New Orleans Saints: Brandin Cooks, WR, Oregon State

New Orleans Saints Day 1 Draft Grade: (A+) Brandon Cooks broke PAC 12 records with 128 receptions, 1,730 receiving yards, and 16 receiving touchdowns. The 5-foot-10 and 186-pound wide receiver is an undersized wideout with effective route running for a junior.

Cooks will be a slot receiver in New Orleans with Colston as the flanker, Jimmy Graham as the tight end, and Kenny Stills as the X receiver complimenting Colson as a secondary target. Cooks will do wonders as a slot receiver. Especially when his quarterback is Drew Brees. This is the best situation Brandon Cooks could have hoped for.

New Orleans Saints Day 2 Draft Grade: (A) Keenan Lewis will be the field cornerback. Champ Bailey will move from a field role to a boundary role due to his age. Now you brought in Stanley Jean-Baptiste as a nickel corner, who looks like the successor to Champ Bailey. Looks like New Orleans was 2 for 2 with both of their first and second round draft choices.

New Orleans Saints Day 3 Draft Grade: (C) I gave the Saints a C grade because I liked the Sunseri and Powell picks. Sunseri has a chance to be a backup safety for depth in New Orleans. I also like the Ronald Powell pick because he, like Jadeveon Clowney, was the top recruit in his high school class. Powell won MVP honors at U.S. Army All American game that high school athletes compete in before college. Powell would be a first-round pick if it wasn’t for his history with injuries. Being a fourth string pass-rusher on the Saints’ depth chart may motivate Powell to compete in rookie minicamps, OTA’s, and training camp.
