2024 NFL Mock Draft: Final Mock 7 Rounds

Round 4

Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: April 25, 2024.

  1. Carolina Panthers: McKinley Jackson, NT, Texas A&M

There were four third round defensive tackles that fell to the fourth round. Texas A&M defensive tackle McKinley Jackson is the best of those four defensive tackles in terms of talent and is probably the best fit for the Carolina Panthers 3-4 defense.

Shy Tuttle isn't bad. The thing is McKinley Jackson isn't just a big upgrade over Shy Tuttle at nose tackle, he's a massive upgrade in that sense. Carolina can now use Derrick Brown at 3-4 right end, McKinley Jackson at nose tackle, and A'Shawn Robinson at 3-4 left end with Shy Tuttle in a depth role at 3-4 right end, 3-4 nose tackle, and 3-4 left end which just improves the overall quality of the Carolina Panthers defensive line.

The 6-2 331 lb McKinley Jackson had 10 solo tackles, 17 assisted tackles, 27 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks, 3 quarterback hurries, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. McKinley Jackson has the pass rushing and run stuffing that you want in a 3-4 nose tackle.

  2. Seattle Seahawks: DeWayne Carter, 3-4 RE, Duke

Seattle has Dre'Mont Jones at 3-4 right end, Jarran Reed at 3-4 nose tackle, and Leonard Williams at 3-4 left end. Seattle has Jonathan Hankins as a backup at 3-4 nose tackle and Mike Morris out of Michigan as their backup 3-4 left end entering year two. A backup 3-4 right end is needed in Seattle and with three third round defensive tackles on the board, one gets taken here. Duke defensive tackle DeWayne Carter, is the best of those three defensive tackles.

The 6-2 308 lb DeWayne Carter had 10 solo tackles, 31 assisted tackles, 41 total tackles, 4 deflections from pass breakups, 4 quarterback hurries, 3.5 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, and 1 defensive touchdown in 2023. DeWayne Carter can play 4-3 right end, 3-4 right end, 4-3 defensive tackle, 3-4 nose tackle, 4-3 left end, and 3-4 left end.

DeWayne Carter has the pass rushing, run stuffing, and ability to swat down passes in coverage that you want. He also needs to get stronger and improve his block shedding.

DeWayne Carter will be a backup to Dre'Mont Jones. He won't have the pressure or responsibility of starting right out of the gate which is why he could end up working out in Seattle.

I posted a film cut of Duke DL DeWayne Carter VS Notre Dame. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  3. New England Patriots: Mekhi Wingo, 3-4 RE, LSU

New England adds depth to their 3-4 defensive line here. New England has Christian Barmore at 3-4 right end, Davon Godchaux at 3-4 nose tackle, and Keion White at 3-4 left end. New England also has Deatrich Wise Jr. as the backup 3-4 left end.

Both of the top two players on my board with third round grades are LSU defensive tackles. Those two players are Mekhi Wingo and Maason Smith. Maason Smith entered the Fall as a preseason first round prospect, but Mekhi Wingo is younger than Smith, took a captain spot from Smith on LSU, and Wingo is one of the youngest defensive tackles in the 2024 NFL Draft as he's only 20.

The 6-0 284 lb Mekhi Wingo had 25 solo tackles, 21 assisted tackles, 46 total tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, 5 quarterback hurries, 4 deflections from pass breakups, 3 sacks, and 1 forced fumble in 2022. Mekhi Wingo had 11 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, 25 total tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks, and 1 quarterback hurry in 2023.

Mekhi Wingo can play 4-3 defensive tackle, 3-4 right end, 3-4 nose tackle, and 3-4 left end with his versatility. Mekhi Wingo had a 4.85 40-yard dash and did 26 reps on the bench press at the 2024 NFL Combine.

His versatility to play multiple spots on the defensive line along with his pass rushing making him a great 3-4 defensive end to bring off the bench because his run stuffing and ability to swat passes by anticpating coverage needs to improve. Mekhi Wingo does have potential to develop into a starter, but is also very raw. He goes to a situation where he can learn under Christian Barmore for a year which should help.

  4. Arizona Cardinals: Maason Smith, NT, LSU

Arizona has Justin Jones at 3-4 right end, Khyiris Tonga at 3-4 nose tackle, Bilal Nichols at 3-4 left end, Dante Stills as the backup 3-4 right end, and L.J. Collier as the backup 3-4 left end. Arizona drafts a backup 3-4 nose tackle to Khyiris Tonga here in the fourth round with one third round defensive tackle left on the board.

The 6-5 306 lb Maason Smith had 9 solo tackles, 19 assisted tackles, 28 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss, 4 quarterback hurries, 2.5 sacks, and 2 deflectiosn from pass breakups in 2023. Maason Smith is a better pass rusher than Khyiris Tonga. I'm wondering if Dante Stills, Maason Smith, and L.J. Collier would be used as third down pass rushers when Arizona is leading due to how much depth Arizona has on their defensive line. Stills and Smith would certainly get more reps than Collier.

