Philadelphia 76ers 2017 Season Preview

Joel Embiid finally stayed healthy for some of 2016. Can he stay healthy in 2017?

I said this about the 76ers in 2014-2015. Ironically it became a reality.

Let's say the 76ers win the lottery. They can take Jahlil Okafor with the top pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. If the 76ers took the Duke center they could trade Noel or Embiid for more draft picks or additional players. The 76ers will have a lot of flexibility next season, but will be a doormat for one more season.

Philadelphia finally drafted a quality player in Jahlil Okafor. The top prospect fell to third overall even though the 76ers did not win the Lottery. Sure they drafted Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid as centers in the past. Unlike those two Okafor is a sure thing and I thought he was without a doubt the top prospect in the entire 2015 NBA Draft. Nerlens Noel has no excuses if he struggles at power forward since last year was technically his rookie year with Noel missing his rookie season on injured reserve. Emiid is now on injured reserve for the second season in a row.

Tony Wroten averaged 16.9 points per game at point guard for the 76ers after beginning his career with the Memphis Grizzlies as a backup to Mike Conley Jr. Shooting guard Robert Covington also averaged 13.5 points per game.

I'm sold on Okafor and Wroten as blue chip prospects. Still I feel like the rest of this team is expendable. The 76ers will have 4 first round picks in the 2016 NBA Draft.
