2022 NFL Mock Draft: Final Mock 7 Rounds
Round 5
Chris Ransom follow @DraftUtopia Last Updated: April 28, 2022.
Carolina Panthers: Neil Farrell Jr., DT, LSU
- The 6-3 328 lb Neil Farrell Jr. is the only defensive tackle left in the 2022 NFL Daft that may be a day 1 starter. Carolina could use a second 4-3 defensive tackle next to Derrick Brown and Neil Farrell Jr. is a good value pick in the fifth round.
- Neil Farrell Jr. led LSU in total tackles back in 2019 despite only starting 3 games on LSU's defensive line during their 15-0 season with Joe Burrow and Ja'Maar Chase. Neil Farrell Jr. became a full-time starter in 2020. His best season was last year where he started all 12 games. Neil Farrell Jr. had 20 solo tackles, 25 assisted tackles, 45 total tackles, 24 run stops, 10 stops for no gain or a loss, 9.5 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, 2 deflections from pass breakups, and 1 quarterback hurry in 2021. Neil Farrell Jr. was also an SEC Academic Honor Roll student in his two seasons as a starter on LSU's defensive line in both 2020 and 2021.
- The one quarterback hurry in 2021 is the most misleading stat as far as the type of impact that Neil Farrell Jr. will bring to your team. He's got the athleticism to get pressure on your quarterback despite his massive weight as Neil Farrell Jr. had multiple quarterback pressures against Bo Nix and Auburn. Against Ole Miss, Neil Farrell Jr. had 7 total tackles, a career high 3 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack against Ole Miss limiting their running game while getting pressure on Matt Corral. Against Alabama, Neil Farrell Jr. had 7 total tackles matching his career high for tackles in one game while limiting Alabama's running game to 6 rushing yards which is an all time low for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
- Neil Farrell Jr. has the athleticism. block shedding, strength, pass rushing, and run stuffing abilit to be an impact player on day 1 in the right situation. As crazy as it sounds, I could see Neil Farrell Jr. being a day 1 starter at defensive tackle in the NFL.
Denver Broncos: Ty Chandler, RB, North Carolina
- The Denver Broncos draft the 5-11 204 lb Ty Chandler, who was a third string running back to Javonte Williams and Michael Carter at North Carolina to be the backup to Williams in Denver now that Melvin Gordon is gone.
- Ty Chandler had 182 carries, 1,092 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, 15 receptions, 216 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 197 touches, 1,308 total yards, and 16 total touchdowns in 2021. Ty Chandler ran a 4.38 40-time at the 2022 NFL Combine. Ty Chandler showcased the ball carrier vision, pass blocking, speed, and receiving that you want from a starting running back at North Carolina's Pro Day. He'll go to Denver and be a backup to his former teammate Javonte Williams in this scenario though.
New York Jets: Kyren Williams, RB, Notre Dame
- The 5-9 194 lb Kyren Williams dominated with 211 carries, 1,125 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, 35 receptions, 313 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 246 touches, 1,438 total yards, and 14 total touchdowns in 2020 in his first year as a starter. Kyren Williams followed that up with 204 carries, 1,002 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, 42 receptions, 359 receiving yards, 3 receiving touchdowns, 246 touches, 1,361 total yards, and 17 total touchdowns in 2021.
- Kyren Williams has the pass blocking to be a starting running back. He improved as a pass catcher too. He struggled against Wisconsin middle linebacker Leo Chenal who held Kyren Williams to 18 carries for 33 rushing yards while holding Williams to 0 receptions in coverage. Williams ran a 4.70 40 time at the 2022 NFL Combine. That 40-time got worse at Notre Dame's Pro Day which is why Williams fell to the fifth round after being the consensus fourth best running back at one point in the draft process.
New York Giants: Yusef Corker, FS, Kentucky
- The 5-11 204 lb Yusef Corker is versatile enough to play strong safety or free safety. Yusef Corker had 44 solo tackles, 37 assisted tackles, 81 total tackles 8 deflections from pass breakups, 3.5 tacles for a loss, 1 sack, and 1 quarterback hurry in 2021.
- Corker can be effective in coverage, but he made some nice plays early against Georgia as a run stuffer that acts as an eighth man in the box despite missing a few tackles on film as well. New York has Xavier McKinney starting at strong safety with Julian Love a 2019 third round pick out of Notre Dame starting at free safety. Obviously, Corker would start out as a backup safety for depth, but he could be starting at safety if McKinney or Love gets injured in 2022. I also think, he's talented enough to push Love, perhaps even beat him out for the starting free safety job. Competition for Julian Love has to happen with Logan Ryan gone.