  5. Los Angeles Chargers: Walter Rouse, LT, Oklahoma

The Los Angeles Chargers don't have a backup left tackle to Rashawn Slater on the depth chart if an injury occurs to Slater like the biceps injury he sufferred in 2022. Rashawn Slater stayed fully healthy in both 2021 and 2023. Oklahoma left tackle Walter Rouse would be a great addition here and I know I got him ranked much higher than the consensus.

The 6-6 313 lb Walter Rouse has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, and run blocking strength. He doesn't have the zone blocking his teammate Tyler Guyton has at right tackle and is not as complete as Guyton despite starting at left tackle for Oklahoma in 2023. I do believe Walter Rouse has starter potential, but he lands on a team that needs a backup left tackle, meaning Rouse will begin his NFL career as a backup left tackle.

I posted a film cut of Oklahoma's offensive line VS Texas. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  6. Tennessee Titans: Charles Turner III, C, LSU

Tennessee doesn't have a backup center on the depth chart behind Lloyd Cushenberry. Charles Turner III succeeded Lloyd Cushenberry III at LSU and now gets to backup his predecessor in the NFL.

The 6-3 300 lb Charles Turner III has the pass blocking, pass blocking footwork, and pass blocking strength. He's still got to develop some as a run blocker and zone blocker, but he's going to a situation where he can be a backup and develop those areas of his game rather than being a day 1 starter in Tennessee.

  7. New York Giants: Omar Speights, 3-4 MLB, LSU

New York drafts a 3-4 middle linebacker to push Micah McFadden for playing time. Omar Speights is my top 3-4 middle linebacker on the board.

The 6-1 235 lb Omar Speights had 21 solo tackles, 48 assisted tackles, and 69 total tackles in 2023. Omar Speights showed the ability to pass rush, stop the run, and drop back into coverage on film despite limited production at LSU after transferring to LSU from Oregon State.

  8. Minnesota Vikings: Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama

Minnesota has Justin Jefferson as their flanker wide receiver and Jordan Addison as their secondary wide receiver. Minnesota replaced K.J. Osborn with Trent Sherfield. Minneosota has stability at tight end with T.J. Hockenson as the starting tight end, Josh Oliver as the number two tight end, and Johnny Mundt as the third string tight end complimenting those wide receivers.

The wide receiver depth in Minnesota is a different story with N'Keal Harry, Jalen Nailor, and Brandon Powell are upgradable. Drafting a wide receiver to compete with Trent Sherfield for the slot receiver job seems like a good idea since I feel like Sherfield is more of a number four than a number three wide receiver.

The 6-0 196 lb Jermaine Burton was part of Georgia's first Championship team in 2021-2022 where Jermaine Burton had 26 receptions, 497 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns as a sophomore in 2021. Jermaine Burton transferred to Alabama the next season and had 40 receptions, 677 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns as a junior in 2022. Jermaine Burton had 39 receptions, 798 receiving yards, and 8 receiving touchdowns in 2023.

Jermaine Burton ran a 4.45 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. Dane Brugler reported that both Georgia and Alabama's coaches had him on the shit list for players with maturity and attitude issues, but Jermaine Burton is the youngest receiver left on the board that can run 18/30 routes on the route tree. Jermaine Burton should straighten out in Minnesota with wide receivers like Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison that can be role models for Jermaine Burton.

Jermaine Burton has the talent to beat out Trent Sherfield for the slot receiver job despite the maturity and character concerns. When Tennessee beat Alabama, Jermaine Burton punched a female student at Tennessee, but the charges were dropped and he was never punished for his behavior at Alabama.

I believe Jermaine Burton would be a day 2 pick if it wasn't for the fact that he went to 6 different schools in 8 years dating back to High School and College. The most interesting thing about Jermaine Burton is he has the talent to be a day 1 starter in the NFL, but he's also a player who could end up falling to the late rounds just because of reports about his character and attitude. Either way, I'm mocking Jermaine Burton to Minnesota here because if Jermaine Burton can grow up in the NFL, he's got a real shot to beat out Jermaine Burton for the slot receiver job.

I posted a film cut of Alabama wide receiver Jermaine Burton VS Texas. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  9. Atlanta Falcons: Javion Cohen, LG, Miami FL

Atlanta can draft either a backup quarterback to groom behind Kirk Cousins or a backup left guard. Atlanta kept backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke on the active roster while trading starting quarterback Desmond Ridder to Arizona for Rondale Moore. Even though I believe Sam Hartman, Michael Pratt, and Jordan Travis have upside to develop into starters down the road, I cannot see Atlanta taking one here when backup left guard is a bigger need.

The 6-4 319 lb Javion Cohen has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength is there. Atlanta has a good starting left guard with 2023 second round pick Matthew Bergeron, a former left tackle at Syracuse. Cohen isn't as proficient in zone blocking as Bergeron and unlike Bergeron, sometimes Cohen doesn't always get his hands on the defender. Javion Cohen does provide depth though for the Atlanta Falcons at left guard on the offensive line.

