Kansas City gets a running back for depth to replace Jerrick McKinnon. Dylan Laube is a steal to start round 7. Kansas City will have Isiah Pacheco as their starting running back, Clyde Edwards-Helaire as the backup running back, and Dylan Laube as the third string running back.
The 5-10 210 lb Dylan Laube had 245 carries, 1,205 rushing yards, 15 rushing touchdowns, 49 receptions, 464 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns, 294 touches, 1,669 total yards, and 17 total touchdowns in 2022. Dylan Laube had 158 carries, 715 rushing touchdowns, 9 rushing touchdowns, 68 receptions, 699 receiving yards, 7 receiving touchdowns, 226 touches, 1,414 total yards, and 16 total touchdowns in 2023.
Dylan Laube did well when it came to showcasing speed, pass catching, ball carrier vision, and pass blocking at the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl. Dylan Laube ran a 4.54 40-yard dash and did 23 reps on the bench press at the 2024 NFL Combine.
Washington drafts a backup right tackle to Andrew Wylie. TCU right tackle Andrew Coker could be an option here.
The 6-7 315 lb Andrew Coker has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength you want. Washington can draft him and develop him behind Andrew Wylie.
Las Vegas uses this seventh round pick from New England on a safety. Las Vegas has Marcus Epps at strong safety and Tre'von Moehrig their 2021 second round pick out of TCU at free safety with both safeties in contract years. One safety that really stands out on the board in the seventh round is Wake Forest safety Malik Mustapha who could honestly go much higher than where I'm projecting him.
The 5-10 210 lb Malik Mustapha had 45 solo tackles, 35 assisted tackles, 80 total tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 2 deflections from pass breakups, 1 interception, 1 quarterback hurry, 1 forced fumble, and a 0.5 sack in 2023. Malik Mustapha did 23 reps on the bench press at the 2024 NFL Combine.
I gave Malik Mustapha an A- in man coverage, an A+ in zone coverage, and an A in press coverage from what I saw on film against Florida State. Malik Mustapha can play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 scheme.
Cincinnati gets a draft and stash cornerback to challenge D.J. Ivey for the quarter cornerback job. Jarrian Jones is an upgrade over D.J. Ivey which is why I have the Bengals taking a second cornerback in the late rounds here.
The 6-0 190 lb Jarrian Jones had 16 solo tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 23 total tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 3 deflections from pass breakups, 3 interceptions, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, and 1 defensive touchdown on a pick 6 in 2023. Jarrian Jones was the boundary cornerback on an undefeated Florida State team plus he ran a 4.38 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
Many believe Jones has the ideal size and necessary speed to be a nickel cornerback in the NFL on day 1 in the NFL. His feet looked choppy when watching him against Duke which is the only reason I'm lower on him than the consensus. I see a raw quarter cornerback at the NFL level that can develop into a nickel cornerback with the right coaching staff.
I gave Jarrian Jones an A- in man coverage, a B in zone coverage, and a B- in press coverage. Jarrian Jones will work in a cover 0, cover 1, or cover 2 defense where he's playing man coverage. Cincinnati is a good fit for Jarrian Jones in the seventh round.
The Los Angeles Chargers get a running back for depth. Los Angeles has J.K. Dobbins as their starting running back, Gus Edwards as their backup running back, and Isaiah Spiller as their third string running back. The Los Angeles Chargers might spend one of their two seventh round picks on a running back for depth.
The 5-8 207 lb Cody Schrader had 276 carries, 1,627 rushing yards, 16 rushing touchdowns, 22 receptions, 191 receiving yards, 0 receiving touchdowns, 298 touches, 1,818 total yards, and 16 total touchdowns in 2023. Cody Schraeder led the SEC in rushing yards last year.
Arizona has Paris Johnson Jr. at left tackle. Arizona brought in Jonah Williams at right tackle, but I also mocked JC Latham to Arizona at 27 to be their right tackle of the future. Arizona has Kelvin Beachum as the backup left tackle. Arizona might draft a left tackle to compete with Kelvin Beachum for a roster spot here in the seventh round.
The 6-8 313 lb Frank Crum ran a 4.94 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. Frank Crum has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, and run blocking footwork. Frank Crum has good athletic traits for an NFL left tackle, but has trouble keeping his hands on edge rushers and will need to clean up that part of his game at the next level.