Chicago Bears: DeAngelo Malone, LOLB, Western Kentucky
- The 6-3 234 lb DeAngelo Malone could be a starting strong side linebacker at the SAM in Chicago's new 4-3 defense. The defensive line is set unless you lack confidence in Trevis Gipson out of Tulsa on the edge next to Robert Quinn. Gipson had 7 sacks in his second season with Chicago after Mack suffered a season ending injury which is why I'm confident in Chicago's defensive line.
- DeAngelo Malone would compliment Nicholas Morrow at 4-3 right outside linebacker and Roquan Smith at middle linebacker after having 44 solo tackls, 50 assisted tackles, 94 total tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss, 9 sacks, 7 quarterback hurries, 4 deflections from pass breakups, and 4 forced fumbles with Western Kentucky in 2021.
Carolina Panthers: Damarri Mathis, CB, Pittsburgh
- Carolina already has three quality starters at cornerback with Jaycee Horn, Donte Jackson, and C.J. Henderson at nickel cornerback when all three are fully healthy. The 5-10 197 lb Damarri Mathis lined up at field cornerback, boundary cornerback, strong safety, and free safety at Pittsburgh. He had 11 deflections from pass breakups in 2019 before missing 2020 with a season ending injury. Mathis recovered from that injury with 6 deflections from pass breakups and 2 interceptions before showing promise at the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl. Mathis followed that up with a 4.39 40-time at the 2022 NFL Combine before improving that to a 4.37 at Pittsburgh's Pro Day. If Carolina passes on Kenny Pickett at 6, they could take another Pittsburgh Panther for depth at cornerback and safety later in the draft with Damarri Mathis.
Chicago Bears: Cole Turner, TE, Nevada
- Chicago gets a tight end for depth to backup Cole Kmet, Chicago's 2020 second round pick. The 6-6 246 lb Cole Turner had 49 receptions, 605 receiving yards, and 9 receiving touchdowns in 2020. Cole Turner improved on that with 62 receptions, 677 receiving yards, and 10 receiving touchdowns in 2021.
- Cole Turner did alright at the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl and bounced back at Nevada's Pro Day following a rough 2022 NFL Combine where he dropped a pass in the gauntlet drill after running a 4.76 40-time. When watching his film, I see a tight end that can run all 30 routes on the route tree and block effectively despite his size. Cole Turner goes to a great situation in Chicago where he can be a good backup to Cole Kmet now that Jimmy Graham is gone.
Atlanta Falcons: Percy Butler, FS, Lousiana
- The 6-0 194 lb Percy Butler is versatile enough to play strong safety or free safety. I gave him an A- grade in man coverage, an A grade in zone coverage, and a C grade in press coveage. Butler can play cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4. He's a good safety who ran a 4.36 40-time at the 2022 NFL Combine. He provides depth behind 2021 second round pick Richie Grant. He's also the only safety left in this draft who could beat out Grant for the free safety job in Atlanta, but in this scenario he goes to Atlanta serving as a very good high end backup.
Seattle Seahawks: Jalyn Armour-Davis, CB, Alabama
- The 6-1 197 lb Jalyn Arour-Davis is a good cover corner. I gave him an A- grade in man coverage, an A grade in zone coverage, and a C- grade in press coverage. He can play cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, and cover 4. You're probably asking why don't I have him in day 2 like the rest of draft experts. Well he's the worst run stuffing cornerback I saw. Treylon Burks pushed him 15 yards backwards on a running play. The Arkansas receivers not named Burks pushed him back 10 yards. That's one reason I gave Jalyn Armour-Davis an F grade against the run, and it's the biggest reason Alabama's best cornerback dropped to Seattle in the fifth round. Seattle takes Jalyn Armour-Davis here and pairs him with Mykael Wright hoping those two can fix their problems at cornerback.
Seattle Seahawks: Thayer Munford Jr., LG, Ohio State
- The 6-6 328 lb Thayer Munford Jr. mainly played on the left side of Ohio State's offensive line at left tackle and left guard. He lined up at right guard and right tackle during some offensive line drills at Ohio State's Pro Day. Thayer Munford also has the ideal arm length and hand size for an offensive tackle, but has the foot speed of a guard which is why Thayer Munford Jr. will probably kick inside to guard at the next level. He's got the pass blocking, run blocking, and zone blocking to start at guard, but I can see why teams would be concerned about him being an NFL starter at guard because some teams might think he's too tall to play guard.