  10. Los Angeles Chargers: Drake Nugent, C, Michigan

The Los Angeles Chargers will have Rashawn Slater at left tackle, Zion Johnson at left guard, Cory Linsley at center depending on what happens with his heart condition, Jamaree Salyer at right guard, and Trey Pipkins III at right tackle. Los Angeles signed Bradley Bozeman in Free Agency just in case Cory Linsley ends up retiring before the start of the NFL season. Los Angeles may draft another center for depth just in case Linsley does retire by stashing him on the roster and having that center learn the Los Angeles Chargers team playbook.

I mocked Michigan center Drake Nugent to the Los Angeles Chargers here as insurance in case Cory Linsley retires. There's a chance Linsley is healthy enough to play if he clears more tests that doctors give him, but its more likely that he retires following the heart condition that he first suffered in week 3.

The 6-2 298 lb Drake Nugent is a three year starter at center that transferred from Stanford to Michigan for his senior season. Drake Nugent has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength. The Chargers can draft another guy Jim Harbaugh is familiar with here in the fourth round as Drake Nugent has just as much upside as Bradley Bozeman had coming out of Alabama meaning that Nugent will start out as a high end backup, but potential to develop and become the Los Angeles Chargers starting center is there.

  11. New York Jets: Sam Hartman, QB, Notre Dame

The New York Jets get a successor to Aaron Rodgers. Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman is my best quarterback on the board, so Sam Hartman gets picked here.

The 6-1 209 lb Sam Hartman had 4,228 passing yards, 39 passing touchdowns, 363 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, 4,591 total yards, 50 total touchdowns, 14 interceptions, and a 58.9% completion percentage when taking Wake Forest to the 2021 ACC Championship in 2021. Sam Hartman had 3,701 passing yards, 38 passing touchdowns, 129 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown, 3,830 total yards, 39 total touchdowns 12 interceptions, and a 63.1% completion percentage in 2022. Sam Hartman left Wake Forest and transferred to Notre Dame through the transfer portal.

Sam Hartman had 2,689 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns, 123 rushing yards, 3 rushing touchdowns, 2,812 total yards, 27 total touchdowns, 8 interceptions, an a 63.5% completion percentage in his lone season at Notre Dame. Sam Hartman has enough of a ceiling to develop into potentially a high end starter, but not someone with the ceiling of a Pro Bowl quarterback.

Sam Hartman showed he could make 5/6 progressions in Notre Dame's season opener after only making 2/6 progressions at Wake Forest when taking Wake Forest to the ACC Championship against Pittsburgh. Sam Hartman seems like an adequate successor to Aaron Rodgers and is the undisputed backup with Zach Wilson no longer on the roster.

I posted a film cut of Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman VS Ohio State. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  12. Las Vegas Raiders: Brandon Coleman, RG, TCU

Cody Whitehair, who lost a starting left guard spot on the Chicago Bears is taking over for Alek Bars at right guard. Bars was horrible last year, but Whitehair might be worse. The reality is if the Las Vegas Raiders draft a right guard in the fourth round after drafting a right tackle, quarterback, and cornerback in the first three rounds, that fourth round draft pick at right guard might end up winning a starting job right out of the gate if that rookie can beat out both Cody Whitehair and Jamon Mereidth in training camp even though a more realistic expectation is that the rookie guard the Raiders draft in the fourth round, will be a swing guard to Dylan Parham at left guard and Cody Whitehair at right guard.

The 6-4 316 lb Brandon Coleman has experience at left tackle, left guard, right guard, and right tackle. Brandon Coleman also participated in the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl with 34 1/4 inch arms and 10 inch hands. Brandon Coleman also ran a 4.99 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine.

Brandon Coleman has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork, and run blocking footowrk you want. Most of Brandon Coleman's weaknesses on film in college are against edge rushers, but with Coleman kicking inside to right guard, there won't be much of a transition for Brandon Coleman.

Las Vegas now has Kolton Miller at left tackle, Dylan Parham at left guard, Andre James at center, Cody Whitehair or Brandon Coleman at right guard, and Taliese Fuaga at right tackle. Whether Brandon Coleman starts day 1 comes down to whether he can beat out Cody Whitehair for that right guard job in training camp.

  13. Baltimore Ravens: Javon Solomon, 3-4 ROLB, Troy

Baltimore has Odafe Oweh their 2021 first round pick at 3-4 right outside linebacker and Kyle Van Noy at 3-4 left outside linebacker. David Ojabo, Baltimore's 2022 second round pick out of Michigan is the only backup pass rusher that Baltimore has after releasing Tyus Bowser, who got injured. Baltimore drafts another pass rusher here in the fourth round. Javon Solomon led the Troy Trojans to two consecutive Sun Belt Titles each of the last two seasons.

The 6-1 247 lb Javon Solomon had 20 solo tackles, 24 assisted tackles, 44 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss, 6 quarterback hurries, and 4.5 sacks when leading Troy to the 2022 Sun Belt Championship in 2022. Javon Solomon had 26 solo tackles, 30 assisted tackles, 56 total tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, 16 sacks, 5 quarterback hurries, and 3 forced fumbles when leading Troy to the 2023 Sun Belt Championship in 2023.