Cleveland got this pick by trading a third string fourth string offensive tackle that wasn't going to make the Cleveland Browns roster for a seventh round pick. Only two players with sixth round grades remain on my board and both are safeties which is a position the Cleveland Browns are stacked at currently. Both of these safeties though have the versatility to play cornerback, strong safety, or free safety.
Cleveland has Grant Delpit starting at strong safety, Juan Thornhill starting at free safety, D'Anthony Bell as the backup strong safety, Rodney McLeod Jr. as the backup free safety, Ronnie Hickman an undrafted free safety that was the backup free safety last year is now the third string free safety. The only scenario where I could see the Cleveland Browns drafting a safety is if a sixth round safety falls to the seventh round and Andrew Berry decides to bring in one more guy for competition in the safety room.
The 6-2 219 lb Kitan Oladapo had 44 solo tackles, 30 assisted tackles, 74 total tackles, 8 deflections from pass breakups, 3 tackles for a loss, 2 interceptions, 1 sack, 1 quarterback hurry, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. Kitan Olaadapo lined up at field cornerback, boundary cornerback, nickel cornerback, strong safety, and free safety on Oregon State's secondary.
I gave Kitan Oladapo a B- in man coverage, an A- in zone coverage, and a C in press coverage. Kitan Oladapo works best in a cover 2, cover 3, and cover 4 scheme.
Baltimore gets a safety for depth behind Kyle Hamilton at strong safety and Marcus Williams at free safety. One player with the versatility to play nickel cornerback, strong safety, and free safety that's still on the board is Auburn safety Jaylin Simpson. Jaylin Simpson is my only sixth round prospect left on the board in the seventh round.
The 5-11 178 lb Jaylin Simpson had 28 solo tackles, 8 assisted tackles, 36 total tackles, 4 interceptions, 3 deflections from pass breakups, 1.5 tackles for a loss, 1 quarterback hurry, and 1 defensive touchdown on a pick 6 in 2023. Jaylin Simpson ran a 4.46 40-yard dash.
I gave Jaylin Simpson a B in man coverage, an A- in zone coverage, and a B- in press coverage. Jaylin Simpson can do well in a cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 scheme.
Las Vegas has Michael Mayer as the starting tight end. Las Vegs replaced one former Brown Austin Hooper with another former Brown in Harrison Bryant. I feel like Las Vegas may draft a tight end to compete with Austin Hooper for the backup tight end job and that's exactly why Devin Culp, the final tight end in my tight end rankings comes into play here.
The 6-3 231 lb Devin Culp had 16 receptions, 208 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns in 2023. Devin Culp ran a 4.47 40-yard dash and is a good blocker on film.
I posted a film cut of Washington tight end Devin Culp versus Oregon. You can watch the film cut I posted of Devin Culp below.
Minnesota has Jerry Tillery starting at 3-4 right end, Harrison Phillips at 3-4 nose tackle, and Jonathan Bullard at 3-4 left end. Minnesota has Jacquelin Roy for depth at 3-4 right end, but lacks depth everywhere else.
Minnesota drafts a backup nose tackle to Harrison Phillips. LSU's backup defensive tackle Jordan Jefferson is the younger brother of Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Taking Justin Jefferson in the seventh round makes sense if Minnesota hasn't drafted a nose tackle by this point.
The 6-3 323 lb Jordan Jefferson had 13 solo tackles, 23 assisted tackles, 36 total tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, 1 deflection from a pass breakup, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. Jordan Jefferson was a backup to Mekhi Wingo and Maason Smith on LSU's depth chart at defensive tackle. He also got into a scuffle with Christian Haynes at the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl.
The 6-3 251 lb Jaylin Harrell had 15 solo tackles, 16 assisted tackles, 31 total tackles, 9 tackles for a loss, 6.5 sacks, 5 quarterback hurries, 2 forced fumles, and 1 deflection from a pass breakup in 2023. Jaylin Harrell has the versatility to play 4-3 right end, 4-3 left end, 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 middle linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, 3-4 right outside linebacker, 3-4 middle linebacker, and 3-4 left outside linebacker. New England will find a role for Jaylin Harrell with his versatility.
Minnesota drafts a 3-4 left end for depth. Jaden Crumedy is a really good value pick for Minnesota at this point in the seventh round.
The 6-4 309 lb Jaden Crumedy had 10 solo tackles, 25 assisted tackles, 35 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, 2 quarterback hurries, and 2 deflections from pass breakups in 2023. Jaden Crumedy has the versatility to play 4-3 defensive tackle or 3-4 left end.
