Minnesota needs depth at offensive tackle behind left tackle Christian Darrisaw and right tackle Brian O'Neill. Michigan left tackle Ladarius Henderson was the blindside on the National Champions in College Football making him a good fit here.
The 6-4 309 lb Ladarius Henderson is mainly a left tackle, but showed the versatility to play inside at left guard if needed. Ladarius Henderson has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, and run blocking footwork you want. He needs to get stronger and improve his zone blocking if he's gonna start at the next level. He might work in a situation like Minnesota where he gets limited reps at swing tackle.
Pittsburgh gets a fourth pass rusher for depth in the sixth round. Pittsburgh already has Alex Highsmith at 3-4 right outside linebacker, T.J. Watt at 3-4 left outside linebacker, and Nick Herbig as a backup 3-4 right outside linebacker. Getting a backup pass rusher behind T.J. Watt wouldn't hurt.
The 6-1 243 lb Jalen Green had 23 solo tackles, 27 assisted tackles, 50 total tackles, 21 tackles for a loss, 15.5 sacks, 2 deflections from pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 interception in 2023. Jalen Green led the FBS in sacks last year and was one of the players that was snubbed from the 2024 NFL Combine.
Seattle drafts a backup left tackle to take over for Stone Forsyth whose on the final year of his rookie deal. Satoa Laumea showed the versatility to kick inside to guard at the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl.
The 6-4 319 lb Satoa Laumea has the pass blocking, run blocking, and pass blocking footwork you want. The rest of his game is a project, but Seattle has to add one more body at offensive tackle for detph. George Fant is the backup right tackle with Stone Forsyth as the backup left tackle, but one more tackle wouldn't hurt with all the injuries Seattle had on the offensive line last year.
New England has Rhamdonre Stevenson as their main running back and Antonio Gibson as the complimentary running back. Another running back for depth could be added. Clemson running back Will Shipley may remind the New England Patriots of Rex Burkhead.
The 5-11 206 lb Will Shipley had 149 carries, 749 rushing yards, 16 receptions, 116 receiving yards, 165 touches, 865 total yards, and 11 rushing touchdowns as a freshman in 2021. Will Shipley had 210 carries, 1,182 rushing yards, 38 receptions, 242 receiving yards, 248 touches, 1,424 total yards, and 15 rushing touchdowns in 2022. Will Shipley had 167 carries, 827 rushing yards, 5 rushing touchdowns, 31 receptions, 244 receiving yards, 2 receiving touchdowns, 198 touches, 1,071 total yards, and 7 total touchdowns in 2023.
Will Shipley entered the year as a preseason third round pick due to his running and pass catching. His ball carrier vision and pass blocking are still question marks that need to improve, but not necesiarrily weaknesses in Will Shipley's game either. Will Shipley is a really good value pick around pick 180.
The Los Angeles Chargers get a left guard for depth. Michigan left guard Trevor Keegan was another piece on Michigan's National Title Winning team led by head coach Jim Harbaugh. Los Angeles can draft Trevor Keegan as a backup to Zion Johnson.
The 6-5 308 lb Trevor Keegan has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength you want from a left guard. He's not a zone blocker, but an ideal backup to Zion Johnson, the Los Angeles Chargers 2022 first round pick out of Boston College.
Tennessee has Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears as their top two running backs. I believe Tennessee could draft someone to compete with Hassan Haskins for the third string running back job. Washington running back Dillon Johnson is a bargain at this point in the sixth round when you consider I have a fifth round grade on Dillon Johnson.
The 6-0 217 lb Dillon Johnson had 233 carries, 1,195 rushing yards, 24 receptions, 190 receiving yards, 257 touches, 1,385 total yards, and 16 rushing touchdowns in 2023. Dillon Johnson impressed me in pass protection when watching his tape, but his 4.72 40-yard dash may knock him down to the final two rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft despite having the pass catching and ball carrier vision you want from a running back.
I posted a film cut of Washington running back Dillon Johnson versus Oregon. You can watch the film cut I posted of Dillon Johnson below.
New York stashes an offensive lineman for depth. Maryland left tackle Delmar Glaze has the versatility to play left tackle, left guard, center, right guard, and right tackle. Delmar Glaze showed the pass blocking, pass blocking footwork, and pass blocking strength you want from a left tackle against Michigan State. Delmar Glaze needs to develop as a run blocker and zone blocker, but he's not bad for a backup left tackle in the sixth round.
The 6-4 323 lb Delmar Glaze was a left tackle at Maryland. New York has Andrew Thomas secured at left tackle and brought in Jermaine Eluemenor to replace Evan Neal at right tackle making Neal the swing tackle. Delmar Glaze would be competing with Yodny Cajuste for the backup left tackle job.