Javon Solomon did well to earn an invite to the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl. He also ran a 4.71 at the 2024 NFL Combine. Javon Solomon can play 4-3 right end or 3-4 right outside linebacker. Baltimore doesn't have a sack artist on the edge that gets double digit sacks and until they get one, I'm gonna keep mocking edge rushers to Baltimore when there aren't four pass rushers on the active roster. Maybe Javon Solomon becomes that guy in the NFL. If Solomon ends up in Baltimore, I could see him being a really good value pick like Matthew Judon coming out of Grand Valley State.

  14. Jacksonville Jaguars: Austin Booker, 3-4 LOLB, Kansas

Jacksonville has Josh Allen at 3-4 right outside linebacker with Allen extended and Travon Walker, the first pick in the 2022 NFL Draft at 3-4 left outside linebacker. Jacksonville has Yasir Abdullah, a 2023 fifth round pick out of Louisville as the backup to Josh Allen and Trevis Gipson, who got cut by the Bears before the end of his rookie deal before playing with Tennessee as the backup to Travon Walker. I think Jacksonville drafts another pass rusher on day 3 to compete with Yasir Abdullah and Trevis Gipson to be the situational pass rusher on Jacksonville.

The 6-4 240 lb Austin Booker had 40 solo tackles, 16 assisted tackles, 56 total tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, 8 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 deflection from a pass breakup when lining up at 4-3 left end and 3-4 left outside linebacker off the edge in the Kansas Jayhawks hybrid defense in 2023. Austin Booker entered the 2024 NFL Combine with a third round grade before running a 4.80 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. I think Austin Booker slips to the fourth round and Jacksonville takes him so that the Jaguars have more depth on the edge.

  15. Cincinnati Bengals: Garrett Greenfield, RT, South Dakota State

Cincinnati signed Trent Brown to play right tackle next to Orlando Brown Jr. at left tackle. Both backup left tackle Jackson Carman and backup right tackle D'Ante Smith from the 2021 NFL Draft haven't proven anything since being picked with both guys entering contract years. I'm not exactly sold on Trent Brown starting after doing poorly with New England, but there's not a offensive tackle left at this point in ths draft that can supplant Trent Brown.

One guy who could be a good swing tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals that may develop into a starter is South Dakota State left tackle Garrett Greenfield a four year starter at South Dakota State who spent his first two seasons at right tackle before moving him over to left tackle where he was named a captain on South Dakota State in 2022.

The 6-6 311 lb Garrett Greenfield led South Dakota State to back-to-back FCS Championships in 2022 and 2023. Garrett Greenfield has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork, and run blocking footwork you want.

Garrett Greenfield needs to get stronger by improving his pass blocking strength and run blocking strength. NFL.com called him an average backup/special teamer. I see more of an OT3 at swing tackle that could potentially supplant Trent Brown at right tackle if Brown gets injured. Greenfield would have to beat out Jackson Carman and D'Ante Smith in Training Camp for the swing tackle job with those two being listed as the second team left tackle and second team right tackle on the Cincinnati Bengals current depth chart.

  16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Javon Foster, LT, Missouri

Jacksonville drafts a backup left tackle to stash for the future. The reality is Jacksonville will move on from either Cam Robinson or Walker Little after this season. Both Robinson and Little enter contract years with Robinson in the final year of his extension following his rookie deal and Little in the final year of his rookie deal.

The 6-5 309 lb Javon Foster has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking footwork, and pass blocking strength you want in a left tackle. Javon Foster started two games at right tackle as a bookend to Larry Borom prior to the 2021 NFL Draft when the Bears drafted Borom in the fifth round. Javon Foster took over at left tackle in the Fall of 2021. There were at least 4 plays against Tennessee where Javon Foster kept a Tennessee edge rusher in check for 6 seconds when pass blocking for Brady Cook with Foster giving Cook 8 full seconds to throw a deep pass to Cody Schrader. Javon Foster is a much better prospect than Larry Borom to the point where he's got enough potential to develop into an NFL starter.

Javon Foster would be a backup left tackle in Jacksonville. If he does well as a starter in Jacksonville, he may get an opportunity to start somewhere else down the road following his rookie deal.

  17. Indianapolis Colts: Luke McCaffrey, WR, Rice

Indianapolis has Michael Pittman Jr. at flanker wide receiver, Josh Downs is the secondary wide receiver in two wide receiver sets and slot receiver in three wide receivers sets with Alec Pierce playing on the outside in those sets. Luke McCaffrey is the best wide receiver on the board, but he would start out as a number four guy in Indianapolis and would only play if Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, or Alec Pierce got injured during the next two seasons. Luke McCaffrey will be good enough to start on the outside as a replacement to Alec Pierce in 2026.

The 6-2 202 lb Luke McCaffrey is the son of former Denver Broncos wide receiver Ed McCaffrey who was one of John Elway's top two wide receivers late in Elway's career and the younger brother of San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey. Luke McCaffrey had 71 receptions, 992 receiving yards, and 12 receiving touchdowns in 2023.

