Mark Sciubba's 2019 NFL Mock Draft: 7 Rounds

Round 5

Mark Sciubba follow @MarkSciubbaDoe Last Updated: April 23, 2019.

  1. Arizona Cardinals: Renell Wren, DL, Arizona State

Cardinals stay local and get a disruptive interior lineman. Wren impressed at the 2019 NFL Combine.

  2. Oakland Raiders: David Long Jr., LB, West Virginia

Oakland gets another linebacker. David Long Jr. is a 4-3 right outside linebacker that can provide some depth and stability behind Tahir Whitehead.

  3. Pittsburgh Steelers: Darrell Henderson, RB, Memphis

Steelers get a steal in Henderson. A RB who seems to have home run speed, great vision, and some power to him. He just needs to proves that he can continue to play that way against higher level talent.

  4. New York Giants: Sheldrick Redwine, S, Miami FL

The Giants get an underrated versatile DB who can play S and CB. This is a great value pick to begin the fifth round.

  5. New York Giants: Alex Bars, G, Notre Dame

The Giants offensive line is still a huge mess. It needs to be as strong as possible of Saquan is gonna be your whole offense.

  6. Cleveland Browns: Jamell Garcia-Williams, EDGE, UAB

Williams checks a lot of boxes. He's huge from a height and length perspective with a frame that could hold some more muscle well. He was dominant at setting the edge for UAB as they ressurected the program. Browns take a very high upside prospect here.

  7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Tre Watson, LB, Maryland

Watson led the Big 10 in tackles last year and could step in and possibly start as Bucs revamp their defense. This pick would especially be good if Bucs don't get Devin White the player they really want at 5.

  8. Detroit Lions: Tommy Sweeney, TE, Boston College

Detroit gets a Tight End to pair with free agent signee Jesse James. Tommy Sweeney aced the Gauntlet drill at the 2019 NFL Combine despite his slow 40-time so he could be a serviceable complimentary tight end somewhere.

  9. Buffalo Bills: Michael Jordan, C/G, Ohio State

The Bills get a versatile lineman to add in the open competition across their entire offensive line. Michael Jordan can play everywhere on the offensive line, but he will have the most success on the interior.

  10. Denver Broncos: Jahlani Tavai, LB, Hawaii

Tavai is the guy NFL teams hoped other ones didn't know about. An ultra talented LB who could have been a big time prospect if it wasn't for injury.

  11. Cincinnati Bengals: Deshaun Davis, LB, Auburn

Davis is a tackling machine who can contribute on special teams. He also gives Cincinnati depth at linebacker.

  12. Green Bay Packers: Mike Weber, RB, Ohio State

The Packers have a great back in Aaron Jones but they need to add some insurance at the position if they're looking to make a super bowl run. Mike Weber was a backup running back at Ohio State, and that's what his role will be with Green Bay.

  13. Miami Dolphins: Bennie Snell Jr., RB, Kentucky

Miami gets a potential RB of the future and further builds the offense up for when they draft a first round QB. Best case scenario, they hit on this pick like when they hit on Jay Ajayi coming out of Boise State.

  14. Atlanta Falcons: Charles Omenihu, EDGE, Texas

Atlanta's defense is solid in the secondary, but that's about it. Omenihu can be special with the right development.

  15. Washington Redskins: Malik Gant, S, Marshall

Gant is the late riser of this year's class. He has fantastic tape and when scouts realized the athleticism matched the buzz about Gant has skyrocketed.

  16. Carolina Panthers: Hjalte Froholdt, G, Arkansas

The Panthers have had a bad offensive line for too long. Cam could bail them out but now that he's older and is coming off an injury Panther's management needs to build a real line for him. The Arkansas guard is one of the most polarizing players in the class. He's a big, tough, rock solid pass protector who I think can be a great pro.

  17. Cleveland Browns: Myles Gaskin, RB, Washington

Cleveland gets a running back for depth. Even with Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, and Duke Johnson, Gaskin is talented enough to push for a third string roster spot on Cleveland's depth chart.

  18. Denver Broncos: Isaac Nauta, TE, Georgia

Denver gets a steal in Nauta. A player who had 2nd round buzz before a poor combine showing.

  19. Tennessee Titans: Carl Granderson, EDGE, Wyoming

Tennessee gets a pass rusher for depth. Carl Granderson provides tremendous value in the fifth round.

  20. Buffalo Bills: Josiah Tauaefa, LB, UTSA

Bills are the type of team who will be looking for solid depth and special team contributors on day 3. They get both of those things in Taueafa.

  21. Seattle Seahawks: Amani Hooker, S, Iowa

The Seahawks get a steal in Hooker. In this situation he could be starting at safety right away.

  22. Baltimore Ravens: Jamal Davis, LB, Akron

The Ravens get a speed LB to go with all the power rushers they've drafted.

  23. Houston Texans: Christian Miller, EDGE, Alabama

Houston would be dumb to let Clowney out of town. They should maximize the talent playing across from him. Miller is a classic BAMA defender who's ready physically and is rock solid with his technique.

  24. Chicago Bears: Daylon Mack, DL, Texas A&M

The Bears gets some depth on the DL. Mack can play NT or DE for them both are important to get the most out of their elite LB core.

  25. Philadelphia Eagles: Emmanuel Hall, WR, Missouri

The Eagles have a murky future at WR. Hall will help bring some stability to the unit for years to come.

  26. Indianapolis Colts: Juwan Young, LB, Marshall

Indy gets a thumper with some athletic upside to give depth at LB. Juwan Young is a great addition for Indianapolis for a team that needs depth on the front 7.

  27. Dallas Cowboys: Ryan Finley, QB, North Carolina State

Finely is the classic back up QB who people will call a game manager. I think he's a guy who throws too many hospital balls, but can probably win a game or two at the next level.

  28. Los Angeles Chargers: Clayton Thorson, QB, Northwestern

Thorson could be the steal of the draft. He has the Big arm and toughness of a franchise QB. He just had little to work with at Northwestern. I wouldn't be shocked to see his name come up as a possible day 2 pick as we get closer to the draft.

  29. Kansas City Chiefs: Dakota Allen, LB, Texas Tech

The Chiefs take the best defensive player available. Something that should be their strategy for a big portion of the draft.

  30. New Orleans Saints: L.J. Scott, RB, Michigan State

The Saints get their Marc Ingram type back to compliment Kamara. L.J. Scott is a better pass catcher then Ingram was coming out of College which is another plus.

  31. Los Angeles Rams: Penny Hart, WR, Georgia State

Penny Hart has the speed and work ethic to be a playmaker in the right offense. Hart may not start right away with the Rams, but if he earns playing time he won't relinquish his role within the organization.

  32. Cleveland Browns: Iman Marshall, CB, USC

Cleveland takes Marshall late hoping he can develop into a lock down receiver. He's also a cornerback who could start next to Denzel Ward right away.

  33. New York Giants: Will Harris, S, Boston College

The Giants get another piece for their defense. They have to find someone in the late rounds, and pray they can replace Landon Collins.

  34. Atlanta Falcons: Karon Higdon, RB, Michigan

Higdon is a productive RB who i think can start or be a key backup year one in the NFL. If he goes to the Falcons he'll most likely be a number 2 RB doing what Tevin Coleman did.

  35. Washington Redskins: Terry McLaughlin, WR, Ohio State

McLaurin would be too good to pass up here. Washington adds another weapon to bolster their passing game to wrap up the fifth round.