The Miami Dolphins have a bunch of running backs with Raheem Mostert, De'Von Achane, Salvon Ahmed, and Jeffrey Wilson Jr. at running back. Both Ahmed and Jeffrey Wilson Jr. enter contract years, so if there's a running back Miami likes enough to add for depth, they could add that player and let him compete with Ahmed and Jeffrey Wilson Jr. for a third string roster spot in training camp while saving money in the process.
The 5-8 215 lb Kimani Vidal had 231 carries, 1,132 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, 26 receptions, 140 receiving yards, 0 receiving touchdowns, 257 touches, 1,272 total yards, and 10 total touchdowns when Troy won the Sun Belt Conference in 2022. Kimani Vidal had 297 carries, 1,661 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, 18 receptions, 201 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 315 touches, 1,862 total yards, and 19 total touchdowns when Troy repeated as Sun Belt Champions during Kimani Vidal's senior season in 2023.
Kimani Vidal went off with 5 rushing touchdowns in the 2023 Sun Belt Championship game. He's not a bad pass catcher. His ball carrier vision is good, but not great. I really didn't see Vidal pass block, but I can see him either as a backup or a special teams player on the Miami Dolphins.
Greg Zuerlein is getting older. Since I listed a player that went in the fifth round before this, I'm giving the Jets a kicker to develop behind Greg Zuerlein.
The 6-0 196 lb James Turner took over for Jake Moody at kicker at Michigan. New York drafts him to succeed Greg Zuerlein as I have a sixth round grade on James Turner.
Arizona brings in a pass rusher here with Dennis Gardeck at 3-4 right outside linebacker, Zaven Collins at 3-4 left outside linebacker, and B.J. Ojulari as the backup 3-4 right outside linebacker. Adisa Isaac is one of my fifth round pass rushers still on the board.
The 6-5 250 lb Adisa Isaac had 23 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, 37 total tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, 5 quarterback hurries, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. Adisa Isaac is projected between rounds 3 and 5 in most mock drafts, but he's an absolute steal this late in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Atlanta drafts a backup right tackle behind Kaleb McGary. Kaleb McGary has done well the last two years since being on the hot seat, but I also feel like Atlanta could add someone for depth at right tackle.
The 6-5 298 lb Cadean Wallace has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength you want in a backup right tackle. Wallace is a nice fit for Atlanta at this point in the sixth round.
I posted a film cut of Penn State's offensive line VS Ohio State. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
Houston adds an outside linebacker for depth. Curtis Jacobs is decent as a run stuffer, but his big strength is coverage. He also hits hard and seems like an ideal backup outside linebacker in a 4-3 defense with the versatility to play both 4-3 right outside linebacker and 4-3 left outside linebacker.
The 6-1 241 lb Curtis Jacobs had 31 solo tackles, 18 assisted tackles, 49 total tackles, 9 tackles for a loss, 5 quarterback hurries, and 2.5 sacks in 2023. Curtis Jacobs was decent in both man and zone coverage to be a backup linebacker in the NFL despite having 0 deflections from pass breakups.
Houston drafts another safety for depth here. Houston has Jalen Pitre at strong safety and Jimmie Ward at free safety. Houston also has Lonnie Johnson Jr. and Eric Murray as backup safeties with M.J. Stewart as a third string safety. Houston's safety depth is better than advertised, but adding one more safety that can be effective in coverage on a rookie deal wouldn't be the worst thing.
The 5-11 211 lb Sione Vaki played safety, running back, and wide receiver with Utah this past season. Sione Vaki had 37 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, 51 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, 2 deflections from pass breakups, 1 interception, 42 carries, 317 rushing yards, 2 rushing touchdowns, 11 receptions, 203 receiving yards, 3 receiving touchdowns, 53 touches, 520 total yards, and 5 total touchdowns in 2023.
Sione Vaki impressed me enough to warrant an A- grade in man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage. Sione Vaki can play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 scheme. I like Vaki more than Beau Brade and Jaden Hicks who are both getting way too much hype from the mainstream media. Sione Vaki ran a 4.62 40-yard dash and struggled in pass protection against Washington running back Dillon Johnson. It's possible Sione Vaki falls this far for those reasons despite doing better against Washington than Jaden Hicks.
New Orleans has Chris Olave as their flanker wide receiver. New Orleans replaced Michael Thomas with Cedrick Wilson Jr. which feels like a downgrade. I trust both Rashid Shaheed last years slot receiver and 2023 sixth round pick A.T. Perry more than Cedrick Wilson Jr. There's two fifth round prospects left on my board in the sixth round with one being a wide receiver and the other being a punter. New Orleans is getting the wide receiver here.
The 6-1 205 lb Jordan Whittington had 42 receptions, 505 receiving yards, and 1 receiving touchdown in 2023. Worst case scenario, Jordan Whittington is your number five receiver and a high end backup in New Orleans. Best case scenario, you get a number two wide receiver or a slot receiver in the sixth round of this years draft. The former scenario with Jordan Whittington being a backup in New Orleans appears to be more likely.