Luke McCaffrey had a good week at the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl. Luke McCaffrey also ran a 4.47 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine and can run 18/30 routes on the route tree.

  18. Seattle Seahawks: JD Bertrand, 3-4 MLB, Notre Dame

The Seattle Seahawks need to draft a 3-4 middle linebacker at some point. I like the Jerome Baker addition at 3-4 middle linebacker, but I'm not sure how Tyrel Dodson transitions from a 4-3 defense like the one he played in Buffalo to a 3-4 defense. Seattle can draft a linebacker for depth behind Tyrel Dodson with the only fourth round linebacker on the board being Notre Dame 3-4 middle linebacker JD Bertrand.

The 6-1 235 lb JD Bertrand had 41 solo tackles, 35 assisted tackles, 76 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss, 7 quarterback hurries, 5 deflections from pass breakups, 2.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. I'm not sure if JD Bertrand has the tools to be an NFL starter, but I like him as a backup to Tyrel Dodson at this point in the fourth round.

I posted a film cut of Notre Dame LB JD Bertrand VS Duke. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  19. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jacob Cowing, WR, Arizona

Pittsburgh has a number one flanker receiver in George Pickens, but it feels like they downgraded at secondary wide receiver and slot receiver. Pittsburgh replaced Diontae Johnson with Van Jefferson who also has a tedious history with dropping passes at wide receiver. Pittsburgh also replaced Allen Robinson with Quez Watkins. Pittsburgh has Calvin Austin III as their number four wide receiver. Denzel Mims is the number five wide receiver. Pittsburgh needs one more wide receiver in their top 6 to push the current starters for playing time. My top wide receiver on the board is Arizona wide receiver Jacob Cowing.

The 5-8 165 lb Jacob Cowing can run 18/30 routes on the route tree and is the best wide receiver on the board at this point in the fourth round despite his size. Jacob Cowing had 69 receptions, 1,354 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2021. Jacob Cowing had 85 receptions, 1,034 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2022. Jacob Cowing had 90 receptions, 848 receiving yards, and 13 receiving touchdowns in 2023.

Pittsburgh can draft Jacob Cowing for depth at wide receiver. Odds are Jacob Cowing is a backup, but there is an outside chance he ends up being Pittsburgh's slot receiver as a rookie.

  20. Philadelphia Eagles: Calen Bullock, SS, USC

The Philadelphia Eagles use this pick on a safety for depth. Philadelphia has C.J. Gardner-Johnson as their starting strong safety, Reed Blankenship as their starting free safety, and Sydney Brown as their third safety for depth. One more safety is needed and Calen Bullock is the best safety on the board here.

The 6-2 188 lb Calen Bullock had 42 solo tackles, 21 assisted tackles, 63 total tackles, 7 deflections from pass breakups, 2 interceptions, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 defensive touchdown on a pick six in 2023. I gave Calen Bullock a B grade in man coverage, a B grade in zone coverage, and a B- in press coverage.

Calen Bullock is good, but not dominant in coverage and is fast with a 4.48 40-yard dash. Calen Bullock is suspect against the run and missed a tackle on a San Jose State touchdown in the season opener against USC. At this point, I don't have any issue with Calen Bullock being drafted, since it is as clear as daylight he's being drafted as the number four safety on the Philadelphia Eagles depth chart.

  21. Denver Broncos: Dallin Holker, TE, Colorado State

Denver drafts a third tight end to push Adam Trautman and Greg Dulcich. Dallin Holker is the clear cut fourth best tight end in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The 6-3 241 lb Dallin Holker is the final tight end in the 2024 NFL Draft that can run all 30 routes on the route tree. Dallain Holker had 64 receptions, 767 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2023.

Dallin Holker dominated on film in the Colorado State VS Colorado game. He also went on a podcast as the Colorado State captain and interviewed well. I said back in November that if Dallin Holker falls to the fourth round, he has a shot to be the George Kittle of this draft as a day 3 pick that ends up being a massive steal at tight end. Holker is also my final tight end with a starting grade as someone whose got the floor of a backup tight end, but the ceiling of a starting tight end.

  22. Chicago Bears: Tykee Smith, FS, Georgia

Chicago has Jaquan Brisker at strong safety and Kevin Byard replacing Eddie Jackson at free safety. Chicago has former Green Bay Packers backup safety Jonathan Owens as the backup strong safety. Chicago drafts a backup free safety behind Kevin Byard, and Tykee Smith is a good backup for Byard since all of the safeties left at this point in the 2024 NFL Draft are backups.

The 5-10 206 lb Tykee Smith transferred from West Virginia to Georgia in 2021. Tykee Smith became a starting safety on Georgia in 2022 one year after being a backup to Javon Bullard and Lewis Cine. Tykee Smith had 46 solo tackles, 24 assisted tackles, 70 total tackles, 8.5 sackles for a loss, 4 interceptions, 2 sacks, 2 deflections from pass breakups, and 2 quarterback hurries in 2023. I gave Tykee Smith a B grade in man coverage, a B+ in zone coverage, a B- in press coverage, a D- in tackling on running plays. I don't like Smith as a starter, but believe he can be a solid fit as an NFL backup.

