Los Angeles addresses the offensive line. Northern Iowa left tackle Trevor Penning lined up at both left tackle ant righ tackle. Drafting Trevor Penning as a bookend right tackle gives Justin Herbert Rashawn Slater at left tackle and Trevor Penning at right tackle.
The 6-6 330 lb Trevor Penning dominated the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl. He's got the arm length, hand size, and wingspan you want in a left tackle with experience on both sides of the offensive line. Penning has the pass blocking, pass blocking strength, pass blocking footwork, run blocking, run blocking strength, run blocking footwork, and zone blocking you want a left tackle to possess. Penning beat out current Buffalo Bills starting right tackle Spencer Brown for the left tackle job at Northern Iowa.
Los Angeles would have Rashawn Slater at left tackle, Matt Feiler at left guard, Cory Linsley at center, and Trevor Penning at right tackle. Penning would thrive in this roll and with Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and tight end Gerald Everett replacing Jared Cook Jr., Justin Herbert would have the best offense he's ever had to work with after dominating with a weak supporting cast on the right side of the offensive line for his first two seasons.
I posted a film cut of Northern Iowa left tackle Trevor Penning VS Southern Illinois. Last year Trey Lance was the top FCS prospect, this year that honor belongs to Trevor Penning.
Philadelphia is gonna get an immediate starter at 18. Clemson cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. has the best game film of any cornerback in the 2022 NFL Draft, but he may not play until next season after rumors of his injury were more severe than initially anticipated. Florida cornerback Kaiir Elam has the best foot speed and 40 time of any cornerback plus he kept both Jameson Williams and John Metchie III in check. Washington cornerback Trent McDuffie has the best explosion and jumping ability.
Andrew Booth Jr. would be the pick if it were up to me, but he may be out until 2023. This leaves Florida cornerback Kaiir Elam and Washington cornerback Trent McDuffie whose now an oods on favorite 18 for Philadelphia.
Philadelphia needs a boundary cornerback to compliment field cornerback Darius Slay and nickel cornerback Avonte Maddox. McDuffie is more explosive and better at wrapping up tackles than Kaiir Elam, even though Elam is superior in press coverage.
The 5-11 193 lb Trent McDuffie had 25 solo tackles, 10 assisted tackles, 35 total tackles, 6 deflections from pass breakups, and 1 sack in 2021. Trent McDuffie hasn't given up a single touchdown in his past two seasons as a starting cornerback with Washington.
I gave McDuffie an A- grade in man coverage, an A grade in zone coverage, an C grade in press coverage, an A grade against the run, and an A+ grade for tackling. Trent McDuffie has the football IQ to play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 scheme like Ahmad Gardner and Derek Stingley Jr. He's the best tackler in the draft among the cornerbacks in the 2022 NFL Draft, plus he's more durable than Andrew Booth Jr. which is why he's gained momentum among the consensus as the third cornerback that will be drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft.
I'm mocking Drake London at 19 strictly based on the value he provides at this point. However, there are reports that the Saints love Tulsa left tackle Tyler Smith as Tony Mario of Draft Utopia who emails me frequently told me the Saints love Smith. Jason Bantle of Draft Utopia has reported the same thing and also has Smith at 19. Even though Smith is a day 2 prospect for me, New Orleans may like him enough to draft him at 19. However, the temptation to pair Drake London with Michael Thomas may be too strong for New Orleans to resist.
The 6-3 219 lb Drake London had 33 receptions, 502 receiving yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns in 2020. With Amon-Ra St. Brown gone, Drake London will get a lot of targets with USC in 2021.
Drake London had 88 receptions, 1,084 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns before a torn ACL ended his season. Despite that, he still won PAC 12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2021. On tape against Notre Dame this guy was getting open on every play even on plays where Kedon Slovis failed to go through progressions. Drake London showed up in 2021 and provided the USC Trojans with an infectious presence where he was targeted 9 times or more in every single contest prior to his season ending injury. There were games where this guy was getting 17-21 targets a game on a weekly basis at USC when he was fully healthy.
London is can run 21/30 routes on a route tree and has the best skill set after Garrett Williams in this draft. Only Makai Polk, a wide receiver on Mississippi State and Isaiah Spiller out of Texas A&M are younger.
All three Leo's are 20.7-years old if you want to get technical. Tom Brady, Sidney Crosby, and Evgeni Malkin are the three most iconic Leos to play professionally in 2022, but the best wide receiver of All Time with a Leo zodiac sign is former Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown who was just as heralded as London was when he played at Notre Dame. Brown finished his career seventh All Time in receiving yards sixth among receivers while also being one of nine NFL receivers to score 100 career receiving touchdowns.