Indianapolis drafts a punter here. Vanderbilt punter Matt Heyball was a Ray Guy Award finalist and is my third best punter in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The 6-1 187 lb Matthew Heyball averagef 47.6 yards per punt in 2023. Maybe the Indianapolis Colts will have Pat McAfee announce a pick on day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft if it happens to be a punter.
Seattle has D.K. Metcalf at flanker wide receiver, Tyler Lockett as the secondary wide receiver, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba at slot receiver. Seattle has Jake Bobo, but outside of Bobo, the depth at wide receiver feels suspect for Seattle. Pittsburgh Panthers wide receiver Bub Means ran a good variety of routes on the route tree despite awful quarterback play by the Pittsburgh Panthers this past season and would be a nice depth piece in Seattle.
The 6-1 212 lb Bub Means had 41 receptions, 721 receiving yards, and 6 receiving touchdowns in 2023. I saw Bub Means run 6 or 7 out of 30 routes on the route tree. Bub Means also ran a 4.43 40-yard dash and did 12 reps on the bench press at the 2024 NFL Combine. Bub Means has big hands too 10 1/8 inches to be precise.
Jacksonville traded this pick to New England for Mac Jones as a backup to Trevor Lawrence. New England has Matthew Judon at 3-4 right outside linebacker, Josh Uche at 3-4 left outside linebacker, and Anfernee Jennings as a situational pass rusher. Michigan edge rusher Braiden McGreggor provides great value as a fourth 3-4 outside linebacker in the sixth round.
The 6-5 263 lb Braiden McGregor had 13 solo tackles, 13 assisted tackles, 26 total tackles, 9 tackles for a loss, 7 quarterback hurries, 4.5 sacks, 3 deflections from pass breakups, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. Braiden McGregor has nice rip and swim moves and makes a lot of sense as a developmental pass rusher in the sixth round.
Cincinnati has Cam Taylor-Britt at field cornerback, D.J. Turner at boundary cornerback, and Mike Hilton at nickel cornerback. Cincinnati's depth at cornerback isn't exactly ideal now that the organization chose to move on from Chidobe Awuzie. Pittsburgh cornerback M.J. Devonshire is a sixth round prospect that provides fantastic value in a depth role at dime cornerback.
The 5-11 186 lb M.J. Devonshire had 10 solo tackles, 8 assisted tackles, 18 total tackles, 4 deflections from pass breakups, 1 tackle for a loss, and 1 interception as the Pittsburgh Panthers nickel cornerback as a sophomore redshirt on the eventual ACC Conference Champions in 2021. M.J. Devonshire got promoted to boundary cornerback as a number two corner the following season posting 23 solo tackles, 11 assisted tackles, 34 total tackles, 8 deflections from pass breakups, 3 interceptions, 1 quarterback hurry, and 1 punt return for a touchdown as a junior redshirt in 2022. M.J. Devonshire got promoted to field cornerback and became Pittsburgh's number one cornerback posting 18 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, 32 total tackles, 10 deflections from pass breakups, 4 interceptions, 1 tackle for a loss, and 1 defensive touchdown on a pick 6 in 2023.
I watched M.J. Devonshire against Wake Forest and I gave him an A+ in man coverage, a C- in zone coverage, and a B grade in press coverage. Cincinnati's cornerbacks mainly play man coverage from what I've seen. Cam Taylor-Britt is a man press cornerback and D.J. Turner ran the fastest 40-yard dash. M.J. Devonshire can develop for a year before potentially moving inside to nickel if Cincinnati opts to move on from Mike Hilton after his contract expires.
The Pittsburgh Steelers added Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. That won't keep them from drafting a long-term project at third string quarterback even if that rookie begins the year on the practice squad. Western Kentucky quarterback Austin Reed is the best quarterback on the board at this point in the sixth round.
Austin Reed had 4,089 passing yards, 40 passing touchdowns, 6 rushing touchdowns, and 46 total touchdowns as a true freshman on West Florida while leading West Florida to a Division 2 Championship in 2019. After Bailey Zappe graduated, Austin Reed transferred to Western Kentucky.
The 6-1 220 lb had 4,744 passing yards, 40 passing touchdowns, 224 rushing yards, 8 rushing touchdowns, 4,966 total yards, 55 total touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 64.6% completion percentage in his first year as Western Kentucky's starter in 2022. Austin Reed was also the 2022 New Orleans Bowl MVP.
Austin Reed had 3,340 passing yards, 31 passing touchdowns, 100 rushing yards, 4 rushing touchdowns, 3,440 total yards, 35 total touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 61.5% completion percentage in 2023. Austin Reed only knows one scheme, the shotgun spread offense. He can develop into a viable backup since he was a winner in Division 2 and the FBS during his time playing College Football.