  23. Houston Texans: Roger Rosengarten, RT, Washington

Houston uses this fourth round pick from Cleveland for depth at right tackle in case Tytus Howard gets a third season ending injury in four years at right tackle. Charlie Heck sucks and cannot start under any circumstance. The fact that Heck is back as the backup right tackle is bad news, but drafting Washington right tackle Roger Rosengarten could fix the right tackle situation in Houston.

The 6-5 311 lb Roger Rosengarten has the pass blocking, run blocking, and zone blocking you want from a right tackle. His pass blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength will need to improve. Roger Rosengarten was bad in the National Champiosnip, but did well at both the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl and the 2024 NFL Combine.

I posted a film cut of Washington's offensive line VS Oregon. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.

  24. San Francisco 49ers: Michael Pratt, QB, Tulane

San Francisco traded Trey Lance to Dallas for this pick. San Francisco drafts a quarterback who would be the long-term backup to Brock Purdy since Joshua Dobbs is nothing, but a stop gap filling in the void Sam Darnold left as the backup quarterback.

The 6-2 216 lb Michael Pratt had 3,010 passing yards, 27 passing touchdowns, 478 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, 3,488 total yards, 37 total touchdowns, and a 63.6% completion percentage in 2022. Michael Pratt defeated USC quarterback Caleb Williams in the 2023 Cotton Bowl.

Michael Pratt had 2,406 passing yards, 22 passing touchdowns, 286 rushing yards, 5 rushing touchdowns, 2,692 total yards, 27 total touchdowns, 5 interceptions, and a 65.8% completion percentage in 2023. Michael Pratt was the first player to receive an invite to the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl before throwing at the 2024 NFL Combine.

I believe Michael Pratt is good enough to beat out Joshua Dobbs for the backup quarterback gig in San Francisco behind Brock Purdy. Michael Pratt has starter potential, but I don't think his upside is as high as Brock Purdy's was coming out of Iowa State following Purdy's 2019 season at Iowa State.

  25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jordan Travis, QB, Florida State

There's one more quarterback with the upside to develop into a starting quarterback. That quarterback is Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis who gets drafted by Tampa Bay here. Jordan Travis despite coming off a season ending injury has a higher ceiling than both backup Kyle Trask a 2021 second round pick and John Wolford the current third string quarterback. This is the thought process for drafting Jordan Travis in the fourth round.

The 6-1 200 lb Jordan Travis had 2,756 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, 176 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns, 2,932 total yards, 27 total touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a 63.9% completion percentage before a season ending injury in 2023.

  26. Green Bay Packers: Joe Milton, QB, Tennessee

Green Bay needs a backup to Jordan Love. Sean Clifford is not a serious option as Clifford didn't even crack my quarterback rankings. I don't see Joe Milton as an NFL starter, but he's got the best arm in this draft despite having issues with things like accuracy, progressions, and footwork. I love Joe Milton's mental focus and intensity though since Milton had this fierce look in his eyes of determination heading into the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl before showing off his arm at the 2024 NFL Combine.

The 6-5 236 lb Joe Milton Joe Milton had 2,813 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, 299 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns, 3,112 total yards, 27 total touchdowns, 4 interceptions, and a 64.7% completion percentage in 2023. Joe Milton doesn't have the ceiling to be an NFL starter, but he should be able to beat out current backup quarterback Sean Clifford for the right to be Jordan Loves backup quarterback in Green Bay.

  27. Houston Texans: Mohammed Kamara, RE, Colorado State

Houston has Danielle Hunter replacing Jonathan Greenard at 4-3 right end and Will Anderson Jr. last years defensive rookie of the year at 4-3 left end, and Derek Barnett as the situational edge rusher and third defensive end on this depth chart. Right now, Dylan Horton, a 2023 fourth round pick out of TCU is the number four defensive end on the roster. Houston can add Mohammed Kamara for depth here as Kamara is good enough to push Horton for the number four defensive end spot on this depth chart despite Horton taking TCU to the 2023 College Football Playoffs where TCU beat Michigan 45-42 before getting smoked by Georgia.

The 6-1 248 lb Mohammed Kamara was once 6-1 273 lbs before losing 25 pounds leading up to the 2024 NFL Combine. Mohammed Kamara had 29 solo tackles, 27 assisted tackles, 56 total tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, 13 sacks, 10 quarterback hurries, 2 forced fumbles, 1 defection from a pass breakup, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 defensive touchdown on the fumble recovery that Mohammed Kamara had in 2023.