Whoever wins the quarterback competition between Jameis Winston, Andy Dalton, and Kenny Pickett. now has Michael Thomas back from injuries and Drake London as his top two targets. He also has last years top three receivers Marquez Callaway, Tre'Quan Smith, and Deonte Harris competing for the slot receiver job. That quarterback also has a two tight end set with Adam Trautman and Taysom Hill giving the eventual starter of New Orleans tons of weapons in the passing game to take pressure off of running back Alvin Kamara whose carried this offense the last few years. A second round pick needs to be spent on a left tackle though.
Back in the Preseason, I mocked Kedon Slovis and Phil Jurkovec to Pittsburgh in my first two mocks before both guys went back to school. With Malik Willis and Kenny Pickett gone, Matt Corral has emerged as the odds on favorite to go to Pittsburgh at 20 since he's got the best chance of beating out Mitchell Trubisky for the quarterback competition as a rookie. That being said, Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder and North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell are in play as well. Ridder told one team in the interview process how he plans to come in and beat out their veteran for the starting job while Howell went 36/40 at North Carolina's Pro Day besting Pickett. Corral still has the best game film of the three quarterbacks and entered the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl as my top ranked quarterback.
The 6-1 212 Matt Corral would be a good quarterback to push Mitchell Trubisky and Mason Rudolph for the starting quarterback job in Pittsburgh. Matt Corral had 3,349 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, a 68.4 completion percentage, 614 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, 3.963 total yards, 31 total touchdowns, and 5 interceptions with 3 of those 5 picks coming in Ole Miss's final three games against Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and Baylor before Matt Corral left the Sugar Bowl injured rather than opting out of the Bowl game going 2/6 with an no touchdowns and 1 interception against this years Big 12 Champions.
If Pittsburgh passes on Corral at 20 with Pickett and Willis gone it will be due to the fact that the team doesn't like his character because he's clearly a top 3 quarterback in this draft along with those two when you watch the tape because Corral entered Senior Bowl week as my number one quarterback, and I still believe he may be the only guy in this draft outside of Pickett who can beat out Mitchell Trubisky to be a week 1 starter. If the Steelers passed on Corral in that situation, my guess is that Desmond Ridder or Sam Howell would end up on Pittsburgh instead.
Cristian F posted three games of Matt Corral's film against Texas A&M, Alabama, and Auburn on his Youtube Channel. I've posted a link to his channel in the previous sentence as well as embedded the Matt Corral game versus Texas A&M that Cristian posted. Please subscribe to Cristian's channel he works hard on these film cuts just like every other content creator that posts content for the 2022 NFL Draft.
Nakobe Dean is a consensus top 20 pick who could go as early as nine to Seattle, but will fall no further than 21. If he drops further than that, the team that takes Nakobe Dean is getting a massive steal. The New England Patriots get a star linebacker that can play 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 middle linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, and 3-4 middle linebacker with his versatility. At first I viewed him as a pure MIKE linebacker, but after rewatching his Florida game film, I saw Dean line up at both the WILL and SAM on different plays. He's a guy who blitzes, stops the run, and plays zone coverage at a high level.
Nakobe Dean is Georgia's best linebacker prospect since Roquan Smith, who was a top 10 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft who ranked seventh on my 2018 NFL Draft Big Board. Dean isn't the tackling machine that Smith was coming out of Georgia, but as far as intangibles go with sacking the quarterback, stopping the run, and covering effectively, he displays the same traits that Smith did, which is one of the things that makes Dean an incredible linebacker prospect. You could also argue that Dean is far more versatile than Smith was.
The 5-11 229 lb Nakobe Dean has won numerous accolades over his career including the 2018 High School Butkus Award Winner for top linebacker in High School, SEC Newcomer of the Year in 2019, he was a semifinalist for the Butkus Award in his first year as a starting linebacker on Georgia in 2020, but his best season was last season where he went on to win the Butkus Award for top linebacker in College Football. Nakobe Dean had 36 solo tackles, 36 assisted tackles, 72 total tackles improving on his 71 total tackles in 2020, 10.5 tackles for a loss, 6 sacks, 6 deflections from pass breakups, 5 quarterback hurries, 2 forced fumbles, 2 interceptions, and 1 defensive touchdown in 2021.