Ernest Jones is okay. I wasn't high on him coming out of the 2021 NFL Draft, but he's done well on the Los Angeles Rams. I feel like Nathaniel Watson might be able to become a day 1 starter on the Los Angeles Rams due to the fact that three of the Rams four inside linebackers are Undrafted Free Agents.
The 6-2 244 lb Nathaniel Watson had 35 solo tackles, 102 assisted tackles, 137 total tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, 7 quarterback hurries, 2 deflections from pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 interception in 2023. Nathaniel Watson also lined up at nickel cornerback making a third down stop due to his coverage ability in both man coverage and zone coverage during the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl.
Atlanta gave Kirk Cousins a four year contract and retained backup Taylor Heinicke. Atlanta can draft a rookie quarterback in the late rounds and take a long-term approach to developing him.
The 6-3 218 lb Carter Bradley is the son of Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Gus Bradley. I believe someone will take him in the sixth or seventh round.
Carter Bradley had 2,660 passing yards, 19 passing touchdowns, 1 rushing touchdown, 20 total touchdowns, 7 interceptions, and a 67.8% completion percentage in 11 games in 2023. Carter Bradley could be a long-term backup, but he also might start out on the practice squad in a similar spot as Austin Reed.
Miami gets a left tackle for depth behind Terron Armstead who cannot stay healthy. Kansas State left tackle KT Leveston might be a nice fit here.
The 6-4 326 lb KT Leveston had 32 career starts at left tackle. KT Leveston has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength you want in an NFL left tackle, but there's also the possibility Kansas State's left tackle moves inside to guard in the NFL.
New Orleans has to draft another left tackle for depth if they draft a right tackle to replace Ryan Ramczyk in the first round. Trevor Penning has been benched multiple times in his first two seasons.
The 6-6 312 lb Julian Pearl has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength you want from a left tackle. He could be a good left tackle behind Trevor Penning in New Orleans.
Buffalo uses this 2024 sixth round pick from Dallas to draft a second safety for depth. Taylor Rapp is the starting strong safety. Mike Edwards and Utah safety Cole Bishop will compete for the free safety job with the loser being the number three safety. Damar Hamilin will remain the number four safety, but he will be competing with Jaylon Carlies for the right to be Taylor Rapp's backup. Jaylon Carlies has the upside to come in relief for Taylor Rapp and be an effective backup potentially develop into a spot starter on the Buffalo Bills.
The 6-3 227 lb Jaylon Carlies had 60 solo tackles, 21 assisted tackles, 81 total tackles, 4 deflections from pass breakups, 4 tackles for a loss, 3 interceptions, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble in 2022. Jaylon Carlies had 38 solo tackles, 26 assisted tackles, 64 total tackles, 5 deflections from pass breakups, 2 sacks, 2 quarterback hurries, 2 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble in 2023.
Jaylon Carlies is versatile enough to play both strong safety and free safety in the NFL. Jaylon Carlies did a good job limiting Cade Stover as I gave Jaylon Carlies a B in man coverage, a B+ in zone coverage, and a B- in press coverage. He's a good player that should be able to play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 scheme. He's not dominant in any category, but just an all around effective safety. Jaylon Carlies ran a 4.51 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine.
Detroit has DJ Reader and Alim McNeil expected to start at 4-3 defensive tackle. Detroit also has Tyson Alualu and Levi Onwuzurike for depth. Detroit will probably draft another 4-3 defensive tackle if the value is there. Northern Iowa defensive tackle Khristian Boyd might be in play at this point.
The 6-4 317 lb Khristian Boyd had 17 solo tackles, 26 assisted tackles, 43 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, 1 quarterback hurry, and 1 deflection from a pass breakup in 2023. Khristian Boyd was one of the standout players at the 2024 East West Shrine Bowl despite not getting an invite to the 2024 NFL Combine.
Green Bay needs depth behind Josh Myers at center with Myers in a contract year. Oklahoma center Andrwe Raym is a player that impressed me on film.
The 6-4 315 lb Andrew Raym has the pass blocking, run blocking pass blocking footwork, pass blocking strength, run blocking footwork, and run blocking strength to be a future starter at center and at the very worst he's a reliable backup to have if you cannot draft a center in the early rounds.
I posted a film cut of Oklahoma's offensive line VS Texas. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
Denver traded this pick to the New York Jets in the Zach Wilson trade. New York drafts a running back for depth here.