Dallas drafts a safety for depth. Dallas has Malik Hooker at strong safety and Donovan Wilson at free safety, but both safeties are versatile enough to play strong safety or free safety. Dallas needs a backup safety and Air Force safety Trey Taylor may be a fit here.
The 6-0 209 lb Trey Taylor had 40 solo tackles, 34 assisted tackles, 74 total tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 4 deflections from pass breakups, 3 interceptions, 1 blocked kick/punt, and 1 defensive touchdown on a pick six in 2023. Trey Taylor won the 2023 Jim Thorpe Award for the top defensive back in College Football.
Indianapolis has Kwity Paye as their starting 4-3 right end, Samson Ekubam as the starting 4-3 left end, Dayo Odeyingbo the Indianapolis Colts 2021 second round pick as the backup 4-3 right end, and Tyquan Lewis as the backup 4-3 left end. Indianapolis drafts one more 4-3 defensive end for depth to stash and develop for the future.
The 6-2 244 lb Xavier Thomas had 16 solo tackles, 9 assisted tackles, 25 total tackles, 12 quarterback hurries, 4 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks, 2 deflections from pass breakups, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. Xavier Thomas once edged out Micah Parsons as the top High School Football Player in the recruiting class of 2018.
Seattle has Uchenna Nwosu at 3-4 right outside linebacker, Boye Mafe at 3-4 left outside linebacker, Darrell Taylor Jr. as the backup 3-4 right outside linebacker, and Derrick Hall as the backup 3-4 left outside linebacker. Seattle might draft one more pass rusher for depth since Darrell Taylor Jr. enters a contract year. You could move Derrick Hall to the backup 3-4 right outside linebacker job and make the edge rusher you draft here the backup 3-4 left outside linebacker in 2025.
The 6-3 250 lb Nelson Caesar had 28 solo tackles, 15 assisted tackles, 41 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, 9.5 sacks, 3 quarterback hurries, 1 deflection from a pass breakup, and 1 blocked kick/punt in 2023. Nelson Caesar couldn't do anything as a pass rusher when watching him against Texas Tech which doesn't even have a top 5 offensive line in the Big 12. That's a big reason I'm much lower on most as I got Nelson Caesar in the seventh round.
Jacksonville gets a center for depth in the seventh round. Jacksonville signed Mitch Morse to replace their 2022 third round pick Luke Fortner. I'm drafting someone that can develop behind Morse and Fortner eventually becoming the backup center in Jacksonville.
The 6-4 307 lb Will Putnam has the run blocking, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength you want in an NFL center. He's got to develop his pass blocking and zone blocking at the next level though.
Cincinnati has Cordell Volson as their starting left guard and Cody Ford as the backup left guard. Neither of those left guards are household names even though Volson has been effective enough to keep the left guard job while Ford is now a journeyman at this point. Oklahoma left guard McKade Mettauer could develop into a quality backup left guard.
The 6-4 316 lb McKade Mettauer has the pass blocking, pass blocking footwork, and pass blocking strength you want from a left guard. He's got to improve his run blocking and zone blocking, but might be a future backup left guard in Cincinnati.
I posted a film cut of Oklahoma's offensive line VS Texas. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
Houston has Joe Mixon as their starting running back and Dameon Pierce as their backup running back. Houston drafts one more running back for depth in the seventh round.
The 5-8 220 lb Ray Davis 199 carries, 1,129 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, 33 receptions, 323 receiving yards, 7 receiving touchdowns, 232 touches, 1,452 total yards, and 21 total touchdowns in 2023. Ray Davis had some big runs against Florida, but he didn't wow me in terms of speed or pass catching despite excelling in those areas throughout the season. That being said, Ray Davis has good value in day 3 and exceptional value if he falls to the seventh round.
New Orleans drafts another wide receiver to stash for depth. This local wide receiver also has the speed to play special teams. The local that I'm referring to is Louisiana Tech wide receiver Smoke Harris, who heads to New Orleans.
The 5-7 183 lb Smoke Harris had 83 receptions, 796 receiving yards, and 4 receiving touchdowns in 2023. Smoke Harris stood out in a big way in Louisiana Tech's contest against Florida International. I believe New Orleans drafts Smoke Harris as a future return specialist in the seventh round.
The Carolina Panthers use this pick on a backup left tackle after Ikem Ekwonu finished as a bottom five left tackle. Marshall left tackle Ethan Driskell is a great value pick at this point in the seventh round.