Philadelphia Eagles: Zamir White, RB, Georgia
- The 6-0 214 lb Zamir White was the top ranked running back in the High School recruiting class of 2018. He went to Georgia after Nick Chubb and Sony Michel left the program. Zamir White had 160 carries, 856 rushing yards, and 11 rushing touchdowns in 2021 before running a 4.38 40-time at the 2022 NFL Combine. Georgia mainly used him as a north and south runner while using James Cook as their third down back.
- Zamir White is my ninth best running back in the 2022 NFL Draft. He took over the running back job in 2020 after D'Andre Swift got drafted and has two years of experience as a starting running back.
- Philadelphia has Miles Sanders, Kenneth Gainwell, and Boston Scott back on a one-year deal. Zamir White will push Boston Scott for the third string running back job in Philadelphia, but all four of the running backs mentioned are capable of making Philadelphia's opening day roster.
Dallas Cowoys: Kyron Johnson, RE, Kansas
- The 6-1 235 lb Kyron Johnson had 8.5 tackles for a loss and 6.5 sacks in 2021 leading Kansas in those categories. He's got the rip and swim moves you want a defensive end to have. At the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl, Kyron Johnson lined up at 4-3 right end, 4-3 left end, 3-4 right outside linebacker, and 3-4 left outside linebacker.
- Dallas currently has Dante Fowler Jr. at 4-3 right end and DeMarcus Lawrence at 4-3 left end. Right now, Dallas has Chauncey Golston their 2021 third round pick out of Iowa as the backup 4-3 right end with Dorance Armstrong Jr. as the backup 4-3 left end. Kyron Johnson could begin this season as a third string edge rusher or on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad. In a year from now, he could competing with Chauncey Golston for the 4-3 right end job next to DeMarcus Lawrence once he uses 2022 to build more muscle that you want a 4-3 defensive end to have.
Minnesota Vikings: Bryan Cook, FS, Cincinnati
- The 6-1 206 lb Bryan Cook is versatile enough to play both strong safety and free safety. Minnesota gets depth for Harrison Smith an Camryn Bynum at safety here. The problem is Minnesota has no depth at safety if one of those two gets injured. Bryan Cook solves this problem since some consider him a top 5 safety in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Sterling Weatherford, FS, Miami Ohio
- Jacksonville's current starting safeties are strong safety Andrew Wingard and free safety Rayshawn Jenkins. Andre Cisco, Jacksonville's 2021 third round pick out of Syracuse is the backup strong safety. Sterling Weatherford lined up at 4-3 right outside linebacker, 4-3 left outside linebacker, strong safety, and free safety. Weatherford would be a backup to Jenkins in this scenario, which sounds ideal considering that Jenkins missed the final month of the 2021 season with injuries.
New England Patriots: Myron Cunningham, LT, Arkansas
- The 6-5 320 lb Myron Cunningham was a starting left tackle on Arkansas who showed the pass blocking and run blocking you want in a starting left tackle. He'll make a much better backup to Isaiah Wynn than Justin Herron who sucked at left tackle in week 18 against Miami and in the wild card loss where Wynn missed the wild card round with injuries. Herron could slide back over to a backup right tackle role with the addition of Myron Cunningham here. New England's 2018 first round pick has never played a full season, and unless the stonewall left tackle does that in 2022, it's hard to see him getting extended by Belichick.
Indianapolis Colts: Marcus Jones, CB, Houston
- Indianapolis has Kenny Moore at field cornerback, Stephon Gilmore at boundary cornerback, and Brandon Facyson as their nickel cornerback. The Colts did lose Rock Ya-Sin their nickel cornerback in the trade that sent Yannick Ngakoue to the Colts. Indianapolis drafts Houston Cougars cornerback Marcus Jones to give the Indianapolis Colts depth at cornerback when you take Gilmore's injury history into account.
- The 5-8 174 lb cornerback had 37 solo tackles, 11 assistd tackles, 48 total tackles, 13 deflections from pass breakups, 5 interceptions, 5 total touchdowns, 2 kickoff returns for a touchdown, 2 punt returns for a touchdown, and 1 receiving touchdown on the Houston Cougars in 2021. Marcus Jones is the most versatile cornerback in this years draft despite his size.