The 5-9 217 lb Marshawn Lloyd had 116 caries, 820 rushing yards, 9 rushing touchdowns, 13 receptions, 232 receiving yards, 0 receiving touchdowns, 129 touches, 1,052 total yards, and 9 total touchdowns in 2023. Marshawn Lloyd can be a decent backup running back on an NFL depth chart, but don't expect him to become the NFL starter the mainstream media is hyping him up to be since Marshawn Lloyd's only two games where he exceeded 100 rushing yards came against Arizona State and California. Marshawn Lloyd particpated in the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl before running a 4.46 40-yard dash and doing 25 reps on the bench press at the 2024 NFL Combine.
Buffalo has Dion Dawkins at left tackle, David Edwards at left guard, Connor McGovern moving from left guard to center, O'Cyrus Torrence at right guard, and Spencer Brown at right tackle. I like Will Clapp as the backup center and La'El Collins as the swing tackle, but nothing else impresses me about the depth of this Buffalo Bills offensive line if injuries occur in 2024 after Buffalo had the healthiest offensive line in 2023. I'm giving Buffalo a backup guard that can hopefully develop into a swing guard for the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round.
The 6-3 311 lb Layden Robinson was the right guard on Texas A&M. He did alright as a run blocker for De'Von Achane in 2022, but his hand placement and footwork is very inconsistent. I believe Robinson is nothing more than a backup right guard that could develop into a swing guard, but that's what Buffalo needs in terms of depth on the offensive line.
Detroit has Alex Anzalone at right outside linebacker in their 4-2-5 defense with Derrick Barnes starting at middle linebacker. Detroit has Jalen Reeves-Maybin as the backup right outside linebacker and Jack Campbell as the backup middle linebacker. Malcolm Rodriguez is the only third string linebacker at the moment, but I'm drafting one more outside linebacker to compete for a roster spot here in the sixth round. Steele Chambers out of Ohio State is my top outside linebacker on my board, but I'm not even sure he would make Detroit's opening day roster given how stacked the Detroit Lions are. I don't do trades in mock drafts though, so that's my pick here.
The 6-1 226 lb Steele Chambers had 41 solo tackles, 42 assisted tackles, 83 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, 1 quarterback hurry, 1 deflection from a pass breakup and 1 interception in 2023. Steele Chambers had 10 total tackles against Michigan despite Ohio State's defense playing sloppy against the eventual national champions in College Football this past season.
Cleveland can bring another pass rusher in to push Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and Alex Wright for a backup roster spot. One guy who may have more upside than both despite being somewhat raw is Ole Miss defensive end Cedric Johnson.
The 6-3 268 lb Cedric Johnson had 17 solo tackles, 23 assisted tackles, 40 total tackles, 12 quarterback hurries, 6.5 tackles for a loss, 5.5 sacks, 3 deflections from pass breakups, and 1 forced fumble in 2023. Cedric Johnson did well against Alabama's left tackle and right guard despite losing one-on-ones to JC Latham when lining up against Alabama's right tackle. Cedric Johnson can line up at both 4-3 right end and 4-3 left end with his versatility.
Denver gets a wide receiver for depth. Denver has Courtland Sutton at flanker wide receiver, Tim Patrick a former slot receiver as the secondary wide receiver, and Marvin Mims Jr. as the slot receiver. I mocked Xavier Weaver at the top of the fifth round, but will mock a second wide receiver here. Texas A&M wide receiver Ainas Smith is a steady wide receiver that may warrant a flyer here.
The 5-9 191 lb Ainis Smith had 53 receptions, 795 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns in 2023. Ainis Smith has been on my radar for a few years since he broke out as a true freshman at Texas A&M and will make a nice depth player in Denver.
Las Vegas uses this pick from the Kansas City Chiefs to add another pass rusher for depth behind Malcolm Koonce at 4-3 right end and Maxx Crosby at 4-3 left end. Khalid Duke out of Kansas State has impressive tape.
The 6-3 246 lb Khalid Duke had 14 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles, 19 total tackles, 8 tackles for a loss, 6 sacks, 2 quarterback hurries, and 1 forced fumble after taking over for first round pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah in 2023. Khalid Duke has the versatility to play 4-3 right end, 4-3 left end, 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, 3-4 right outside linebacker, and 3-4 left outside linebacker with his versatility. Khalid Duke can be both a siutational edge rusher or a situational linebacker for depth. I'm guessing Duke would play defensive end since he's better at rushing the quarterback than covering despite his size.
Los Angeles got this compensation pick at 209 thanks to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signing a contract with quarterback Baker Mayfield during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Cleveland didn't get a compensation pick for trading Baker Mayfield to Carolina and when Baker Mayfield requested a release from Carolina, he signed a contract with the Los Angeles Rams when Matthew Stafford was injured.
Los Angeles has Darious Williams and Tre'Davious White two Free Agents they signed as the top two cornerbacks on the depth chart. Quentin Lake a former safety at UCLA is the nickel cornerback at the moment even though I believe Decobie Durant the current dime cornerback supplants Lake as the nickel cornerback before the season. One more cornerback for depth is needed though.