ESPN's Todd McShay has Dean in his top 15, but NFL Scouts keep telling McShay that he will get envellopped by bigger blockers, that his arms are too short. Wes Langley one of my top scouts at Draft Utopia told me that Dean has a chance to be better than Roquan Smith back in late January. Basically my verdict here is that Dean does everything traits wise on film that Smith did in his draft year despite not having as many tackles or the imposing size Smith carried. In fact you could argue that Dean is a bigger asset then Smith simply due to his versatility to play in any scheme at linebacker, but I agree with McShay that this is a top 15 prospect who is gonna fall a lot further than he should.
New England needs a day 1 starter next to Ju'Whan Bentley who led New England with 106 total tackles despite struggling in coverage. Nakobe Dean is the perfect replacement to Dont'a Hightower at 3-4 middle linebacker while Raekwon McMillan reprises a depth role as New England's backup 3-4 middle linebacker.
The Las Vegas Raiders traded their first two picks in the 2022 NFL Draft to get a top 5 receiver in Davante Adams who was Derek Carr's college teammate at Fresno State. Green Bay goes with an offensive tackle here in wake of right tackle Billy Turner being released.
Green Bay gets a bookend offensive tackle that could eventually replace David Bahktiari at left tackle if Bahktiari gets injured one more time. Green Bay has two first and second round picks thanks to their trade for Davante Adams.
The 6-6 304 lb Bernard Raimann had one of the best weeks at the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl showing the versatility to play both left tackle and right tackle. Raimann has the pass blocking, pass blocking footwork, run blocking, and run blocking footwork. His strength could improve on tape, but he did 30 reps on the bench press at the 2022 NFL Combine.
Aaron Rodgers would have David Bahktiari at left tackle, Elgton Jenkins at left guard, Josh Myers at center, Royce Freeman at right guard, and Bernard Raimann at right tackle. With this offensive line, Aaron Rodgers would have much better protection. Also, Raimann could move over to left tackle if David Bahktiari gets injured at any point in the 2022 season after missing the end of 2020 and all of 2021.
Arizona currently has Byron Murphy as their field cornerback with Jeff Gladney as their boundary cornerback after being cleared of any sexual assault charges that he was accused of which led to the Vikings releasing the 2020 first round pick out of TCU who now gets a second chance in Arizona. Marco Wilson, Arizona's 2021 fourth round pick is the current starter at nickel cornerback. That can work for the 2022 season, while Andrew Booth Jr. recovers from his injury, but a long-term cornerback to play next to Byron Murphy at boundary cornerback is needed and that's exactly what Andrew Booth Jr. provides the Arizona Cardinals here.
The 6-0 194 lb Andrew Booth Jr. gives Arizona a cornerback trio of Byron Murphy, Andrew Booth Jr., and Avonte Maddox at nickel cornerback. Andrew Booth Jr. has elite athleticism. He also has the man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage despite seeing only 65 snaps in 2020. Andrew Booth Jr. did well on tape aagainst Georgia and Pittsburgh with Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett throwing away from 23 Andrew Booth Jr and 31 Mario Goodrich in Pitt's home win over Clemson at Heinz Field.
Andrew Booth Jr. has quick feet, knows how to move his hips, and has a great change of direction. He's got the best length of any cornerback in this draft. I said in August that Andrew Booth Jr. will be the second best cornerback in this draft behind Derek Stingley Jr. by the time the draft process is complete as I gave him an A grade in man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage. Booth can play cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, and cover 4.
He's my third best cornerback behind Gardner and Stingley Jr heading into the Free Agency period despite a quad injury which kept him out of the 2022 NFL Combine. Booth had core muscle surgery, but that will only keep him out 3-8 weeks. There are rumors that Andrew Booth Jr. might miss the entire 2022 NFL Season now which is the only reason he dropped to Arizona.
Andrew Booth Jr. needs to improve his change of direction on plays, take better angles, and become a more consistent tackler against the run. Other then that, I don't see any major flaws which keep Andrew Booth Jr. from having success at the next level. Arizona is a great fit for Andrew Booth Jr. at 23.
Most draft sites and draft analysts have a consensus first round grade on Booth, but some prominent draft analysts like Mel Kiper Jr., Charlie Campbell of Walter Football, and Wes Langley of Draft Utopia believe Andrew Booth Jr. belongs in the second round. Andrew Booth Jr. is someone who has A grade potential in man, zone, and press coverage despite his limited experience so Arizona getting him as a number two boundary cornerback next to Byron Murphy right out of the gate in 2022 if he recovers or in 2023 at the very latest is an awesome scheme fit plus you got Avonte Maddox back at nickel cornerback too.