Mohammed Kamara is 24. Mohammed Kamara also has the rip move, swim move, spin move, and relentless moter you want a 4-3 defensive end to have. Mohammed Kamara can get after the quarterback or stop the run. Even on this stacked Houston Texans team, Mohammed Kamara has enough potential to develop into an NFL starter and at the very worst will be a high end backup on the Houston Texans. If Dylan Horton wins the backup 4-3 left end job, Mohammed Kamara can be the third string 4-3 right end and I still believe he would make the Houston Texans final 53 man roster just based on his talent.

  28. Buffalo Bills: Tyler Davis, DT, Clemson

Buffalo has Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones back as the two starters at 4-3 defensive tackle. Buffalo added Austin Johnson, whose more of a 3-4 defensive end for depth at 4-3 defensive tackle while also adding Deshawn Williams. I had a third round grade on Clemson 4-3 defensive tackle, so I'm drafting Davis as a replacement to Williams since I believe Tyler Davis has a higher ceiling down the road than DaQuan Jones.

The 6-2 299 lb Tyler Davis had 12 solo tackles, 22 assisted tackles, 34 total tackles, 5 quarterback hits, 3.5 tackles for a loss, 3 quarterback hurries, and a 0.5 sack in 2023. I had a third round grade on Tyler Davis before he returned to Clemson last year, so this is great value for Buffalo at the end of the fourth round with no fifth round guards for depth on the board.

  29. Minnesota Vikings: Isaiah Davis, RB, South Dakota State

Minnesota has Aaron Jones on a one year deal and Ty Chandler on a rookie deal for two more years. South Dakota State running back Isaiah Davis has the speed, pass catching, ball carrier vision, pass blocking, and run blocking you want from a running back. When South Dakota State's quarterback scrambled, Isaiah Davis acted as a run blocker and he's a damn good one when it comes to run blocking. Isaiah Davis is the best run blocking running back in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The 6-0 220 lb Isaiah Davis had 249 carries, 1,451 rushing yards, 21 receptions, 173 receiving yards, 270 touches, 1,624 total yards, and 15 rushing touchdowns after taking over for Pierre Strong Jr. when South Dakota State won the FCS in 2022 with a perfect season. Isaiah Davis had 236 carries, 1,578 rushing yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 23 receptions, 199 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 259 touches, 1,777 total yards, and 19 total touchdowns in 2023.

Isaiah Davis was in the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl. He also ran a 4.58 at the 2024 NFL Combine, but makes up for his 40 time with his run blocking on quarterback scrambles and pass blocking after learning under Pierre Strong Jr. who was a great pass blocker at South Dakota State.

  30. Baltimore Ravens: Mason McCormick, LG, South Dakota State

The Baltimore Ravens currently have Ronnie Stanley at left tackle, Andrew Vorhees at left guard, Tyler Linderbaum at center, Ben Cleveland at right guard, and Daniel Faalele at right tackle. Patrick Mekari is listed as the backup left tackle and Josh Jones is listed as the backup right tackle. Baltimore will probably have Faalele, Mekari, and Jones all compete for the right tackle job with the other two guys competing for the swing tackle job.

Baltimore still needs depth on the interior offensive line. This is where South Dakota State's four year starter at left guard Mason McCormick comes into play.

The 6-4 309 lb Mason McCormick led South Dakota State to back-to-back FCS Championshiips in 2022 and 2023. Mason McCormick has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength. He has to improve as a zone blocker, but he's a high end backup that can develop into a high end starter at left guard. Baltimore may need insurance just in case Andrew Vorhees doesn't full recover from his torn ACL at the 2023 NFL Combine.

  31. Kansas City Chiefs: Matt Goncalves, LT, Pittsburgh

Kansas City has Wanya Morris, their 2023 third round pick at left tackle replacing Donovan Smith after Morris came in for an injured Donovan Smith in the regular season, Joe Thuney is back at left guard, Creed Humphrey enters the final year of his rookie deal at center, Trey Smith enters the final year of his rookie deal at right guard, and Jawaan Taylor enters his second season with Kansas City at right tackle. Kansas City can draft an offensive tackle here to compete with 2020 third round pick Lucas Niang to be the swing tackle, after Lucas Niang signed a team friendly deal to remain a backup offensive tackle in Kansas City.

The 6-6 327 lb Matt Goncalves began his career at right tackle at Pittsburgh before moving over to left tackle in 2023 following the departure of Carter Warren. Matt Goncalves had a 95.3 pass blocking grade and a 85.8 run blocking grade on Pro Football Focus before his season ending injury three games into the season at right tackle.

Matt Goncalves has the pass blocking, run blocking, zone blocking, pass blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, run blocking strength, and run blocking footwork you want from an offensive tackle in the NFL. Kansas City drafts Matt Goncalves as their backup left tackle to Wanya Morris as Morris was a player I loved as a pass blocker, but not so much as a run blocker. Matt Goncalves is a high end backup with potential to become an above average starter perhaps even a high end starter in Kansas City if injuries keep Wanya Morris off the field once again in his second NFL season.

  32. San Francisco 49ers: Marshawn Kneeland, LE, Western Michigan

San Francisco got this compensation pick at 132 thanks to the Las Vegas Raiders signing a contract with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Jimmy Garoppolo won two Super Bowls as a backup with the New England Patriots, but only managed to get San Francisco to one Super Bowl as the starting quarterback.