The 6-2 202 lb Ja'Quan Sheppard had 28 solo tackles, 3 assisted tackles, 31 total tackles, 8 deflections from pass breakups, 3 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack in 2023. I think Ja'Quan Sheppard is just as effective as Deonte Banks was in man coverage without the recovery speed that Deonte Banks possessed coming out of Maryland which made Banks a first round pick. Sheppards zone coverage and press coverage need work, but he can play cover 0, cover 1, or cover 2 if Sheppard is asked to play man coverage.
Philadelphia got this compensation pick at 210 thanks to their middle linebacker T.J. Edwards signing with the Chicago Bears during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. T.J. Edwards moved to 4-3 right outside linebacker upon receiving his payday with the Chicago Bears.
Philadelphia gets a big body wide receiver that's an incredible blocker. The biggest reason nobody has talked about this guy is because this wide receiver is an under the radar player, but this is also my Favorite Division 2 wide receiver in quite some time and people forget Tyreek Hill went to West Alabama before he became a big time star wide receiver in the NFL. I'm talking about Kyle Sheets a wide receiver from my alma matter Slippery Rock.
The 6-4 220 lb Kyle Sheets had 76 receptions, 1,186 receiving yards, and 17 receiving touchdowns in 2023. Kyle Sheets ran at least 7 different routes from what I watched and I might be underselling how effective Sheets was as a route runner. He's also an incredible blocking wide receiver as he was consistently knocking cornerbacks on their asses like a bounty hunter on running plays which led to Slippery Rock getting touchdowns.
There's only one Slippery Rock full game I saw plays from and it was against Tiffin, but I was blown away from what I saw from Kyle Sheets. If this guy goes undrafted he's gonna end up on an NFL team potentially seeing NFL playing time on special teams or in at wide receiver situationally because Kyle Sheets reminds me so much of former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Vince Papale except this guy is coming straight out of College. I also see flashes of other wide receivers like Wes Welker, Joe Jurevicius, Wayne Cherbert, and Julian Edelman, but if I'm gonna make a player comp for Kyle Sheets my player comp would be Vince Papale since I think Sheets is an underdog trying to get drafted onto an NFL roster.
San Francisco got this compensation pick at 211 thanks to the Kansas City Chiefs signing a contract with defensive end Charles Omenihu during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Charles Omenihu signed with the team that ended up keeping his former team from winning Super Bowl 58 and now Charles Omenihu gets a Super Bowl ring to go with the contract he signed in Kansas City.
San Francisco gets a center for depth behind Jake Brendel. Hunter Nourzad is one of the better centers in college football in this years 2024 NFL Draft.
The 6-3 317 lb Hunter Nourzad has the pass blocking, run blocking, pass blocking footwork, and run blocking footwork. He's got to get stronger, but has ability to develop into a successor to Jake Brendel.
I posted a film cut of Penn State's offensive line VS Ohio State. You can watch that film cut in the clip below.
Jacksonville got this compensation pick at 212 thanks to their backup 3-4 right outside linebacker Arden Key signing with the Tennessee Titans during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Arden Key came in and took the starting 3-4 right outside linebacker job on the Tennessse Titans last year and now Key enters his second season with the Tennessee Titans.
Jacksonville has Darnell Savage at strong safety and Andre Cisco at free safety. Andrew Wingard is the backup free safety and Daniel Thomas is the backup strong safety. I feel like Jacksonville may bring in one more safety for depth to push Daniel Thomas for a roster spot now that the Jacksonville Jaguars moved Antonio Johnson to nickel cornerback for good.
The 6-0 210 lb Kenny Logan Jr. had 64 solo tackles, 31 assisted tackles, 95 total tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, 6 deflections from pass breakups, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 1 defensive touchdown on his only interception of the year in 2023. Kenny Logan Jr. was probably the most consistent safety when it came to tackling. His technique is pretty good, but its not perfect as he did have 5 missed tackles on film this past season as well. Kenny Logan Jr. was more of a tackling safety than a coverage safety, but he was consistent enough on film to get drafted from what I saw.
Los Angeles got this compensation pick at 213 thanks to the Indianapolis Colts signing a contract with kicker Matt Gay during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Matt Gay joined his third NFL team last offseason after originally getting drafted by Tampa Bay in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Utah.
Los Angeles might draft a running back for depth behind Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers at some point in the late rounds if the value is there. Monmouth running back Jayden Shirden is my top running back on the board even though Frank Gore Jr., Rasheen Ali, and Dylan Laube also warrant consideration for being picked at this point in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
The 5-8 187 lb Jayden Shirden had 206 carries, 1,722 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, 2 receptions, 27 receiving yards, 0 receiving touchdowns, 208 touches, 1,749 total yards, and 13 total touchdowns in 2022. Jayden Shirden had 221 carries, 1,478 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, 20 receptions, 123 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdowns, 241 touches, 1,601 total yards, and 11 total toucdhowns in 2023.
