Tennessee Titans 2014 NFL Draft Grades
Posted By Chris Ransom

Tennessee Titans: Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan
Tennessee Titans Day 1 Draft Grade: (A) Tennessee displays one of the NFLs top offensive lines with Michael Roos at left tackle, Andy Levitre at left guard, Brian Schwnkee at center, Chance Warmack, and Michael Ohe at right tackle. Roos is in a contract year. Lewan can work on correcting his character issues off-the-field from last season by studying this offensive line. If Roos is not retained, then Lewan will become Jake Lockers new blindside in 2015 if the Titans have to cut Roos for cap reasons.

Tennessee Titans Day 2 Draft Grade: (A) I love this pick. Bishop Sankey was my favorite running back in the entire 2014 NFL Draft. I had him going 35th to Cleveland in my 2014 NFL Mock Draft. Sankey was the top running back available so this was a good pick by the Titans.
Tennessee Titans Day 3 Draft Grade: (A) DaQuan Jones and Marqueston Huff are two guys that can start right away. Marqueston should have no problems replacing Michael Huff as a rookie. I think he has the best chance of being a day 3 steal even though the Titans drafted DaQuan Jones before him.
Jones was a 4-3 defensive tackle that succeeded Devon Still at Penn State. He has the size you look for in a 6-foot-2 and 317-pound big boy in the trenches. He also comprehends the principles pass-rushing and run-stuffing with rip and swim moves.
When you watch his tape you see a natural 2-technique or 3-technique 4-3 defensive tackle that can get by the inside or the outside of a guard. This guy has to expand his game by learning the zero technique. This kid has some basic understanding of the 1-technique because he probably had to do positional drills where he lined on the left or the right side of the center where he blitzed the center on the outside. Zero technique involves a 3-4 nose tackle clashing with a center directly. Jones has no experience in a 3-4 defense so this pick could work out or completely backfire.
Kentucky middle linebacker Avery Williams probably wont make the Titans final roster. He should apply to be an assistant coach for John Calipari at Kentucky assuming Calipari has a spot available for Williams.
Zach Mettenberger has the tape to play in any type of offense. West coast, vertical, balanced, or shotgun spread. He learns how to adapt to the game real quick. Mettenberger has the potential to become the starter if Jake Locker gets injured or begins the season poorly. Thing is he wont live up to the hype unless he beats out Charlie Whitehurst to win the backup job during the Tennessee Titans training camp.