- The only receiver who got 100 yards on him was Erik Ezukanma in the season opener against Texas Tech, but that says more about Ezukanma in my honest opinion. Marcus Jones is a perfect nickel corner for the Colts if Gilmore goes down allowing Facyson to move back to the outside, plus Indianapolis can also use him on special teams as a return specialist which will be his main role as a rookie unless one of the Colts top 3 cornerbacks gets injured.
Los Angeles Chargers: Smoke Monday, SS, Auburn
- The Los Angeles Chargers have Derwin James at strong safety and Nasir Adderley at free safety. Depth behind those two could be added and Auburn strong safety Smoke Monday is the perfect backup safety to learn under Derwin James himself. The 6-0 211 lb Smoke Monday is okay against the run and zone coverage. Learing under Derwin James might be what he needs if he hopes to become a starting safety down the road in the NFL.
New Orleans Saints: Joshua Williams, CB, Fayetteville State
- The 6-2 193 lb Joshua Williams has A grade man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage for a cornerback that played against Division 2 prospects after only having 31 total tackles and 6 deflections from pass breakups at Fayetteville State. He had a solid week at the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl against tougher competition, plus he's versatile enough to play field cornerback, boundary cornerback, nickel cornerback, strong safety, or free safety.
- New Orleans has Marshon Lattimore, Paulson Adebo, and P.J. Williams back as their top three cornerbacks with Chauncey Gardner-Johnson at strong safety and Daniel Sorensen at free safety. Joshua Williams will provide a nice depth piece for the New Orleans Saints secondary at cornerback, strong safety, and free safety.
Philadelphia Eagles: Kaleb Eleby, QB, Western Michigan
- Philadelphia gets a third string quarterback. Kaleb Eleby could take over as the backup to Gardner Minshew II in a year from now when Minshew's rookie deal expires.
- Kaleb Eleby's a pocket quarterback with a good arm, good accuracy, and sound decision making. Eleby played poorly aganst Michigan, but still did well enough to avoid an interception. He made more accurate throws then Kenny Pickett when Western Michigan traveled to Heinz Field to face the Pittsburgh Panthers.
New York Jets: Otito Ogbonnia, DT, UCLA
- The 6-3 325 lb Otito Ogbonnia gives the New York Jets depth at 4-3 defensive tackle with most of their defensive tackles in contract years outside of Quinnen Williams. Having that depth at 4-3 defensive tackle will help.
Las Vegas Raiders: Zach Tom, RT, Wake Forest
- The 6-4 304 lb Zach Tom is the best offensive lineman on the board. Zach Tom is versatile enough to play left tackle, right tackle, or center on an offensive line. Zach Tom mainly played left tackle and center at Wake Forest with his best game happening against Florida State where he kept first round prospect Jermaine Johnson II in check. Zach Tom ran a 4.94 40-time at the 2022 NFL Combine. Zach Tom also showcased the versatility to line up at left tackle, left guard, center, right guard, and right tackle during blocking drills at Wake Forest's Pro Day. As crazy as this sounds, he might be an upgrade over Brandon Parker if he's still available for the Raiders in the fifth round.
Las Vegas Raiders: John Ridgeway III DT, Arkansas
- Las Vegas has Jonathan Hankins, Bilal Nichols, and Vernon Butler as a backup to Hankins. One more 4-3 defenisve tackle is needed.
- The 6-4 327 lb John Ridgeway III held Texas running back Bijan Robinson the top running back in the 2023 NFL Draft to 69 rushing yards and Isaiah Spiller to 95 rushing yards, but both running backs scored a rushing touchdown on Arkansas wih Spiller exceeding 100 total yards in Texas A&M's first loss of the season to Arkansas.
Philadelphia Eagles: Charlie Kolar, TE, Iowa State
- The 6-6 256 lb Charlie Kolar went 2/2 on blocks against Kayvon Thibodeaux in Iowa State's Fiesta Bowl win over Oregon to end the 2020 College Footall Season.
- Charlie Kolar had 51 receptions, 697 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2019. Kolar led all Big 12 tight ends with 44 receptions, 591 receiving yards, and 7 receiving touchdowns in 2020. Kolar had 62 receptions, 756 receiving yards, and 6 receiving touchdowns in 2021. Kolar had some bright moments at the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl as he's the ideal tight end to compliment Dallas Goedert in Philadelphia if Cade Otton doesn't check out medically. Remebmer, Godert started out as a number two tight end to Ertz before taking his job after being a 2018 second round pick.