Jayden Shirden did well with his speed, pass catching, ball carrier vision, and went 1/1 against William & Mary in pass blocking. Jayden Shirden also participated in the 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl and ran a 4.45 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine.
Cincinnati got this compensation pick at 214 thanks to tight end Hayden Hurst signing with the Carolina Panthers during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Hayden Hurst got overdrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft as he was the Baltimore Ravens very first draft pick that year. Baltimore took Lamar Jackson, Orlando Brown Jr. whose now the Cincinnati Bengals left tackle, and Mark Andrews all after drafting Hayden Hurst in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Cincinnati drafts another left tackle to push backup left tackle Jackson Carman, Cincinnati's underwhelming 2021 second round pick out of Clemson for a roster spot because Carman is in the final year of his rookie deal. Tyler Grable could be in play here.
The 6-6 306 lb Tyler Grable has the pass blocking, pass blocking footwork, and pass blocking strength you want from a left tackle. Tyler Grable gave John Rhyss Plumlee a clean pocket on some plays at Central Florida and that opened things up for wide receiver Javon Baker. I feel like Tyler Grable has to develop somewhat as a run blocker and a zone blocker though.
Tyler Grable ran a 4.95 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. Tyler Grable feels like a great value pick at the end of the sixth round even though the Cincinnati Bengals have somewhat of a stable situation at offensive tackle.
San Francisco got this compensation pick at 215 thanks to the Tennessee Titans signing a contract with middle linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Samson Ekubam came into San Francisco and showed he could be a viable starter at 4-3 left end and has continued that success in Indianapolis entering his second season as the starting 4-3 left end on the Indianapolis Colts.
San Francisco has Christian McCaffrey as their starting running back and Elijah Mitchell, the San Francisco 49ers 2021 sixth round pick in the final year of his rookie contract as their backup running back. San Francisco signed Patrick Taylor Jr. from Green Bay to challenge Jordan Mason for the third string running back job.
San Francisco doesn't need a running back. At the same time, I cannot see San Francisco passing on Frank Gore Jr. the son of former San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore when every running back outside of Christian McCaffrey is in a contract year. Even if Frank Gore Jr. was on the pracice squad his rookie season, there's a good chance he would be Christian McCaffrey's backup in year two since Brock Purdy will be entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2025 and San Francisco would likely have to re-sign Brock Purdy at that point even if it meant trading or cutting some star players to save cap space.
The 5-8 201 lb Frank Gore Jr. had 228 carries, 1,382 rushing yards, 19 receptions, 219 receiving yards, 247 touches, 1,501 total yards, and 9 rushing touchdowns in 2022. Frank Gore Jr. had 231 carries, 1,131 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, 27 receptions, 221 receiving yards, 3 receiving touchdowns, 258 touches, 1,352 total yards, and 13 total touchdowns in 2023.
Frank Gore Jr. is money in bowl games as Frank Gore Jr. was the MVP of the 2022 Lendingtree Bowl after Frank Gore Jr. had 326 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns on 21 carries against Rice. Frank Gore Jr. was also the MVP of the 2024 East West Shrine Bowl game.
Frank Gore Jr. isn't the bruiser his father is. However, he's better in pass protection than his dad was at his age. Frank Gore Jr. has the speed, pass catching, ball carrier vision, and pass blocking you want from an NFL running back.
Dallas got this compensation pick at 216 thanks to their 2018 fourth round pick Dalton Schultz signing with the Houston Texans during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Dalton Schultz got extended after his first season with the Houston Texans.
Dallas has Trevon Diggs at field cornerback, DaRon Bland at boundary cornerback, Jourdan Lewis at nickel cornerback, Eric Scott Jr. and Nashon Wright are competing to be the number four cornerback at dime corner. This means Dallas may draft a sixth cornerback to compete for the quarter cornerback job to solidify their cornerback depth if any injuries occur like the one that occurred to Trevon Diggs last year.
The 6-0 189 lb Tarheeb Still had 31 solo tackles, 14 assisted tackles, 45 total tackles, 5 interceptions, 2 deflections from pass breakups, 2 tackles for a loss, 2 punt returns on special teams, and 1 kick return on special teams in 2023.
I gave Tarheeb Still an A grade in man coverage, a C grade in zone coverage, and an A- in press coverage. He might be better than his teammate Ja'Quan Sheppard and he would have had a 99 yard pick 6 against Michigan State if he didn't trip on the interception he got. I can look past Tarheeb Still's 4.52 40-yard dash since he's got enough talent to start out as a serviceable backup cornerback in the NFL.
