turner at right tackle. Green Bay's offensive line now has David Bahktiari at left tackle, Elgton Jenkins at left guard, Josh Myers at center, Royce Newman at right guard, an Trevor Penning at right tackle. Trevor Penning has experience at both left tackle and right tackle.
Chris Ransom posted a film cut of Northern Iowa left tackle Trevor Penning VS Southern Illinois. Last year Trey Lance was the top FCS prospect, this year that honor belongs to Trevor Penning.
Kansas City gets a weapon to replace Tyreek Hill. Jameson Williams runs like Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill in terms of speed. He's the one player in this draft class to actually run through a tornado in Kansas with supersonic speed and live to tell the tale. Patrick Mahomes would love to have a weapon that fast down the stretch once he recovers from his injury. The downside is he went 2/32 against cornerbacks in man coverage, and he only knows 16/30 routes.
With Jameson Williams as your number one target and MeCole Hardman as your number two target, you'd have Marquez Valdes-Scantling and JuJu Smith-Schuster replacing Byron Pringle and Demarcus Robinson. With Josh Gordon back in a depth role.
Kansas City currently has Willie Gay Jr. at 4-3 right outside linebacker and Nick Bolton at 4-3 middle linebacker for their nickel defense. However, the Chiefs also run a 4-3 base defense when they don't play nickel.
Since Nakobe Dean is versatile enough to play 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 middle linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, and 3-4 middle linebacker, he can take over for Willie Gay Jr. with Willie Gay Jr.'s role being reduced to a situational outside linebacker in 4-3 packages.
Cincinnati drafts a new left tackle. This gives Joe Burrow an offensive line with Bernard Raimann at left tackle, Jonah Williams at left guard, J.C. Tretter at center, Alex Cappa at right guard, and La'El Collins at right tackle. Cincinnati also has D'Ante Smith as their backup left tackle, Jackson Carman as their backup left guard, Trey Hill last years center as their backup center, Hakeem Adeniji last years right guard as the backup right guard, and Isaiah Prince last years right tackle as the backup right tackle. With these starters and depth players on the offensive line, Joe Burrow has a chance to make sure the Cincinnati Bengals remain the defending AFC Champions in 2022.
Jared Goff is not the quarterback of the future in Detroit. If one of the top 3 quarterbacks Willis, Pickett, or Corral falls to this pick, then Detroit has to seriously consider a quarterback at 32. Detroit cannot allow Tim Boyle to remain the backup under any circumstances. Matt Corral could be the right quarterback for Detroit if Jared Goff doesn't step up in 2022. I don't think Detroit will be picking high enough to get a quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft since getting the number two pick right takes Detroit one step closer to contention.
Cristian F posted three games of Matt Corral's film against Texas A&M, Alabama, and Auburn on his Youtube Channel. I've posted a link to his channel in the previous sentence as well as embedded the Matt Corral game versus Texas A&M that Cristian posted. Please subscribe to Cristian's channel he works hard on these film cuts just like every other content creator that posts content for the 2022 NFL Draft.