San Francisco currently has Nick Bosa at 4-3 right end, Leonard Floyd taking over at 4-3 left end, Drake Jackson as a situational edge rusher after starting at 4-3 left end last year before his week 10 injury, and Yetur Gross-Matos as the number four defensive end on this depth chart. There is one player in Dane Brugler's top 32 still on the board in the fourth round and that's Western Michigan defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, who has experience at both defensive end and defensive tackle.

The 6-3 268 lb Marshawn Kneeland had 29 solo tackles, 28 assisted tackles, 57 total tackles, 8 quarterback hurries, 7.5 tackles for a loss, 5 quarterback hits, 4.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 carries, 1 rushing yard, and 1 rushing touchdown in 2023. Marshawn Kneeland's versatility to play anywhere on a 4-3 defensive line at 4-3 right end, 4-3 defensive tackle, and 4-3 left end makes him a great fit here.

  33. Buffalo Bills: Chau Smith-Wade, CB, Washington State

Buffalo got this compensation pick at 133 thanks to Buffalo Bills 2018 first round pick Tremaine Edmunds signing with the Chicago Bears during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Chicago signed Buffalo's 2018 first round pick at middle linebacker to replace their 4-3 middle linebacker, Roquan Smith who was also drafted in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft ahead of Tremaine Edmunds.

Buffalo has Christian Benford at field cornerback, Rasul Douglas at boundary cornerback, Taron Johnson at nickel cornerback, and Kaiir Elam at dime cornerback. Buffalo also has Taylor Rapp at strong safety, Cole Bishop, who I mocked in round 2 at free safety out of Utah, Mike Edwards as third safety for depth, and Damar Hamlin as their number four safety. I'm giving Buffalo a fifth cornerback that can plug into a quarter cornerback role.

The 5-10 187 lb Chau Smith-Wade had 22 solo tackles, 13 assisted tackles, 35 total tackles, 6 deflections from pass breakups, 2 tackles for a loss, and 1 quarterback hurry in 2023. Chau Smith-Wade had 2 interceptions in the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl before running a 4.54 40-yard dash and having 18 reps on the bench press at the 2024 NFL Combine.

I gave Chau Smith-Wade an A+ in man coverage, an A grade in zone coverage, a D+ in press coverage, a D in tackling and a D- in run stuffing. Chau Smith-Wade can play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 scheme. He fits the Buffalo Bills zone coverage scheme, but the bad outweighs the good. Still, he's the best cornerback on the board at this point in the fourth round.

  34. New York Jets: Kamal Hadden, CB, Tennessee

Baltimore got this compensation pick at 134 when their 2019 fourth round pick Ben Powers Denver Broncos in the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Baltimore ended up trading this compensation pick to the New York Jets in the trade that sent Morgan Moses back to the New York Jets for the earlier fourth round pick that the New York Jets owned from the Denver Broncos prior to Baltimore dealing Morgan Moses to the New York Jets. Baltimore acquired the Broncos fourth rounder which was traded to the Jets as well as a sixth rounder in the Morgan Moses trade which got the Jets this compensation pick.

New York has Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner at field cornerback, D.J. Reader at boundary cornerback, and Michael Carter II at nickel cornerback. Tennessee cornerback Kamal Hadden led the SEC in deflections from pass breakups before a season ending injury in 2023.

The 6-1 196 lb Kamal Hadden had 13 solo tackles, 6 assisted tackles, 19 total tackles, 8 deflections from pass breakups, 3 interceptions, 1 quarterback hurry, and 1 defensive touchdown on a pick 6 before a season ending injury against Alabama in 2023. I gave Kamal Hadden an A+ grade in man coverage, an A grade in zone coverage, and an A- in press coverage.

Kamal Hadden can play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 scheme. He's the fourth cornerback that got an A- grade or better in man, zone, and press coverage joining Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Caelon Carson with such a distinction. If he didn't suffer a season ending injury, Kamal Hadden might be a fringe day 2 pick.

  35. San Francisco 49ers: Marist Liuafu, LOLB, Notre Dame

San Francisco gets an outside linebacker for depth. D'Vondre Campbell will most likely replace Dre Greenlaw at 4-3 right outside linebacker and right outside linebacker in a 4-2-5 while Fred Warner remains the middle linebacker in both a 4-3 and a 4-2-5. This begs the question as to who starts at 4-3 left outside linebacker. Marist Liuafu is a pass rushing linebacker that excels in coverage as I gave Marist Liuafu a B grade in man coverage, an A grade in zone coverage, and a C grade in press coverage.

The 6-2 239 lb Marist Liuafu had 23 solo tackles, 21 assisted tackles, 44 total tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks, 2 quarterback hurries, 2 deflections from pass breakups, and 1 quarterback hurry in 2023. Marist Liuafu's two biggest strengths are his pass rushing and ability to play zone coverage like a safety.

I posted a film cut of Notre Dame LB Marist Liuafu VS Duke. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