Dallas has Neville Gallimore their 2020 third round pick from Oklahoma, Trysten Hill their 2019 second round pick, and Osa Odighizuwa their 2021 third round pick giving them solid ability at 4-3 defensive tackle. However, there are still three 4-3 defensive tackles on the board who are arguably upgrades over all three of these players with 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl MVP Perrion Winfrey my number two defensive tackle, Travis Jones out of Connecticut my third best 4-3 defensive tackle, and Devonte Wyatt out of Georgia rounding out this top 4. There's also rumors Dallas may draft a 4-3 defensive tackle at 25 according to Las Vegas oddsmakers and doing so may give Dallas a top 10 run defense next season with Perrion Winfrey and Neville Gallimore as starters while Trysten Hill and Osa Odighizuwa compliment the two Oklahoma 4-3 defensive tackles in depth roles.
The 6-3 303 lb Perrion Winfrey was MVP of the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl as he had 3 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, and 5 quarterback hurries in this years Senior Bowl. Winfrey is my second best defensive tackle in this draft even though he's mainly a 4-3 defensive tackle. Luckily, Dan Quinn and Dallas runa combination of a 4-3 base defense and a nickel defense with a 4-2-5 involving four defensive linemen.
Buffalo addresses their biggest need and gets a cornerback that can play with Tre'Davious White as their boundary cornerback now that Levi Wallace is gone. This allows Taron Johnson to play nickel cornerback while Dane Jackson remains a depth piece at cornerback.
The 6-1 195 lb Kaiir Elam is the son of Abram Elam. His uncle is former Baltimore Ravens safety Matt Elam. Kaiir does well in man and zone coverage. He still needs to improve his press coverage. Kaiir Elam is a better run stuffer and tackler than C.J. Henderson who went in the top ten two years ago, but he's not as consistent with wrapping up tackles as you'd like him to be.
I would give Kaiir Elam an A- grade in man coverage, an A grade in zone coverage, a B+ grade in press coverage, a B grade in run stuffing, and a B- in wrapping up tackles. Elam can play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 defense. Elam has trouble wrapping up tackles at times like C.J. Henderson, but he's far more relaible as a run stuffer and blitzer then Henderson ever was and C.J. was a top 10 pick. Sean McDermott and Leslie Frazier can turn Elam's weaknesses into strengths by drafting the Florida cornerback at 25.
Tennessee gets a starting left guard with Roger Saffold gone. Kenyon Green struggled at the Combine. He did much better in the blocking drills at Texas A&M's pro day even though a lot of players struggled at Texas A&M's Pro Day with their 40 times in the 40-yard dash.
Kenyon Green has the pass blocking, run blocking, and zone blocking. He needs to get stronger and improve his footwork at the next level. Kenyon Green is versatile enough to play left tackle, left guard, right guard, or right tackle with his versatility as Green played left tackle in 2021 after being a guard his first two years at Texas A&M dominating on film against Alabama when Texas A&M defeated Alabama.
Tampa Bay gets a left guard with Ali Marpet retiring. Zion Johnson showcased his impeccable work ethic at the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl, the 2022 NFL Combine, and Boston College's Pro Day.
The 6-2 314 lb Zion Johnson is versatile enough to play left tackle, left guard, center, right guard, and right tackle. He was the last player to leave practice on Wednesday and Thursday of the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl. He has the pass blocking, pass blocking strength, pass blocking footwork, run blocking, run blocking strength, and run blocking footwork.
Zion Johnson gives Tampa Bay a day 1 starter despite falling this far in the draft. Tom Brady now has Donovan Smith at left tackle, Zion Johnson at left guard, Ryan Jensen at center, Shaq Mason at right guard, and Tristan Wirfs at right tackle.
Green Bay brought back D'Vondre Campbell at 3-4 middle linebacker. Another 3-4 middle linebacker is needed since this draft has three different 3-4 middle linebackers that are upgrades over Krys Barnes whose better served in a depth role.
Devin Lloyd can rush the quarterback, stop the run, and drop into coverage effectively is a smart move. Devin Lloyd can play 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 middle linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, and 3-4 middle linebacker with his versatility.