Los Angeles got this compensation pick at 217 thanks to the New York Giants signing a contract with defensive tackle/3-4 defensive end A'Shawn Robinson during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. A'Shawn Robison signed a three year contract with the Carolina Panthers in this years Free Agency period and is currently projected to start at 3-4 left end in Carolina.
I don't believe I've given the Rams a 3-4 defensive end following the retirement of Aaron Donald. Justin Eboigbe might be a good value pick here at 217.
The 6-4 292 lb Justin Eboigbe had 29 solo tackles, 35 assisted tackles, 64 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, 7 sacks, 4 quarterback hurries, and 1 deflection from a pass breakup in 2023. Justin Eboigbe has the versatility to play both 3-4 right end and 3-4 left end. He's also my final defensive tackle with a sixth round grade.
New York got this compensation pick at 218 thanks to their 2018 third round pick Nathan Shepherd signing with the New Orleans Saints during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. New York traded this pick to Baltimore in the trade that sent Morgan Moses back to the New York Jets.
Baltimore used Brandon Stephens at field cornerback, Marlon Humphrey at boundary cornerback, and Arthur Mallett at nickel cornerback when dominating last year. Right now Baltimore's backup cornerbacks are Ar'Darius Washington, Jalyn Armour-Davis, and Damarion Williams who played nickel cornerback as a rookie. Baltimore has a lot of depth at cornerback, but the Baltimore Ravens may just add one more guy to their cornerback room at 218.
The 5-11 195 lb Myles Harden had 31 solo tackles, 27 assisted tackles, 58 total tackles, 7 deflections from pass breakups, 4 tackles for a loss, and 1 fumble recovery in 2023. Myles Harden was also a team captain on South Dakota as this hard hitting corner has a chance to be a gem in day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft if he goes to the right team.
Green Bay got this compensation pick at 219 thanks to 3-4 defensive end Jarran Reed signing with Seattle Seahawks during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Jarran Reed returned to the team that drafted him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Alabama.
Green Bay has Christian Watkins at flanker wide receiver, Romeo Doubs as their secondary wide receiver, Jayden Reed at slot receiver, and Dontayvion Wicks as their number four wide receiver. Outside of those four the other five guys feel like guys competing for roster spots. Michigan wide receiver Corneillius Johnson provides great value here and would be the number five wide receiver on a stacked Green Bay team. There's also the possibility that Cornellius Johnson could develop into a top three wide receiver on this team by the time Romeo Doubs rookie contract is up allowing Green Bay to continue to reload at wide receiver.
The 6-3 212 lb Cornellius Johnson had 40 receptions, a career high 627 receiving yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns in 2021. Cornellius Johnson had 32 receptions, 499 receiving yards, and a career high 6 receiving touchdowns in 2022. Cornellius Johnson had 47 receptions, 604 receiving yards, and 1 receiving touchdown on Michigan's 15-0 team as a senior in 2023.
Cornellius Johnson ran a 4.42 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. There is a possibility Cornellius Johnson goes higher than this since Wes Langley told me about his impact on Michigan back when the Michigan Wolverines defeated Ohio State for the first time in a decade back in 2021.
Tampa Bay got this compensation pick at 220 thanks to their 2019 second round pick Sean Bunting-Murphy, a former Central Michigan cornerback signing a contract with the Tennessee Titans during the 2023 NFL Free Agency Period. Sean Bunting-Murphy signed a one year contract with the Arizona Cardinals this offseason.
Tampa Bay has Rachaad White as their starting running back, Chase Edmonds as the backup running back, and Sean Tucker the undrafted running back from Syracuse in the 2023 NFL Draft as their third string running back. Tampa Bay has one of the steadier running back rooms, but not a true established bellcow. White showed promise as a rookie, but it felt like he didn't do enough to build on that momentum in year two. With all of the sixth round guards gone, that leaves running back depth as the best value pick with both Marshall running back Rasheen Ali and Hampshire running back Dylan Laube still on the board in the sixth round.
The 5-11 204 lb Rasheen Ali had 250 carries, 1,401 rushing yards, 23 rushing touchdowns, 46 receptions, 342 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 296 touches, 1,743 total yards, and 24 total touchdowns as a freshman redshirt in 2021. Rasheen Ali had 47 carries, 273 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown, 2 receptions, 10 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 49 touches, 283 total yards, and 2 total touchdowns before a season ending injury as a sophomore redshirt in 2022.
Rasheen Ali had 212 carries, 1,135 rushing yards, 15 rushing touchdowns, 28 receptions, 213 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 240 touches, 1,348 total yards, and 16 total touchdowns as a junior redshirt in 2023. Rasheen Ali has the speed, pass catching, and ball carrier vision to be an NFL running back. His pass blocking improved as well even though it's not on par with the top pass blocking running backs in this draft, that's still a very encouraging sign after Rasheen Ali didn't run the 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine.