Dallas Cowboys: Josh Thompson, CB, Texas
- The 5-10 199 lb Josh Thompson lined up at field cornerback for the Texas Longhorns using his A grade man coverage and A Grade zone coverage to keep both Erik Ezukanma and Treylon Burks in check despite only having one deflection. I gave Josh Thompson a C- grade for press coverage and an F grade for defending against the run which is why Thompson fell to the fifth round.
- With Kelvin Joseph being investigated for murder, there's a good chance that Dallas drafts a cornerback now. Josh Thompson remains in the state of Texas where he may be a potential repalcement for Joseph in Dallas. Josh Thompson can play cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4 with his football IQ in coverage despite his size.
Buffalo Bills: Spencer Burford, LT, UTSA
- Last year when Dion Dawkins got injured, Spencer Brown had to move over to left tackle. Brown is better at right tackle, so I'm adding a left tackle for depth right here. The 6-3 293 lb Spencer Burford gives you depth at left tackle. If he can kick inside to guard as well, he gives the Bills depth at left guard too.
Tennessee Titans: Chris Steele, CB, USC
- The 6-0 187 lb Chris Steele did a good job in coverage against Notre Dame wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr. He ran a 4.48 40-time at the 2022 NFL Combine. Chris Steele gives Tennessee depth to compliment Kristian Fulton, Caleb Farley, and Elijah Molden. Those three corners can start while Steele starts out as a backup and comes in if one of those three cornerbacks gets injured in 2022.
Houston Texans: Cordell Volson, RG, North Dakota State
- The 6-6 315 lb Cordell Volson played both right guard and right tackle at North Dakota State. He gives the Houston Texans depth at right guard behind Justin McCreary and Max Scharping, Houston's 2019 day 2 draft pick that enters a contract year after losing the right guard job to McCreary.
Green Bay Packers: Josh Jobe, CB, Alabama
- The 6-1 194 lb Josh Jobe has an A- grade in man coverage, zone coverage, and press coverage. He can play in cover 0, cover 1, cover 2, cover 3, or cover 4. He's a better run stuffer than Jalyn Armour-Davis, but his foot speed and durability are question marks. In this situation, Josh Jobe goes to Green Bay as a second cornerback for depth. Green Bay already has Jaire Alexander, Eric Stokes, and Rasul Douglas. Also, I mocked Kalon Barnes the Baylor cornerback to Green Bay for depth in the third round, so Green Bay gets their second corner for depth in Josh Jobe after losing both Josh Jackson and Chandon Sullivan.
San Francisco 49ers: Jeffrey Gunter, RE, Coastal Carolina
- The 6-4 258 lb Jeffrey Gunter gives San Francisco one more defensive end for depth with Nick Bosa as the starting 4-3 right end and Jeffrey Gunter for depth as the backup 4-3 right end. Then San Francisco has Dee Ford, Samson Ekubam, and Kemoko Turay competing for the 4-3 left end job across from Nick Bosa.
New York Giants: Cade Mays, LG, Tennessee
- The 6-4 329 lb Cade Mays gives the New York Giants more depth on the offensive line. Right now New York has Max Garcia and Shane Lemieux competing for the left guard job after Garcia started for Arizona last year with Mark Glowinski as the starting right guard and Ben Bredeson as the backup right guard. Cade Mays gives New York one more guard for depth in case an injury occurs, because Max Garcia will likely move to center if Jon Feliciano gets injured which would open up a backup left guard or right guard spot for Mays if this happened.
Cincinnati Bengals: Chris Paul, LG, Tulsa
- Cincinnati gets another offensive lineman for depth. The 6-4 324 lb Chris Paul is versatile enough to play left tackle, left guard, right guard, or right tackle with his versatility. Chris Paul, Tulsa's offensive lineman showcased his versatililty at the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl.
- Cincinnati has Jonah Williams as their starting left tackle with D'Ante Smith their 2021 fourth round pick as the backup left tackle. Chris Paul would be a backup left guard to Jackson Carman after running a 4.89 40-time at the 2022 NFL Combine. Ted Karras will start at center while Trey Hill remains the backup center after gaining some experience starting when former Bengals center Trey Hopkins got injured. Alex Cappa will start at right guard with Hakeem Adeniji as the backup right guard. Then you have La'el Collins at right tackle with Isaiah Prince last years right tackle who started in Super Bowl 56 as the backup to Collins after Riley Reiff suffered a season ending injury. The selection of Chris Paul gives Cincinnati starters and depth players at all five spots on the offensive line.