The 6-2 237 lb Devin Lloyd had 65 solo tackles, 45 assisted tackles, 110 total tackles, 22 tackles for a loss, 8 sacks, 6 deflections from pass breakups, 4 interceptions, 2 defensive touchdowns, and 2 quarterback hurries in 2021. Devin Lloyd gives Green Bay an immediate starter next to D'Vondre Campbell at 3-4 middle linebacker.
Green Bay has Rashan Gary at 3-4 right outside linebacker, Preston Smith at 3-4 left outside linebacker, D'Vondre Campbell starting at one of the two 3-4 middle linebacker spots, and Devin Lloyd who I'm mocking to the Packers at 28 starting in the other spot at 3-4 middle linebacker.
Kansas City gets a weapon to replace Tyreek Hill. Jameson Williams runs like Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill in terms of speed. When fully healthy, you can easily argue he's the best receiver in this draft just on speed alone. He's also taller than both Waddle and Hill making this a no brainer selection for the Kansas City Chiefs if he gets to 29. Lots of experts believe Williams won't make it to 29, but if he does he won't get past this pick.
The 6-1 179 lb Jameson Williams becomes a number one target for Patrick Mahomes. Kansas City reloads at wide receiver by saving cap space without overpaying Tyreek Hill. Jameson Williams can run 16/30 routes on the route tree.
Jameson Williams had 79 receptions, 1,572 receiving yards, and 15 receiving touchdowns in 2021 leading the SEC in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Williams played five games against NFL cornerbacks and went 2/32 against cornerbacks in man coverage. The only game where he exceeded 100 receiving yards was against Georgia in the SEC Championship against Derion Kendrick. Williams got ejected for targeting versus Auburn and tore his ACL in the rematch against Georgia in the National Title Game. First round cornerbacks Kaiir Elam and Ahmad Gardner kept him in check on film.
Kansas City gets a 4-3 left end to compliment Frank Clark so Chris Jones can go back to playing 4-3 defensive tackle full time. Boye Mafe can line up at 4-3 right end, 4-3 left end, 3-4 right outside linebacker, and 3-4 left outside linebacker. Boye Mafe was also a team captain on the Minnesota Golden Gophers defense providing tremendous leadership up front on Minnesota's defensive line. He showcased his rip and swim moves at the 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl.
The 6-3 255 lb Boye Mafe is excellent at rushing the quarterback and dropping back into coverage. The only thing he needs to improve in is his run stuffing ability. Boye Mafe had 10 tackles for a loss, 7 sacks, and 3 quarterback hurries in 2021. He compliments Frank Clark at 4-3 left end giving the Chiefs a day 1 starter at 4-3 left end.
The 6-0 191 lb Daxton Hill is versatile enough to play nickel cornerback, strong safety or free safety with his versatility. He's got superb athleticism and is projected to run a 4.30 40-time. Hill ran a 4.38 40-time at the 2022 NFL Combine.
Daxton Hill had ana A grade in man coverage, an A grade in zone coverage, and an A- grade in press coverage. Daxton Hill can play in a cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 scheme.
Daxton Hill is the only safety in this draft that I'd consider a viable replacement to Jessie Bates III if Cincinnati cannot pay Jessie Bates III a long-term deal. He could be a depth player at both cornerback and safety as a rookie. After a year of development, he would take over for Jessie Bates III at free safety in 2023.
Detroit gets a number two target to pair with Amon-Ra St. Brown at 32. Treylon Burks would push Amon-Ra St. Brown to be the number one target and would be a high end number two receiver next to Amon-Ra St. Brown at the very worst.
The 6-2 225 lb Treylon Burks had 51 receptions, 820 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2020. Treylon Burks dominated in 2021 with 66 receptions, 1,104 receiving yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns. He doesn't have the deadly speed that Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams has on film, but he's a reliable pass catcher for any quarterback.
Treylon Burks can run 15/30 routes on the route tree. He's raw and takes plays off, but he had more 100 yard games against SEC cornerbacks that are NFL prospect on film then Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams who tore his ACL. Despite the inconsistency at times, he is an effective blocker.
If he turns his all of his weaknesses into strengths the upside to be one of the biggest steals in the 2022 NFL Draft. Worst case scenario, you're looking a receiver with Courtland Sutton's floor making this a great pick for Detroit since he will compliment Amon-Ra St. Brown. This would leave D.J. Chark, Josh Reynolds, Kalif Raymond, and Quintez Cephus competing for the slot receiver job with the other three receivers making servicable backups for Detroit at wide receiver.
Christian F posted a film cut of Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks against Alabama. Go to his Youtube Channel and subscribe to his channel. You can also watch his video in our mock draft.