The 6-8 312 lb Ethan Driskel has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, and run blocking footwork you want in a left tackle. He's got to get stronger and improve his zone blocking, but he could be a nice backup to Ikem Ekwonu.
I may have mocked a cornerback to Miami earlier. This is the best player on my board at this point in the seventh round. Kentucky cornerback Andru Phillips gives Miami a cornerback for depth here.
The 5-10 191 lb Andru Phillips had 33 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, 47 total tackles, 5 deflections from pass breakups, and 1.5 tackles for a loss in 2023. I gave Andru Phillips an A- in man coverage, a C in zone coverage, and a C- in press coverage. Andru Phillips can do well in a cover 0, cover 1, or cover 2 scheme.
Tennessee currently has Will Levis as the starting quarterback and Mason Rudolph as the backup quarterback. I trust Mason Rudolph more than Will Levis which is why I'm mocking a quarterback to Tennessee in the seventh round.
The 6-1 215 lb Devin Leary had 2,746 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 1 rushing touchdown, 26 total touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and a 56.3% completion percentage in 2023. Devin Leary did great things at North Carolina State before transferring to Kentucky to replace Will Levis last year in College. Now Devin Leary gets the opportunity to play behind Will Levis in the NFL.
Cleveland has Nick Chubb as the starting running back and Jerome Ford as the backup running back. Nyheim Hines, D'Onta Foreman, and maybe one other running back that Cleveland considers drafting in the seventh round compete for the third string running back job.
The 6-1 225 lb Carson Steele had 167 carries, 847 rushing yards, 6 rushing touchdowns, 17 receptions, 163 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns, 184 touches, 1,010 total yards, and 8 total touchdowns in 2023. Carson Steele had an okay season at UCLA, but didn't dominate on the ground like he did at Ball State in 2022 before transferring to UCLA.
Dallas gets a running back for depth behind Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn. Alabama running back Jase McClellan was the final running back to make my running back rankings.
The 5-10 221 lb Jase McClellan had 180 carries, 880 rushing yards, 8 rushing touchdowns, 15 receptions, 137 receiving yards, 0 receiving touchdowns, 195 touches, 1,117 total yards, and 8 total touchdowns in 2023. Jase McClellan showed he has the speed and pass catching to be an NFL running back even if it is in a third string role in 2023.
Green Bay gets one more wide receiver to compete for a roster spot. Oregon State wide receiver Anthony Gould could be a player Green Bay targets in the late rounds.
The 5-8 174 lb Anthony Gould had 44 receptions, 718 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns in 2023. Anthony Gould ran a 4.39 40-yard dash and can be used on special teams as a return specialist here.
I don't trust Sua Opea, the Philadelphia Eagles backup right guard as the starting left guard. Boston College left guard Kyle Hergel could be an option here.
The 6-2 315 lb Kyle Hergel is a player to keep an eye on. Kyle Hergel has the pass blocking, pass blocking footwork, and pass blocking strength you want. He's got to develop as a run blocker and zone blocker though.
Houston is already stacked at cornerback. Houston adds one more cornerback for depth by drafting South Carolina cornerback Marcellas Dial here.
The 6-0 190 lb Marcellas Dial had 25 solo tackles, 11 assisted tackles, 36 total tackles, 10 deflections from pass breakups, 2 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack in 2023. Marcellas Dial will be a backup cornerback here in Houston.
Buffalo Bills: Ryan Flournoy, WR, Southeast Missouri State
Buffalo drafts a third wide receiver. Ideally most NFL depth charts have six quality wide receivers. Buffalo has three quality starters if they draft a wide receiver at 28 with Justin Shorter as a low end number four target. The second receiver you draft will challenge Justin Shorter for the number four wide receiver spot on your depth chart. The third wide receiver will challenge for a special teams spot as a return specialist.
The 6-2 202 lb Ryan Flournoy had 61 receptions, 984 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2022. Ryan Flournoy had 57 receptions, 839 receiving yards, and 6 receiving touchdowns in 2023.
Detroit has a ton of wide receivers. Detroit drafts one more to stash for depth.
The 5-9 182 lb Isaiah Williams had 82 receptions, 1,055 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns in 2023. Isaiah Williams really didn't impress me outside of his speed and route running against Kansas. I honestly don't see anything more than a backup wide receiver in the NFL.
