New York Jets: Calvin Pryor, S, Louisville

New York Jets Day 1 Draft Grade: (F) The Jets plan on starting Calvin Pryor at strong safety instead of the free safety position he played at Louisville. I also dislike the fact that he slapped a baby on draft day. I don’t care if he was gently placing the palm of his hand on the baby girl. The fact that it looked like he slapped a baby pisses me off. I hope Pryor busts and I’m certain he will since the Jets took him over HaHa Clinton-Dix.

New York Jets Day 2 Draft Grade: (A) I loved the Jace Amaro pick because he has the size of Heath Miller and runs routes like Wes Welker. Apparently, the Jets’ don’t have those feelings for him. Instead the Jets’ coaching staff believes Amaro needs to be friend zoned by making him a backup. Dex McDougle could be a solid nickel corner, but at the same time, he may struggle. Nobody had McDougle getting drafted, yet Mel Kiper Jr. and Todd McShay were in agreement on this player being a solid pick at CB in the third-round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

New York Jets Day 3 Draft Grade: (D) I felt like being generous after handing the Jets two F grades. Jalen Saunders and Shaq Evans will be good rookie backups along with veteran David Nelson. New York has Erik Decker, Jeremy Kerley, and Stephen Hill in the slot after his struggles the past two seasons. Dakota Dozier is listed as a third string left tackle, but he played left guard at Furman. Everyone else drafted in rounds 5-7 has a good chance of being cut from the roster. Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd will be fun to watch this pre-season. I want to see him beat out Matt Simms for the third-string job.

Outside of Boyd, Reilly has the best chance to make the roster among the round 5 through 7 draft picks because he reminds me a little of Paul Kruger a former Utah pass-rusher that Rex Ryan developed when he was a defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens. Jerimiah George lacks the speed to start at middle linebacker. Baylor running back Lache Seastrunk outran George in the photo you saw. Brandon Dixon could be a solid corner if you lined him as a dime corner to focus solely on getting interceptions when you called dime and quarter plays because he cannot cover to save face. Enuwa and Enemkpali are likely going to get cut from the Jets in training camp.