Los Angeles Rams: Dare Rosenthal, LT, Kentucky
- The 6-7 290 lb Dare Rosenthal transferred from LSU to Kentucky. He started every game at left tackle and is my second best offensive lineman from Kentucky behind Darrian Kinnard. He gives the Los Angeles Rams depth at left tackle behind Joseph Noteboom who takes over for Andrew Whitworth who retired following Super Bowl 56. Noteboom played well in the Rams playoff win over Tampa Bay to earn his extension while Rosenthal provides a good backup for Noteboom.
Dallas Cowboys: Tre' Williams, LE, Arkansas
- The Dallas Cowboys got this compensation pick at 176 for losing their backup Andy Dalton to the Chicago Bears in the 2021 NFL Free Agency period. I think it's absolutely hillarious that Jerry Jones got a compensation pick because a team decided to overpay his backup quarterback Andy Dalton.
- The 6-4 252 lb Tre' Williams gives Dallas one more edge rusher for depth in the fifth round. DeMarcus Lawrence is the only pass rusher I trust on this defense. I don't trust Dante Fowler Jr., Dorance Armstrong Jr., or Chauncey Golston as long-term edges next to DeMarcus Lawrence. That's why I mocked a second edge rusher to Dallas.
Detroit Lions: Rachaad White, RB, Arizona State
- The Detroit Lions got this compensation pick at 177 for losing wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. who signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Marvin Jones Jr. had 73 receptions, 832 receiving yards, and 4 receiving touchdowns in 2021 after having 76 receptions, 978 receiving yards, and 9 receiving touchdowns in 2020 during his final season with the Lions prior to arriving in Jacksonville.
- The 6-0 210 lb Rachaad White may have the best ball carrier vision of any running back in the 2022 NFL Draft. White took over as the starting running back for Arizona State in 2020 after Eno Benjamin left the team. Rachaad White's breakout year came last year when Rachaad White had 182 carries, 1,006 rushing yards, 15 rushing touchdowns, 43 receptions, 456 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown, 225 touches, 1,462 total yards, and 16 total touchdowns for Arizona State in 2021.
- This type of production in terms of running, pass catching, and demonstrating superb ball carrier vision on film got Rachaad White an invite to the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl. He did a nice job pass blocking for quarterback Jayden Daniels on a few plays too.
- Rachaad White checks most of the boxes on tape despite his 4.56 40-time. Detroit currently has D'Andre Swift as their number one running back with Jamaal Williams as their number two running back. Rachaad White would compete with Craig Reynolds and Jermar Jefferson Detroit's 2021 seventh round pick for the third string job, and I feel like White could win that job in training camp.
Dallas Cowboys: Abram Smith, RB, Baylor
- The Dallas Cowboys got this compensation pick at 178 for losing their 2017 second round pick Chidobe Awuzie to the Cincinnati Bengals. Chidobe Awuzie finally blossomed into the number one field cornerback he was when he played at Colorado in his first season with the Cincinnati Bengals while being the number one corner on Cincinnati's Super Bowl 57 team.
- The 5-11 211 lb Abram Smith had 257 carries, 1,601 rushing yards, and 12 rushing touchdowns for Baylor in 2021. Abram Smith showed the ball carrier vision, pass blocking, speed, and pass catching you want from a running back on film while impressing as a pass catcher at the 2022 Reese's Senior Bowl. Abram Smith heads to Dallas as Tony Pollard's replacement in the fifth round.
Indianapolis Colts: Lukas Krull, TE, Pittsburgh
- The Indianapolis Colts got this compensation pick at 179 for losing defensive tackle Denico Autry to the division rival Tennessee Titans. Denico Autry showed he could start at 3-4 left end next to 2019 first round pick Jeffrey Simmons.
- The 6-6 260 lb Lukas Krull is from Shawnee, Kansas which is my old hometown in Kansas before my family moved to Pittsburgh. Krull had 4 of his 6 receiving touchdowns in Pittsburgh's first three games. Indianapolis adds this red zone tight end to compliment Mo Alie-Cox and Kyler Granson at the end of the fifth round.