Baltimore may end up drafting someone else at offensive tackle. Baltimore has Ronne Stanley at left tackle. Patrick Mekari and Daniel Faalele are competing for the right tackle job. Baltimore also has Josh Jones as the backup left tackle. Anim Dankwah would be a great fit for Baltimore this late in the draft.
The 6-8 353 lb Anim Dankwah has a similar skill set to Daniel Faalele. Anim Dankwah can develop on the practice squad for a year before claiming a backup offensive tackle spot if he cannot win one of the top four offensive tackle spots in training camp as a rookie.
San Francisco may want to draft a cornerback for depth in the late rounds. You got Charvarius Ward at field cornerback. Ambry Thomas, Deommodore Lenoir, and Isaac Yiadom are competing for the boundary cornerback spot and I mocked Kris Abrams-Draine to San Francisco in the second round too who could end up as the number two boundary cornerback as well. One more body to push those cornerbacks is needed. Arkansas cornerback Dwight McGlothern may be a fit here.
The 6-2 185 lb Dwight McGlothern had 19 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackle, 20 total tackles, 6 deflections from pass breakups, 3 interceptions, 3 tackles for a loss, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. I gave Dwight McGlothern an A grade in man coverage, a C grade in zone coverage, and a C- in press coverage after watching him versus LSU. Dwight McGlothern can play in a cover 0, cover 1, or cover 2 scheme where he's playing man coverage.
Tennessee gets a wide receiver for depth. Calvin Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins can both be flanker wide receivers with one playing secondary wide receiver. Treylon Burks is now the slot receiver.
The 5-9 191 lb Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint had 34 receptions, 535 receiving yards, and 4 receiving touchdowns in 2023. Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint ran 10/30 routes on the route tree and was a great find late in the seventh round.
Los Angeles got this compensation pick at 253 thanks to the Kansas City Chiefs signing a contract with Los Angeles Chargers 2019 fourth round pick Drue Tranquill during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Drue Tranquill is moving to 4-3 right outside linebacker this year after getting extended.
Los Angeles gets a right tackle for depth. The 6-6 329 lb Josiah Ezirim is a good fit for the Los Angeles Chargers here.
Los Angeles got this compensation pick at 254 thanks to the Cincinnati Bengals signing a contract with Los Angeles Rams 2019 seventh round pick Nick Scott during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Nick Scott signed with the Carolina Panthers this offseason.
Los Angeles brings in one more cornerback for depth. Syracuse cornerback Isaiah Johnson is the best cornerback on the board.
The 6-3 205 lb Isaiah Johnson had 36 solo tackles, 21 assisted tackles, 57 total tackles, 6 deflections from pass breakups, 1 interception, and 1 tackle for a loss in 2023. Isaiah Johnson did well enough to get an invite to the 2024 NFL Combine.
Green Bay got this compensation pick at 255 thanks to 3-4 defensive end Dean Lowry signing with Minnesota Vikings during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Dean Lowry signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during Free Agency.
Green Bay drafts a right guard to compete with Sean Rhyan for the right guard job. Penn State right guard Sal Wormley is the top right guard on my board.
The 6-3 330 lb Sal Wormley has the run blocking, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength you want in a right guard. He's got to develop his pass blocking and zone blocking though.
I posted a film cut of Penn State's offensive line VS Ohio State. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
New York got this compensation pick at 256 thanks to the Miami Dolphins signing a contract with 2018 fifth round pick Mike White during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Mike White is now the backup quarterback on the Miami Dolphins. Denver acquired this pick after trading for New York Jets 2021 first round pick Zach Wilson.
New York gets an outside linebacker for depth. Tatum Bethune lined up at 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 middle linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, and 3-4 middle linebacker against Duke.
The 6-0 229 lb Tatum Bethune had 32 solo tackles, 38 assisted tackles, 70 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, 3 deflections from pass breakups, 3 quarterback hurries, and 1 interception in 2023. Tatum Bethune was known for his run stuffing more than anything else.
New York got this compensation pick at 257 thanks to Chicago Bears signing guard Dan Feeney during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Dan Feeney signed with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason.
New York drafts one more cornerback for depth with the Mr. Irrelevant pick in my 2024 NFL Mock Draft. Virginia State cornerback Willie Drew comes off the board here.
The 6-0 191 lb Willie Drew ran a 4.47 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. Willie Drew has the speed you want for a backup cornerback that could develop into a future starter.
